Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

After having to lever it in order to fit, I was able to bolt together for a very tight fit. Never know if that was a vehicle issue or hitch issue but I made it work! Installation is not a one person job. Have only towed a railer a couple of times but seems to be an excellent product once installed. Very solid. 795345

If it fits it's easy to install. Mine came with no hardware so my express shipping was wasted waiting in parts. Customer service was very polite. Would not line up correctly so I used ratchet straps and another truck to line it up. Now I need a wire harness. Should I buy from etrailer? Hmm thinking 783432

I purchased the trailer hitch for my 2006 Honda Ridgeline, installed it myself, took approximately 1. 5 hours. I would recommend having someone help you, it would be much easier. All the bolt holes lined up perfectly and the installation went very smoothly. Great product!! 766892

This product was very poorly inspected by the manufacturer, the weld on the plate that attaches the (2) smaller bolts to the back of the truck was way, way off making installation impossible. If it wasn’t for my persistent mechanic having to open up the holes on the six bolts that attaches underneath to make it fit, I would have returned it. Very disappointed, took over two hours to make it fit. 697594

This thing was misaligned at the center plate, and also at one end. The mounting holes were off by at least 1/4 inch. If you don't have tools , it wont work. I had to bore out the hole to get it to line up to the vehicle. we also had to bend the center plate to get the alignment to work. Took 5 tries bringing down, drilling, putting it back up. There is zero precision. However, we have a trip in the next couple of days and returning neither guaranteed that we would get one that on time and that it was better than this. OEM needs to pay better attention to QC and measurements. that enter plate was welded 1/4 off. That and the misalignment at the ends, made me bore out the holes. Good thing I do metal work. Good luck. Took about 2 hours. The box arrived pretty trashed, and scratches on the hitch. That is a don't care for me, its a hitch. However, they did not sand blast the metal prior to powder and any thing that will hit this will chip off the powder. I am just pointing out facts, I would buy it again. its pretty solid once installed. I would recommend they would provide grade 8 hardware. 680240

Comments
Based on your photos, the trailer hitch appears to have been welded incorrectly - which caused your center plate bolt holes to be off by approximately 1/4 inch. Making modifications to a trailer hitch is strongly discouraged as it can compromise the integrity of the hitch. An incorrectly welded bracket would fall under a warranty issue.

2006 Honda Ridgeline

While this hitch is sturdy and built well, it is not necessarily well built. During installation, wiggling the hitch into the tight confines of my 2006 Honda Ridgeline, was not too difficult. What was difficult was getting the holes to line up. The first problem was that after getting two bolts engages on the driver's side, the passenger side holes were nowhere near aligning. I realized that the center support was preventing the passenger side bracket from moving into the proper position. After wrangling the hitch out from under the truck, I inspected the it. The center plate was still square as it should be, but I did have to smack it a couple times to bend it to clear. After wrestling the hitch back under the truck, I realized that the elongated holes where not elongated in the right direction, making them useless for adjustment. Once I finally did get the bolts into the holes, I then noticed that the center plate wasn't even close to aligning with the holes. Seriously!!!! 638830

The workmanship was very nice continuous flowing welds. paint was complete and no runs, decals were were properly placed. The two bolt tab that bolted to the bumper structure had to be bent back an 1/8" with a two pound maul. We used an ATV jack to lift the center in place while we each held up a side and started all the bolts, and once all bolts were on, tightened them down with a torque wrench as in the directions. Installing the hitch took about two hours. The shipping box was handy to lay on in the driveway, once we pulled out the staples and spread it out. It was solidly built, a professional job and a nice addition to my Ridgeline pickup. 610038

2008 Honda Ridgeline

2 suggestions: 1. Before installation, use WD40 and nylon brushes to clean all eight bolt holes/threads on the Ridgeline so that the bolts will turn in easily. 2. If the holes on the hitch don't line up with the holes on the Ridgeline, the center piece of the hitch may need bent back a little. Use a large mallet hammer to bend slightly, providing more play to align all the holes. Easy install otherwise. 595143

Hasn’t fallen off yet! Seriously though, I purchased my hitch 1 year ago, for the sole purpose of towing a trailer 3000 miles, from California to western New York State. The hitch did it’s job. I use it when renting equipment from Home Depot and such. BUY IT. You won’t be sorry. 578915

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2007 Honda Ridgeline with an Existing 4-Way Connector
To add a 7-way trailer connector to your 2007 Honda Ridgeline our # ETBC7 kit will do exactly what you want. It's intended for electric brake controllers but not having a controller connected won't hurt anything. And if you install the # ETBC7 you'll already have everything you need to add a controller later. Another option is to install the adapter, part # 37185, that is included with the # ETBC7 kit and not connect the other three wires. This way you'll have a 7-way connector but...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2007 Honda Ridgeline
Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite are from the same parent company. Hidden Hitch has actually been discontinued but the 2 are identical except for the stickers that are on them. I would go with Draw-Tite hitch # 75280 for your 2007 Honda Ridgeline since it is the brand that is going to continue on. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise...

  • Draw-Tite Hitch # 75280 Does Not Align With Mounting Holes on 2007 Honda Ridgeline
The Draw-Tite Hitch # 75280 is the correct hitch receiver specified for the 2007 Honda Ridgeline though it does present a fairly tight fit within the available mounting space between the frame rails. The two installation video links provided will show you the process on the 2007 and 2008 Ridgeline. It is helpful to have a second set of hands available when working the hitch into the mounting position. Try to get the driver-side bracket into position before doing the same with the passenger...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Honda Ridgeline that is Rated for Weight Distribution
The Draw Tite hitch part # 75280 is a fit for your 2006 Honda Ridgeline and is compatible with weight distribution. This hitch has higher towing capacities than the Curt so it would be what I would recommend. That being said this hitch (and all of our hitches for your vehicle), do not have a mount for factory trailer wiring.

Good news! I can help you outfit your 2007 Honda Ridgeline with all the parts you mentioned to be ready to tow. The hitch I recommend is the Draw-Tite # 75280, because of its high towing capacity. It's important to note that you will be limited by your lowest rated part which may end up being your vehicle so you will want to be sure to check your owners manual for any limitations. The 4-pole harness I recommend for your vehicle is the # 118400, which will plug into your vehicle's...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Honda Ridgeline Towing a Trailer and Motorcycle
We offer two trailer hitches for your 2008 Honda Ridgeline by Curt # 13385 and Draw-Tite # 75280. The Draw-Tite has a slightly higher tongue weight capacity at 750 lbs than the Curt hitch, but the Curt hitch is more economically priced. The tongue weight capacity of the Curt hitch is 500 lbs. Both trailer hitches have a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 lbs. As long as the weight of your trailer and motorcycle do not exceed GTW or TW capacities of the hitch or your vehicle,...

  • Weight Distribution for 2007 Honda Ridgeline and 3200 Pound Rockwood Freedom 2318G
If my calculations are correct or at least close then if the trailer is loaded to the maximum of 3,260 pounds and the tongue weight is roughly 11 percent of the gross trailer weight then at the max trailer weight the tongue weight would be around 570 pounds after adding in 200 pounds loaded behind the rear wheels of your 2007 Honda Ridgeline. So basically the tongue weight range is 263 to 570 pounds depending on if it and the vehicle are loaded or not. If the trailer is not loaded to...
