Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Second one I purchased. Simple to install, an lives up to it's name of "hidden hitch". Installed on a Lexus RX 350 and didn't want hitch showing when not in use. Wiring package also easy to install. Just a simple plug-in. Delivery was quick and everything came in one box.

by:

Bolts up easy. Took me about 30 minutes.

by:
2011 Lexus RX 350

Product came quickley, DH installed in no time. Looks great

by:

Product came in new condition, properly protected during shipping. Instructions were excellent and very easy to complete. I was totally satisfied with how the job came out. One thing- when actually lifting the hitch into place for connection to the frame, this really requires two people. Very happy with etrailer.com.

by:

Hitch was received on the designated tracking day arrival information & installed without a hitch ( pun intended). Instructions were very good & complete. I would say that I was not expecting to use a utility knife for panel alteration, but fear not faint of heart, just follow the instructions & all will be well. I did experience a small problem with the tailpipe ending up too close to the new hitch, causing a "bump" against the hitch when the engine torqued during starting. This was cured with a strong tweak from a crow bar on the tailpipe bracket. No problems!

by:
2012 Lexus RX 350

Installation was very easy and straight forward. Cutouts for appearance package on the passenger side of the appearance panel are a bit larger then required but overall not an issue (template in the instructions would be nice). Relocation of exhaust hangar as depicted on the installation guide is required in order for the hitch not to rest on the tail pipe. I was able to complete this project by myself with the vehicle in my garage, a impact wrench was need to remove the bolts holding on the tow hooks.

This is my second hitch purchased through eTrailer

As did the first, this hitch fits perfectly and included great instructions and the exact bolts needed for my vehicle.

The YouTube video was also a great help to visualize the assembly and mounting process.

Purchasing was easy and shipping was fast!

Thanks eTrailer!

It’s working out really well. I hope the review helped. I own a software company and realize how important quality reviews are to a business

by:
2011 Lexus RX 450h

I had prepped my Lexus prior to the hitch being delivered. The video was an extremely great help locating all the bolts, screws and plastic plugs. My only trouble was with the lower appearance panel placing it back on. I had to do a little additional cutting, slightly more than the video showed, but than again the video was a RX350 and mine is a RX450H, so there may be some difference there. But the install was easy, I did it by myself, carefully, and am a very happy camper. Now if only we were able to go somewhere.

Great!Perfect fit.

by:

I chose this brand because it is symmetric left to right. The other brand is not. I believe the other brand likely chose to be different left to right so the hitch could accommodate the exhaust pipe better. This hitch requires that you install the exhaust hanger on the hitch, quite a bit lower than stock. This is, in my view, sub-optimal. There are more stresses on the hanger rubber, and the pipe is closer to the ground. Had I know this I would likely have chosen the other brand. Hopefully the image I uploaded shows you the concern I have.

Hitch has worked as expected to carry my bike rack around. No rust, no durability concerns. Exhaust, although lower, has not been affected by its lower position.

RX 450H 2012
I can only add to the
other reviews that I installed this on my own. To lift the hitch into place I lifted one side, installed a washerless bolt and repeated on the other side. This allowed installing the other bolts with washer easily. Also I did this on the ground although I had access to several forms of lifts. Lifts are not required.
The plastic under shield had mold in lines near the hitch- I followed these. I also found a hacksaw to cut easily and that a razor knife with 3-4 scores was better than cutting through in one slice. The side cut for the hitch I measured from a mounting bolt and guestimated. The mounting hole can be seen in the image and the marker just made out.

I had a scheduled hitch installation, arrived for drop-off, and was advised that "We don't install on Lexus, you need a special tool to cut the under-bumper trim panel". This was very inconvenient, as I needed it for a Boy Scout canoe trip the following week. I was directed to your site by our Assistant Scout Master who assured me this was an easy installation. Your site directed me to a series of appropriate hitches, I selected this one and an electrical hook-up, placed the order on Wednesday 6-14-2017, scheduled to arrive Monday 6-19-17, but arrived at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday 6-17-17--bonus! In a light rain, with no stand jacks (I was going to borrow some), it took me about 40 minutes to do the mechanical and electrical installation. More than half of that was getting the trim panel off, as I had to awkwardly scoot beneath the car. It took another 45 minutes to trim the panel, initially with a plastic blade of a jig saw, final trim with just a utility knife (so much for "special" Lexus tools!). I had to abandon re-mounting the factory tie-down points, as there was slight metal interference with the cross bar of the hitch. I have a grinder and could have made it fit in another few minutes, but I have no need for the tie-down points, I nevertheless kept them for potential future re-installation.

The directions were spot on good, everything fit perfectly to the car. There was some slight ambiguity with the side cut for the trim panel--I'm sure there's a better diagram of that cut online somewhere, but with fouled hands and being pretty well soaked by rain at this point, I just did the final fit by trimming and test fitting until it worked. Photo attached. So now I have the hitch--beautifully installed, I humbly add--and I saved over $200 dollars over what U-Haul wanted for their hitch.

by:

Very Clean install. Installation video was concise and easy to follow. Between the Trailer, trim cutout, and electrical install with Item #118252, I was done start to finish in about three hours.

2015 Lexus RX 350

I ordered and received a trailer hitch and wiring kit for my 2015 RX350 and also received a very informative video with it. It fit great and is almost invisible and no drilling was necessary. The only issue I had was I was supposed to reuse 2 of the bolts to rehang the exhaust but my bolts were tapered on the end and wouldn't fit so I had to use some generic bolts. But it's still a great product.

by:
2012 Lexus RX 350

Quality product. All hardware was there in spite of the fact that my unit may have been a return. I don’t know if a cosmetic plug was included but my unit did not have one. I’m a mechanical engineer who studied welding and can tell you they have good QC in that regard. Also …. Re: fit and finish …. The holes lined up well. I also appreciate the Bellville type heavy duty ‘lock’ washers. I’d recommend /buy again.

by:
2015 Lexus RX 450h

Install was a breeze and the product feels very sturdy. Everything needed was included. Only issue was the instruction sheet included was for a Dodge Dart but no worries, the install video more than made up for it.
Hitch doesn't stick out and looks like it is supposed to be there.

Very pleased with advice I received from customer service about my recent purchase of a hitch and wiring harness for my 2013 Lexus RX350. All my questions about the best hitch for pulling our boat and outboard motor were answered. The order arrived on the scheduled delivery day, and was packaged in a convenient carrying box. All necessary parts and hardware were included with the delivered package. I installed the hitch according to the available online installation video, and the enclosed illustrated installation diagram. The installation went well and there were no installation glitches. I'm impressed with the quality of the product, which is solidly constructed, and it fits my RX350 exactly. I recommend etrailer to customers seeking reliable customer service advice, well-constructed quality products, and on-time delivery.

After one year of use,the Draw-Tite trailer hitch that I installed per instructions is performing well. No rust on the metal, all mounting bolts tight, wiring harness not cracked. I tow an 18-foot outboard fishing boat with trailer. This hitch is solidly constructed, and provides excellent service. Morris B.

The installation is straightforward, and with the trimming of the bodywork, its a truly custom/oem look and you absolutely cannot see the crossbar from the rear of our RX350, only the protruding receiver itself. It looks and functions great, HOWEVER...
After using a bike rack and other things, it has become apparent that there was a slight manufacturer defect in this hitch where the square receiver is welded in crooked and clocked to the right (clockwise) ever so slightly. No effect to trailers due to being on the ball hitch, but with bicycle racks, or a basket attachment, they will appear crooked or bent over to one side due to the square not being straight. It took some time to figure this out and by then, the hitch had been well used and not worth trying to return so there it remains. We thought our bike rack was bent. On other vehicles its perfect. Same as the basket attachment. Hard to spot with the naked eye but once you see it, you can't un-see it. So the trailer hitch is a good design but sadly ours was defective. It's functional but flawed.

After a year the hitch is still here and part of the vehicle. It will never be removed. Definitely an upgrade and I cant imagine having a vehicle in the stable thats unable to tow something. This one doesnt detract from the vehicles looks whatsoever.

2013 Lexus RX 350

I have never had a trailer hitch before so I'm no expert. However, the build quality seems to me to be excellent. Good welds, nice paint. Looks well made and seems heavy and strong. Installation was a breeze! The instructions were good but the online videos provided were invaluable! Excellent. I installed this on my 2013 Lexus RX350 in about an hour with the help of my son. Really the only help you might need is to lift it in place to get the first bolts started. It's just easier for two people. Other than that, it's an easy one man job. Used it about five times already and have had no issues except for hitch rattles. Annoying but normal. Highly recommended.

excellent

by:

This was my second trailer hitch. The unit was fairly easy to install and works as advertised. My once complaint is the appearance of rust on the interior of both units after ~ 8 months. The unit doesn't appear to be high quality steel. I use the units to transport bikes as opposed to anything heavy so I can't state that brittle fracture wouldn't occur if I tried to pull anything of significant weight. That said, I think that hitches are excellent for my purposes.

One thing you can try is using a hitch cover like part # 22282. It would cut down on the amount of water, dirt, and debris that is able to get into the receiver while not using your hitch.

by:
2010 Lexus RX 350

Installation was relatively easy. I had to modify the tie down on the right side to permit re-installation. Trimming the skirt could have been helped by a template for cutting out the segments. The wiriung kit was easy to install, but a grommet for leading the wiring lead to the hitch would have been helpful.

I have used the hitch several times with no problems. The heaviest load I have towe was about 1,200 lbs. I have also used the hitch with a bicycle rack with no problems.

by:

Overall the installation of this trailer hitch went well. It took my son and me about 45 minutes to install it.

My only disappointment is that the tail pipe does bump (and rattle) against the hitch particularly when driving on bumpy roads.
A separate issue from the hitch is that the bike rack I inserted into the hitch now sets off my back-up sensors any time I put the car into reverse- very annoying (but not an issue of the hitch).

Patrick B. profile picture

Patrick B.

11/26/2012

Most newer vehicles have a switch somewhere on the radio dash or steering that will deactivate the back-up sensors. You can turn them back on when you do not have the bike rack installed. Some vehicles that do not have this switch can have the alarm turned off at the dealership. As far as the hitch rattle, it does happen from time to time, but we have a collection of fixes to get it to go away. Most often it is caused by the position of the exhaust. Since the welded hangars on the exhaust pipes dont have to be exact, you will find variance from vehicle to vehicle. Often times a pair of pliers and a quick tweak of the hangar is enough. Or you can swap out the rubber isolators for a different size to move the pipes some. We have got a whole FAQ and Help article written on the subject below. www.etrailer.com/faq-fixing-exhaust-rattle.aspx

Had some challenges with the website displaying hitches available for my year, make and model (these website issues have since been resolved). The sale would have been lost at that point except that, etrailer also has live agents available to call. The agent and I worked though my needs and found the appropriate parts for my car. The parts arrived expeditiously and on time (I was notified by email by etrailer at each step of the shipping process). All parts were correct and installed as advertised. This is the second trailer hitch I have purchased from etrailer and so far I would not buy from anywhere else. Highly recommend this company to others. Great customer service!!!

If you see a hitch there it's a good chance you've got the tow package, but since you just said you installed a hitch there's a good chance...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Trailer Wiring Harness for 2012 Lexus RX450h
A Lexus dealer should be able to tell you how the vehicle's equipped if you provided them with the VIN. You can also determine this for yourself using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the trailer wiring connector located behind the bumper under the driver's side of the vehicle at the rear (see provided photo). Have a helper activate each turn signal function as you probe the pins in the connector under the vehicle. If the plug is active, all you'll need is the # 118252. If it's not...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2019 Lexus RX 350
For your 2019 Lexus RX 350, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75676 is not a fit as you discovered. It is only a fit for 2010-2015 models of the RX 350 excluding the F Sport. For your 2019 model, you instead will want the Curt # C73DR which is confirmed to fit as long as you don't have the F Sport model. It is an easy installation that will take about 30 minutes. I've attached a video as well as the installation details to assist. If you...

  • Do the 2010 and 2011 Lexus RX 450h Model Years Use The Same Trailer Hitch Receiver?
The 2010 and 2011 model years of the Lexus RX 450h have the same frame and style. The hitch receivers are the same for both years in our fit guide. I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch Reciever, # 75676, because it has a slightly easier installation. This hitch receiver will allow you to tow the maximum your vehicle is rated for. If you are doing a reinstallation, you may need the replacement hardware kit, # RHK. If you plan to tow with this hitch, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount...

  • Recommended 2-Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2010 Lexus RX 350
We offer three brands of Class III hitch for your 2010 Lexus RX 350 that can be seen on the linked page. All of them require SOME amount of trimming of the rear fascia but none requires any drilling. Between the options I recommend the Curt # C13143 because it is lowest in price and has a higher tongue weight capacity (600-lbs) than the Draw-Tite # 75676. All hitches include the required mounting hardware; written instructions, a video and an article on hitch installation are linked also. If...

  • What Wiring Harness Will Fit A 2010 Lexus RX350 That Does Not Have The Factory Tow Package
Since you do not have the factory tow package on your 2010 Lexus RX350 you will need to use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118478. This harness connects in-line with the running light, brake light and turn signal circuit, and will work great on your 2010 Lexus RX-350. The T-One wiring harness draws power directly from the vehicles battery via an in-line fuse so your electrical system is safe. Part # 118478 is designed this way to protect your electrical system. There would...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2011 Lexus RX 350 to Carry Thule Apex Swing
Both of the hitches you referenced would fit your 2011 Lexus RX 350 and would work great with the Thule Apex Swing Bike rack part # TH9027XT. Since it has a shorter install time listed I would recommend the Draw Tite part # 75676 and also because currently it has the better price than the # C13143 (subject to change).
