The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
This light has an industry-standard PL-2 connection as pictured above. The light accepts a 2-prong plug (sold separately). The plug connects to 2 of the points on the PL-2 connection for power and ground. And the plug covers the unused third point on the connection to seal it against dirt and moisture.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install underneath a housing or a grommet (A55GB, A56GB, or A57GB - all sold separately). These lights will extend into the mounting surface and require that a hole be cut into your trailer.
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at an Optronics LED clearance or side marker light. This round trailer light can function as both a clearance light and side marker light when properly mounted. It features a sonically-sealed, waterproof housing and lens unit that is submersible. It also features durable surface-mount technology when it comes to the construction of the LED circuit board. That design better withstands shock and vibration and allows for improved heat distribution.Now this is an LED system. LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights.
They last longer. They burn brighter, and they're more efficient. With LEDs you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. This one features a nice durable polycarbonate housing with an acrylic lens. It is compatible with 12-volt electrical systems, and here on the back, it accepts an industry standard two-prong plug which is sold separately and available at etrailer.com.Also, when mounting, it's a grommet-mount installation, and the grommet is sold separately as well, also available at etrailer.com if needed.
It is Department of Transportation compliant. It meets FMVSS 108 requirements in any 360-degree position. When it comes to the overall diameter of the unit, that's measuring edge to edge, it's about two-and-a-half inches. The overall depth, I'm just measuring the lens, it's three-quarters of an inch. It contains a total of three LEDs.Now we're going to go ahead and hook it up to power.
That way you can see what it looks like with some power running to it. Then we'll also turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low-light setting. So here's a two-prong plug. It goes directly into the connection points around the back of the light, pushes in. So you can see here the light sends out a nice bright consistent signal, three diode or three LED design really helps optimize the overall light output.
Power draw at 12.8 volts is 0.06 amps, and Optronics puts a lifetime warranty on the LEDs.That's going to do it for today's look at the LED clearance or side marker light from Optronics.

Purchased LED lights to re-wire a 12-year old trailer. etrailer had all the lights/gaskets needed. Perfect fit to the original OEM lights.
