  • Changing Spring Hangers To Raise Or Lower A Trailer
Yes. If you change no other components, the hanger length increase should directly correspond to the lift of the trailer. So, if you use a tandem axle kit like the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hangers for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Tall Front # H248, and each hanger is 1-1/2 inches longer than your current corresponding hangers, you will lift your trailer by 1-1/2 inches. This would work the same way for lowering a trailer.

  • Typical Hanger Spacings for Tandem Axle Trailer with 3,500 lb Axles
A lot of it depends on the length of the springs and equalizers that are used. When using Leaf Springs # e64SR with the # AP233 Equalizer Kit and the # H248 Hanger Kit, there should be 29-1/2" between the front and center hangers and 29-1/2" between the center and rear hangers. This should achieve a 4-1/2" clearance between the center of the axle and the trailer frame if you have a 3500 lb axle. I've Provided a diagram that should be helpful. I've also provided a link to our trailer maintenance...

  • Why Would Trailer Calipers Interfere with I-Beam Frame on Trailer After Install of Disc Brakes
I would have to see the setup to see exactly where the interference is but raising the suspension is a possible solution. Other possible solutions are to try a lower position of the caliper on the mounting flange. It sounds like your axles could also be a bit too short to work ideally on your trailer. Since this is the first time I have ever seen this problem I would lean strongly towards this being the issue. The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that...

The closest rated 3 inch diameter axles we have are the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 95" - 7,000 lbs # 8327834-EB. This axle comes with the hubs and brake assemblies so as long a 80 inch on center spring seats work for your trailer, this will be an excellent choice. You will also need the U-Bolt...

  • How to Raise Trailer Suspension When Springs are Above Axle
The best way to get additional lift at this point would be to go with taller hangers on your trailer. Increasing the length of your shackle straps won't give you a level lift since it would only increase the one side of the axle. Going with taller hangers will raise both sides of where the axle mounts. You will want to measure the length of your current hangers and then check out the link I attached that has all of the hangers we offer and go with ones taller than what you have.

Thanks for all of the information, Robert! It sounds like you have the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hangers # H248 installed on your tandem axle trailer so to get your Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # 7359765-EB installed you need the following parts: - 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # e54SR - CE Smith U-Bolt Kit # CE23002 - Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers # AP233 You need a total of 4 leaf spring, 2 of the U-Bolt kits, and just one of the suspension kits...

  • Where to Mount Tandem Axle Hangers For a 26 Inch Leaf Spring to have 35 Inch Axle Separation?
The MORryde Shock Absorbing Suspension Equalizers # MR27ZR are going to be compatible with the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e94SR. They will connect with the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR46ZR and a Hanger Kit # H248. With the springs being 26" long and an 8" equalizer you will want to spread the hangers 30-1/2" from center to have a 35" axle spacing with no weight on the trailer. This measurement is the separation for the mounting bolt centers of the hangers. If the springs did fully...

A 2" wide double eye spring really is a thing of the past so going to a 1-3/4" spring will be the only option if you want new springs. • Thickness of the Steel Used in the Trailer Hanger part # 28-5
The thickness of the steel of the Hanger part # 28-5 is 3/16 of an inch thick. The only way to get 6 of these exact hangers is to order a quantity of 6 of them. The # H248 comes with a set of taller center hangers. Center hangers are taller because of the shackle straps that hold the springs to the equalizer call for the center hanger to be taller so that the spring ends up sitting level. I attached a picture that hopefully let's you visualize that.
