Can the stl72rb bulb be used as a replacement for an stl82rcb bulb? Is the wattage 72 and 82 respectively? I like the red lens and the 72rb are cheaper.

The Optronics # STL72RB and # STL82RCB are identical in size at 6-7/16" long x 2-5/16" tall x 1-3/4" thick and they do use the same shape/style of lens and bulb so it certainly could be used as a replacement.
The 72 and 82 in the part number is not an indication of the wattage. LED trailer lights will have much lower wattage than that. I was not able to find a specific wattage listed for the # STL72RB and # STL82RCB lights, but I can tell you that other similar 8 and 10 diode LED trailer lights are between 3 and 4 watts.
