Watched the video provided, made the install easy, fit perfect

This hitch is great. Matte finish looks way better with black plastic rear bumper than a glossy one. Installation is pretty straightforward, and you can simply remove the lower bumper fascia instead of taking the whole bumper off. If you have 2017 Macan - no need to disconnect the battery and disassemble anything in the trunk - just remove the lower fascia and that's it. No drilling is required for that model year.

Installed on my 2016 Audi Q5 with a video found on the etrailer Youtube channel. As others mentioned, the Q5 in the 2016 video is really a 2017, but it's close enough. The bolt plate insertion to the trunk pan is different than the 2014 video so be careful. The Ubolt install with the guide wires was a pain and the reason for 4-stars. The Ubolts easily tumble into the frame and are difficult to retrieve even with the wires on. I had to take the hitch off twice at that step and fish out the Ubolts with a thin, long Allen key. I ended up putting two nuts loosely on the top of the ubolts so they could not back into the frame. Then, align the hitch by bolting it to the trunk pan and muffler mounts and finish the install. Overall, this hitch is a great option as the Audi dealer quoted me nearly 10x the price to add a hitch ($2.5-$3k).

2015 Porsche Macan

Great hitch but came with too short of carriage bolts. They need to be about 1/4 " longer for the Macan. Also it did not come with Porsche Macan instructions.I only had to trim the rear cover 1/2 x3/4" and it looks factory.
I did speak with a tec guy a curt about the issues an he could have cared less.I liked there hitch and your service ,this my third hitch from you and I would order again .I mail you before the hitch got here and they e- mail a full copy of instructions for both Audi Q 5 and Porsche Macan to me that should have came with my hitch. Thanks to woman who helped me with the mail.
Just a heads up i spent over 30 years as auto tec for Three different car lines so I know my way around a car and this is my 5th hitch that I have installed. Great shipping speed. I tried to order a cargo carrier but the shipping was to much .I should have ordered it when I ordered the hitch. Thanks Frank

Good morning Frank,I have a 2015 Macan S that was built by my local dealer without roof rails or the tow package. I am looking at options outside of the ridiculously expensive Porsche OEM Hitch that needs to be installed by the dealer. Since you are a Macan owner I was hoping you could provide me with some feedback on the Curt13136 hitch. I was hoping to utilize this hitch to transport my road bike and possibly a 18 trailer. I was wondering how you handled the wiring since Porsche does not want to sell this outside of their OEM hitch solution. Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The wiring is available from Porsche now ! You will need a harness for the fuse box a control box and a harness to the trailer wiring, you will spend about $400 for the set up and will have it matched up to your car at the dealer, Then you can buy a plug that fits ur hitch wiring harness to match the 4 pin trailer plug Check the Macan Porsche site. I have heard they charge one hr @ 135 per hr,if you dont need the wiring right now I would wait for Curt to come out wit one later at a fraction of the cost. The dealer has a step by step install with photos on how to but u will need to capture the pics with your phone flash off.I may be doing this in a week or so ,if you get back next week will have all the pics and info u needA lot of money but I could have kicked the salesman for not telling me the factory install was a must @ $600,

I must Say I am very impressed with the customer service that was provided. I made a mistake on my order, and was able to get in touch with customer service in a little less than 5 minutes to resolve my issue. The item was shipped really fast! I received it maybe 2 days after ordering (it helped that I live in the neighboring state) but nonetheless it was quick to arrive. The item looks solid and has a nice gloss paint scheme to it with no big decals which is nice. Installation was not very challenging, it took maybe 1.5 hours. Once installed the trailer looks amazing, it sits subtlety underneath the car which is a big plus. I went ahead and purchased a hitch as well and it all looks great together.

I don't know how to to change my oil, but I was able to install this hitch!

I watched the video a couple of times, and it seemed pretty straight forward. It took me over 2 hours, only because I was super careful and have never done any work on my car or know much about cars. You definitely need 2 people to perform this task since someone has to hold the hitch in place, while the other person aligns the rack, and screws on the nuts in place. When placing the hitch in, line up the pieces in the furthest away first, then line up the holes in the front where the u-bolts are supposed to go.

Tip: I didn't have a jack, nor did I really need one, but for more space to work with, I parked it over a curb to gain 6 inches of more space to work with.

I believe that the trickiest part is when you have to push the u-bolts into the hole, put the rack over the hole alignment, then pull on the fishing wire to pull out the u-bolts again so it goes through the rack. If you are too forceful with shoving the rack in, the u-bolts get wedged/jammed, and it becomes difficult to pull on the fishing wire.

2011 Audi Q5

It is very good and of high quality. It took them quite sometime to work on my order and shipping too (almost 2 weeks) may be due to the pandemic but after I received it, I was really impressed. I followed the video and it took me 45 mins working on it by myself. I recommend it to anyone looking for a hitch like that. Good job guys.

Great product Great Customer Service !! Perfect fit for mu 2013 Audi Q5

by:

I must admit up-front that removing the bumper facia on my 2015 Audi Q5 was intimidating, however after watching the video [online] I felt confident that even I could complete this install.
The install was not too difficult but also not exactly like the video. You just need to see where the trex bolts are in the wheel well by feel.
The hitch is well hidden and looks like part of the original vehicle.

Overall I am very happy with the product and am proud to have drone it myself and not ruined my car! Thanks etrailer and Curt.

by:

Purchased this for my 2014 Audi Q5 TDI. Easy installation. I have purchased same hitch for my 2015 Audi Q5 TDI several months ago and no issues what so ever towing. Solid hitch along with clean appearance of factory install. Self Installed myself.

by:

Simply put - it went perfect:
1. Ordering
- put in my car model, type and year - crazy simple.
2. Shipping - came sooner than expected, much sooner.
3. Arrived at 6:30 pm had it in by 8:30 pm
4. 2.5 days from order to completion... seriously, didn't expect that.
5. email notification - had video of install requirements - priceless.
6. Product and hardware - all there, great condition
7. Install just like video - fishing the u-bolts, that was a trick, but the tolerances of everything were spot on and worth the extra effort.
8. End product looks fantastic, just what I wanted.
9. Took some pics - just a couple. Enjoy

by:

Fits perfect on 2013 Audi Q5 2.0T. Great instructions and arrived quickly. Bumper sensor clips a bit hard to get off, and torque for 1/2” bolts is too high on paper (I think said 110 but that snapped my bolt) but hitch is solid and installs very solidly.

by:

etrailer’s [online] videos on installation are absolutely priceless… It’s incredibly rare to get both a great product, price and exemplary service / support. Don’t waste your time looking elsewhere!

by:

Pretty easy installation (about 2 hrs) after we had to reshape the frame due to damage in shipping. When it arrived by UPS, it was poking thru the box and the box had no packaging material inside it. That's why I only gave it a 4 star.

Of course you will want to check your owners manual to see what Audi says the Q5 can handle, just because the hitch is rated that high does not mean the vehicle can handle that much weight. • Will U-Bolts Break Off Installing Curt or etrailer Hitch on 2015 Audi Q5
Hi Rick; we don't have any reports on our end for the Curt # C13136 or etrailer # e57AR regarding the U-bolts. It sounds to me like some people weren't careful and applied too much torque which is what caused the issue. They probably looked at the torque spec for the 1/2" hardware because they didn't read all of the steps. The U-bolts have their own torque spec which is significantly lower.

  • Best Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on 2016 Audi Q5
The best trailer hitch for a bike rack on your 2016 Audi Q5 is easily the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75940 because it offers the best bumper clearance and ground clearance of the hitches that fit your vehicle. This is a 2" hitch with a concealed crosstube, so not only does it mean your Audi keeps its clean look, but it means the hitch sits up higher and closer to the edge of the bumper than the Curt # C13136. The Curt hitch part # C13136 and the Draw Tite part # 75940 that fit your 2011 Audi Q5 have similar towing capacities but other than that they are pretty different. They attach to the vehicle in different places, the Draw Tite is more hidden since only opening hangs below bumper, and the install times are different with the Draw Tite taking about twice as long to install (roughly 1.5 hours). So the trade off is an easier install with the Curt or the more hidden appearance of the Draw Tite....
