Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I love the hitch. It was at my door along with 4 other items. Randall is as good as it gets! not only did he set me up with all the harnesses needed for the install on my 2011 e 350 van, he hooked ne up with an inexpensive break controller that works well with what I tow. He also hooked me up with a shower controll for my camper under $20. You can't beat it! I have his direct # for any questions that may develope. You can't beat this business and I love them. God bless America!

by:

The hitch looks like it's going to work great, just disappointed that the top of it was scratched and there's bare metal exposed that I have to take care of now.

by:
1998 Ford Van

The hitch went in like a charm, did not have to do any drilling on the van all the holes was in the right place. The only thing we had to do was add a 1/8 washer to the middle bolt on both sides.
I have installed 5 other hitches from etrailer and this one was the easiest.
Done in less than 1 hour and 2 person.

Love the hitch, but van was sold 4 months after the install thanks for the following up

Bolted right up. Remove charcoal canister, and lower spare and use it to rest the hitch on while you bolt it on.

by:

Ordered a trailer hitch form these folks received it in two days, had a great experience with the whole ordering process! Tammie was great !

by:

Product showed up as promised with easy to understand instructions took me about 30 minutes to install the trailer hitch and watching the video prior helped a lot

by:

Looks good and solid. Installation was almost as fast and easy as it was to unwrap! I used grip clamps to hold it in place on frame while I put the bolts in and drilled the 2 holes needed. Presto done.

by:
2008 Ford Van

I had it installed in about 15 minutes - in my driveway - by myself - with the help of two floor jacks (balances perfectly on the rear bolt holes). I found no need to remove the spare tire. Very easy installation with some options shown in the instructions for various models and years. I watched their installation video before hand, but really, it's about as straight forward as it could be.

My work van is a standard wheelbase 2008, E-250 with factory step bumper. This receiver fits perfectly with all the needed hardware included. Nothing to move out of the way - 6 nuts and bolts, with some spacers and washers and that's it!.

My van has become too loaded to fit a bike inside anymore. So now I'll have no excuse to not bring a bike along on longer service trips.

etrailer: thanks again!

Etrailer.com is nothing short of AMAZING. I would give the web site, pricing, instructions, ease of installation, delivery, and final install 10 stars if that was an option. The fit was absolutely flawless. Customer service was great when I called to check on my order. From the time I went on the site to see if I could find one for my vehicle it was at my house 3 Days later and installed. Takes 20 mins to install. All you need is a torque wrench and an open face wrench. Both 3/4 inch. Thank you so much etrailer.com. I can’t wait to shop with you again. Happy Holidays!

All the holes in the frame lined up perfectly

by:
Ford

Although I haven't used the hitch to tow with yet, it bolted up perfectly. As I knew, I had to drill the two fore mounting holes on my vehicle. The hitch fit the frame of my 90's Ford E-150 perfectly. All hardware was present and accounted for. The instructions were easy enough to follow. The hitch received a bump along the way on shipment which scratch some paint, but that seems to be standard operating procedure for the carriers these days. etrailer's service was very polite, professional and accurate. I was off the phone in minutes and received the product in short order.

I'll order again if the needs arises

The hitch has continued to be great. No problems to report. I liked etrailers responsible business attitude enough that I just ordered a hitch and wiring harness for my ford explorer which also bolted up beautiful and looks like it will work great.

Excellent experience. Customer service person was very knowledgeable. She found the right part for my van quickly. She asked several questions to make sure I was getting the right pat and also everything else I would need for the install. She shipped the hitch and electrical assembly the same day for next day delivery. As soon as it shipped she sent my tracking number and followed up with me a soon as it arrived to make sure everything was good.

My mechanic had no problem with the install - perfect fit. This is my third order with etrailer. I'll ever buy any where else.

I made the decision to purchase this hitch based on what I thought was a good price and that from the picture it looked like a good design and quality. The ordering process was easy and I received it quicker than I expected. Also, a few days after it came in, I received a follow up email to see how I like it which was appreciated. When it came time to installing the hitch the first thing that stood out to me was how it was how well it was packaged. They made effort to keep it from moving too much in the box and to protect the paint on the hitch which told me that they really cared and took pride in their product (seems like a rare thing these days sometimes). The hitch it's self did not disappoint either, nice looking welds, paint and design/construction. Also it fit great and everything needed to install it was included. Thanks etrailer for a great product!

Fast shipping, arrived 1 day early. no hassle ordering. Sheila C. was helpful answering my questions.
I installed hitch by myself with the help of a floor jack. It took me exactly the amount of time the instructions said it would, without rushing.
This hitch was installed on my 2013 Ford E150 with a step bumper. no issues with bumper or spare.
Fit nicely, holes lined up , did not even remove the spare tire.
The install video is helpful to review.

great, used it to pull some small stumps after the hurricane, with a strap. no damage, well made.

Fits like a glove! I never have had a problem with parts from etrailer

The hitch appears to be of good quality. I was told by your company that (2) Holes would have to be drilled in the Chassis Rails to install the hitch. That was incorrect. The 1995 Ford E350 Ckub Wagon does not have any holes that can be used for this purpose. Please correct the installation information accordingly. Using 'Stars' to indicate rating is useless for it does not reflect the product or associated communication(s) with your company. Additionally, how can you rate any product that has not been tested under numerous conditions ?

The installation instructions for a pre 1992 models are listed on page 2 of 4. The instructions indicate indicate that the hitch should be used as a template and 3 holes should be drilled on each side , then fasteners should be installed accordingly.

Extremely disappointed to find out that the Custom Fit for 1989 E 150 Draw Tite hitch still needs an additional hardware package not mentioned or suggested when ordering. It is minimal hardware: $3, maybe that is keeping me from a proper Install. Just Disappointed! Just like X-mas.

You mentioned that you needed additional hardware for your van and I wanted to see if you could be more specific on what was needed? I did research with the manufacturer and for 1991 and older E-350 vans with a 124 inch wheel base will require the adapter fastener kit part # 02626.

Product installed easily under my van. I torqued everything and it felt really solid and secure. Have only hooked up bike racks and cargo baskets to it, but I’m sure I could hook up a trailer to it no problem.

by:

Very durable and easy installation. I’ve made multiple 400 mile trips with 6x12 uhaul trailer full of custom cabinets (easily a few thousand lbs) and have had no trouble at all. I installed the hitch in about an hour in the dead of winter. Would’ve taken half the time if it wasn’t so cold.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 1997 Ford E-250
Michelle, it does not look like Reese makes a trailer hitch for your '97 Ford Van, unfortunately. Instead, I'd suggest going with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14053. Curt makes great products so I'm fairly confident this will work just fine in place of the Reese. This hitch has a max weight capacity of 10,000 lbs, a max tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs, and is custom fit to your vehicle so it will bolt right up.
