Video Transcript for Trailer Axle Long U-Bolt Mounting Kit Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Redline U-bolt kit for mounting 3500 pound round trailer axles. These are 5 1/2 inch long U-bolts. The part number is APUBR-1.Now, when replacing your axle, it's a really good idea to also replace the U-bolts. These are a pretty cost effective item you can get and ensure that you're going to have excellent, excellent hold with your axle to your springs. You can see this is going on a floor spring pack. The opening on them is going to be 2 3/8 inch, so it's going to fit the outer tube diameter of our axle here.

It comes with the new lower plate, and also four new flange nuts that allows you to secure that end, keep everything locked tight, so you don't have any issues for a very long time. Now we're going to remove the four nuts on the bottom here that hold our axle down, and they hold the U-bolts here. When replacing an axle, generally you're going to replace these as well, just because these can kind of stretch over time. So, if these nuts won't come off, you can also just cut your U-bolts on each side. Now we're going to grab our new U-bolt kit and place these down and around, just like our old U-bolts were, and when we we'll replace the bottom bracket up on the U-bolts we'll see the hole here in the middle. That's meant for that nut to come down through, and then in each position we'll install one of the flange nuts. Now we'll go through and you're evenly going to tighten down our bolt. We'll get them snugged up first and then we can torque them.

For these nuts you'll want to use a 19 millimeter 3/4 inch socket. Notice we're tightening them evenly, but in a crossing pattern. That's going to compete our look at the U-bolt mounting kit for 3500 pound round trailer axles, part number APUBR-1.

I ordered several things from etrailer 2Axle hanging kit + u bolts and 4 pro grip retractable anchors. Every single thing inside of the box was well packed delivery was outstanding and the parts are solid. The anchor points fits perfectly on the pocket holes on my 2013 F-150, super easy to install and they are more convenient than the anchor points that came with the truck and sits at the bottom of the bed. I will recommend any of you to buy from etrailer they have great customer service, if you need to buy parts for a trailer I would say that this is the place to go! 713205

I recently replaced my 1/2 ton truck with a 3/4 ton truck. In order to hook up to my existing fifth wheel camper, I had to raise my camper. To do this, my brother and I moved the axles from the top of the leaf springs and attached them under the springs. This kit made it very easy to do this. We torched off the old u bolts and used this set as a replacement. The quality of this kit was very good. Hard to get too excited about u bolts but I would purchase this again if I had to do it all over again. I was able to gain about 5 1/2 inches by flipping the axles. Here is a before and after. 135541

We bought a set of springs for a buddy's tandem axle utility trailer. Had no idea of who made it or spring rates or anything. Went to the Etrailer website, figured it out by dimensions and weight. Website is extremely easy to navigate. Spent a few minutes comparing parts and ordered what looked to be the closest match to ours. They showed up about 3 days later. Perfect match. Bolted right in and worked perfecctly. Fast free shipping for really nice parts. What's not to like. Oh, forgot to add...bargain price. Highly recommend them. 651297

Ask the Experts about this Redline Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension

Do you have a question about this Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension?

  • How To Choose Correct 3,500 Lb Axle for Slipper Spring Setup
  • In order to determine which axle is correct for your trailer we need to find out what your hub face (HF) and spring center (SC) measurements are. If you take a look at the photo I have attached for you that should then help with obtaining the above two measurements. The most important thing we need to look for is the hub face as the spring center can then be moved (within a range) if we need to. I have attached a list of the 3,500 lb axles we offer in the varying hub face and spring center...

  • Correct Leaf Spring for Trailer with Lippert 3,500 lb Axle
  • Thank you for the photo! I was able to use the serial number on your axle to determine which is the correct replacement leaf spring for your trailer. For this, you are going to want to use the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # SP-220275 which is a double eye leaf spring that is 1-3/4" wide, has a 4,000 lb total weight capacity, and a 25-1/4" eye to eye measurement. The measurement you provided of 26" long is correct but the leaf spring needs to be measured while unloaded as it will lengthen...

  • Replacement 26 Inch Leaf Springs, Shackle Straps, And U-Bolts
  • To give you the correct leaf springs, I would need to know the capacity of your axle or what your Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is not just the weight of the trailer itself. This is the loaded capacity of the trailer. We have a few options for 26 inch leaf springs: 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long # SP-051275 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long # SP-124275 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,500-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long...

  • Recommended Drop Axle for Trailer With 80 Inch Spring Center
  • The best option we have for you is going to be with the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles part # 7685269 which has a 3,500 lb weight capacity. This will allow the tires to extend out past your load and will provide you with the low load height you will need. The spring center spacing on this axle is set at 80" but if this does not match what you have on your trailer now then you can always move them to where you need them with part # TRSS238. • Recommendation for Upgrading Double-Eye Springs Suspension to Remedy Trailer Lean
  • To replace the 6,000lb leaf springs on your 2014 Grand Design 337, a great option is the Double-Eye 5-Leaf Springs, # SP-111275. These are 25-1/4 inches long, so to confirm they will fit your trailer, it is best to try and measure your current, unloaded leaf springs to assure proper replacement length. Typically, the number of leaves on a suspension system will not have an affect on the setup, especially when looking at leaf springs within the same weight capacity. The difference in the...

  • To use with the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500 Pound Trailer Axles # SP-210275 I recommend the U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-1. The manufacturer doesn't list any specified torque specs for this kit but based on the size of the hardware (1/2 inch diameter nuts) you will want to torque them down to about 70 foot pounds. I have attached an installation video that you can also take a look at.

  • Trailer Leaf Springs, Hangers, and U-bolts for a 3,500 Pound Axle
  • It does appear that the hanger in the picture has been overloaded or otherwise damaged so replacing them is a good idea. And like you said, since it has to be replaced anyway you could switch to double-eye springs which are more common so parts for them are easier to find. The springs do not have to be the same length but having it close means you won't have to do any math to ensure everything is in the best location for the trailer size and weight. You can use hanger kit # APS4 which...

  • U-Bolt Kit for Smaller Round Axle on Jet Ski Trailer
  • It could just be the angle but looking at the picture you attached it appears that you have a 1-3/4 inch diameter axle. This would be consistent too with the smaller 2,000 pound axles that are typically on jet ski trailers like what you have. I do recommend verifying this measurement once more but if this is indeed the case then you can use the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit # CE23000 which features U-Bolts with an inner width of 1-7/8 inches and galvanized plates to resist any rust or corrosion....

  • As long as the 7/16" U-Bolts that you are using fit your 3,500 lb axle diameter correctly and they are rated for a 3,500 lb axle then you are good to go. We only carry 1/2" U-Bolts, parts # CE23002 and # APUBR-1, but when I reached out to my contact at Dexter Axle, who is one of the leading axle manufacturers, they said that 7/16" U-Bolts are fairly common for 3,500 lb axles.

  • Parts Needed To Convert Boat Trailer From Single to Tandem Axle Trailer
  • I can offer you suggestions for double-eye leave springs, a U-bolt kit, and a hanger kit, but we do not offer axles that match your spring center measurement and your hub face measurement, so the axles must be custom ordered. You will want to order the axles locally from an authorized trailer axle dealer. We do suggest ordering 3,500 pound axles. It is very common for tandem axle boat trailers to have 3,500 pound axles on them, and this will allow you to use electric brakes rated for 3,500...

  • 89 inch Trailer Axle, 5 on 5 inch Bolt Pattern Hub and Leaf Spring Recommendation
  • To get a 89 inch long axle you would want the part # T3584F-EZ-8974 for an axle that does not come with hubs and then for hubs you would want the part # 84556UC3 for a brake hub with a 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern or for an idler hub # 84550BX. Since this is a 3,500 lb axle you would want the same rated leaf springs. The # SP-212275 is a 3,500 lb spring that would work well for you. For a tandem axle hanger kit you would want the part # APT3 and for a u-bolt kit you would want the # APUBR-1.

  • Recommended U-Bolts for Weekend Warrior LE-3305 Axle Flip Project
  • To convert your axle for a top mounted leaf spring I would recommend replacing the U bolts, nuts and tie plates, so your best bet would be to go with a U bolt kit. For a 2-3/8" round axle use # APUBR-1 For a 3" round axle use # APUBR-9 You don't want to actually turn the axle over, because it would have your wheel camber going the wrong way.

  • 3,500 lb Leaf Springs and Hanger Kit Recommendation for a Mobile Home Trailer
  • Mobile home axles/suspension are typically designed for one time use, so picking out components to work with mobile home components can be tricky. Your best bet is to do what you did with your axles and just start over with quality stuff that you will know will work. First let's start with a spring. For a 3,500 lb spring the part # SP-212275 would be a great choice. For a u-bolt kit you would want part # APUBR-1. For a tandem axle hanger kit you would want the part # APT3. The Never...
