What is the difference between these 2 brands and why does the Curt Item # C13136 require stabilizing straps?

The Curt hitch part # C13136 and the Draw Tite part # 75940 that fit your 2011 Audi Q5 have similar towing capacities but other than that they are pretty different. They attach to the vehicle in different places, the Draw Tite is more hidden since only opening hangs below bumper, and the install times are different with the Draw Tite taking about twice as long to install (roughly 1.5 hours).

So the trade off is an easier install with the Curt or the more hidden appearance of the Draw Tite. I'd go with the Draw Tite if it was me.
