Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Thule van locks. This is a two piece design. That's going to allow you to secure your rear door or your sliding side doors on your van to make sure that they are nice and secure and will not open.The way these work, you've got the two pieces here. You'll mount this on either side of the door.
So this piece will mount on your sliding door. This will mount on the frame to the door, and you have this larger piece here that will slide over that. You can see these little tabs here. You'll have to push those down to get this slid and over top of that. But once you do that, then this piece is locked in.
So I'm not going to do that right now for demonstration purposes, just to show you how this would fit on. But once you have this piece mounted, it's going to sit on there like that.And then this piece is what actually is going to lock your door closed. I'll show you on this one here. So the keyhole actually pushes this little knob up. So to lock it, really all you have to do is push that in, and that's going to force that little knob up.
And you can see on the bottom side here, that little recessed circle. That's where that is going to push into. So once you have that in place, you won't be able to pull it back and separate the two. So I'll show you here and you really just have to push in on that to lock it. And that is going to give you a nice firm connection.
And you'll have to use the key to pull that back out. Now that'll allow you to slide this back so that you can open the door again.This does come with two of these locks, so you can use one on your side sliding door and one on the back. Or if you have a sliding door on both sides of your van, whichever you prefer. It's going to come with all the hardware that you need to get this mounted. It's also got these rubber pads you'd put on the bottom of this piece, all four pieces there. You will have to drill into the side of your van, which can be kind of scary for some people, but it will help with the security over the long run.You're going to get three keys. These keys are numbered. They're all keyed alike so that they'll work with either of the locks here. I would recommend writing down that number as soon as you get it. Make sure that you have it on hand, just in case you we're to lose all three keys. You can contact Thule and they can send you a replacement key. It's a lot easier to do that than to have to try and remove the whole core and get that re-keyed if you we're to lose all three keys. So you do get three, so chances are you aren't going to lose all three of them, but it's just a good idea to have that number on hand in case you we're to need a replacement key.Overall, I think these are going to do a great job securing your van doors, keeping them closed. So any of your work equipment, anything like that, that you have in your van, you're not going to have to worry about it getting taken away while you're not around. This does come with a two year warranty from Thule. So should hold up really well for you. They stand behind their products. You can see this is a black option, so it should blend in well with your bumper and handles on your van. Overall, this is a very quality set to make sure that everything is secure in your van. That's going to complete our look at the Thule van locks. Thanks for watching..

These locks secure the rear and sliding side doors of your van. Fits all van models with a sleek black look that complements the bumper and handles. Locks slide in front of door to prevent opening.I used these locks to secure the forward lower storage door on my fifth wheel RV. The flimsy lock that came with the RV was a joke. I upgraded to lithium iron batteries and wanted to protect my investment. I installed one on each side of the door. I’m happy with the result.
great product
Overall the installation was okay on the passenger side door of a 99 Ford E250. Basically took approximately 1 hour after studying the 1 page photo for directions. Just make sure your door and panel are flat and level to each other. The drivers side took me some time to get because of uneven surfaces. I ended up re- aligning my door to get to work. Still a little tight when opening but I believe it will loosen up with being used all the time (an a little teflon spray), It doesn't leave a big footprint and look really nice on the side of front doors of van. I basically bought these should
to deter the thieves from taking our my door locks when they try to get in. I'm hoping that they do their job and deter them. I would not use these on my rear and side doors though. There not that deterring looking for me as an all by itself thing. I used the slick lock system on my van because I don't like the look of the big hasp and lock on side of van and rear of the van It an esthetic look which I want to keep on my van.
I do think the price is steep for them though but everything for security is high priced.but what can you do. I would recommend to other van owners tired of getting there door locks taken out. Hopefully this review helps others make the decision for their vehicle. Stay safe.
Great product. Packaged great. Came earlier then expected.
A+++++++++++++++++++ thank you
