Question:
So I now have a 2013 Audi Q5. I would like to install a trailer hitch on it with wiring. After some internet time, there are some who say to have an Audi dealer do this at great cost because of the need to adjust computer codes for towing. Your videos/explanations do not mention anything about computer codes. This is puzzling to me because your tips seem detailed. I would rather do this work myself with help of my mechanically inclined car guy friend. I know computer code updating is needed, though, when a hitch is installed. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Bolting on an aftermarket hitch like Curt 2-inch hitch # C13136 on your 2013 Audi Q5 will not affect your car's computer but in some instances installing a wiring harness will. Often the effect is simply a code appearing on the dash.
We do have both hardwired 4-pole kits like # C59236 but we also have the ZCI Zero Contact wiring kit # 119250KIT that requires no cutting or splicing of wires, hence no permanent alterations to the car. Often owners of nicer import vehicles, and those leasing a car, prefer this option. You can see this no-splice kit installed in a 2018 Q5 in the linked video.
My contact at Tekonsha confirmed that he has heard of no necessary computer-related coding requirement from installing either of the above harness products on your car.
