2004 Ford Ranger

Having installed more than a dozen trailer hitches throughout my life I can say that this was the easiest to install that I have done! Perfect fit, easy to attach with no issues. The hardest part was removing the J-bolt from the frame, and that wasn't that difficult really. I wish all of the hitches I have installed in the past were this easy! Big plus was how fast I got it, a day earlier that expected.

Still working great. Use it almost everyday. Bolts have never needed tightening and finish is still good with no rust or discoloration. Very pleased.
Douglas - 11/05/2021

Excellent hitch. Installed in less than 30 minutes. Exact fit

Hitch has worked flawlessly. Going to add one to the Tacoma soon without any hesitation.
Robbie - 12/21/2022

Fit a 2000 Ford ranger excellently, installation was easy, cardboard shipping box was a bit dinged up but that is due to how the shipping company handles it. No issues after 4 months.

The fit was perfect. Hardware was included and all the bolts lined up easy. Had it installed 25 min.

Ford Ranger

It does it's job. Towed a pop up camper with my Ford ranger across the country after installing this last year.

2001 Ford Ranger

I installed this on the front of my 2001 Ranger for using with a Snowbear snowplow. It has worked well for that, but also turned the truck into an invaluable trailer mule. I can now push trailers around when I need to rather than trying to back them into place. If you don't know what I mean, put one of these on the front of your truck and hook a trailer up--you'll see very quickly how handy it is.

2010 Ford Ranger

This hitch fits my 96 Ford Ranger quite well. As per the instructions, I had to drill two holes in the frame. It fit and it works. I use it quite often to pull a 5 x 10 ft trailer and large zero turn mower.

Fine. Use it a lot.
Howard L - 05/20/2020

May have shipped with incorrect hardware: had 4 carriage bolts and 6 base plates. its enough, but i bought two more bolts anyway.

great reciever, though. I'll only ever buy Curt.

1999 Ford Ranger

The hitch installed without a hitch. It took me alone, less than 45 minutes to get it on. Im very happy with my purchase the shipping time and etrailer as a whole. I'm only towing a 10 foot single axel but the stock bumper hitch was already bending my bumper. The new hitch seems very sturdy and will handle my small trailer just fine.

Works fine towing a tent trailer

A-OK all went well. Thank you.

1999 Ford Ranger

Awesome.!! Awesome project start to finish. etrailer was FAST. easy to do. even on a 21 year old truck

It's great! Works just as it's design to. I use it to haul around my 10' Jon boat with 5.5hp motor. I have no problems with it. Very easy to install. I just bolted it right on.

I got this for my 2005 Ford Ranger. It's just like the hitch they used to put on Rangers as standard equipment. Easy to install once you drop the spare tire. The spare will go back up just fine once you are done. It even fit with an aftermarket dual exhaust system.

Still have the truck hitch is still working fine. I use it to tow a small 4x10 feet utility trailer.
Robert T - 10/19/2021

I have bought 3 or 4 hitches from etrailer, they are a custom fit and very easy to install. Great product at a great price. Very fast shipping, got mine in two days.

Solid hitch with a reasonable price. Super easy to install, and very pleased with etrailer's fast shipping and customer service. Best price that I could find anywhere for a quality trailer hitch receiver with no drilling on my truck frame.

Very nice , heavy duty hitch fit my truck perfectly - did not even have to do any drilling . Rigged up a carrier on my Jack and braced my bumper with 2 - 2 ' stepladders, pulled old bolts and lifted hitch into place and bolted on , piece of cake one man operation.

Works fine, have used for trailers, extenders, bike racks, motorcycle rack, cargo hauler

1999 Ford Ranger

Hitch arrived in 3 days. Directions very clear. One hour start to finish as I did it alone with the help of the truck bottle jack. Much faster if 2 people. Perfect fit and spare tire cranks right back into place.

1991 Ford Ranger

Excellent receiver, easy to install even with having to drill two holes. Only reason I gave a less than excellent review is due to the bolts provided. I would have liked the bolts to be of a higher grade and better manufacture. Bolts made in the USA would have suited me better although the ones provided are of good enough quality for the majority of installations. It only took me about an hour to install the hitch on my 1991 ford ranger and it looks good.

one year later it is working well.

1999 Ford Ranger

High Quality chassis receiver hitch. Installation made easy with all needed bolts, nuts and hardware.

2004 Ford Ranger

Great service and great fit on truck.

1996 Ford Ranger

Easy install, great fit and finish. Clear instructions. Did it by myself I'm about an hour, didn't lower the spare tire or use jacks to support the hitch.

Great service every time. The hitch went in perfect with out a hitch. Pun intended

2003 Ford Ranger

Fit perfect, but doesn’t come with bolts, had to pick a couple up along with nuts and washers

It’s work great no problems at all

2005 Ford Ranger

No Drilling required. All of the holes lined up with my 2005 Ranger. I would have had it done in 20 minutes because I was too lazy to lower the spare tire. Took a while to make sure the shims were in place and line everything up with the spare tire in place. The wiring harness on the drivers side was also troublesome. Instead it took 45. Hint: Use a floor jack to lift the hitch in place. You just have to guide it a bit with one hand while you are jacking. No sweat. One person job.

  • Spare Tire Clearance With Curt Class III Receiver Part # 13019 Installed on 2003 Ford Ranger
According to my contacts at Curt Manufacturing, Ranger models manufactured after the 1997 model year will not have any spare tire clearance issues. You might find that temporarily removing the spare during the install will allow more working room. I do not currently have any photos of this particular hitch installed on a 2003 Ranger.

  • Replacing OEM Trailer Hitch on 2010 Ford Ranger with Curt Hitch 13019
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13019 is a fit for a 2010 Ford Ranger. It can be used to replace a factory hitch no problem. It does state in the instructions that drilling is required for some models but it should not be required if you already have a factory hitch in place. Therefore, there should be no modifications needed.

  • Will a Curt Trailer Hitch from a 1997 Ford Ranger Fit a 2006 Ford Ranger
We have come across similar issues though perhaps not specifically on Ford Rangers. Like you said Curt trailer hitch # 13019 fits both the 1997 and 2006 Ford Ranger. But if you look at the instructions which I have linked for you it mentions that drilling is required but on some models the holes may already be present. I think that on your 1997 the holes were present and on the newer 2006 the holes needed are not there. Regardless you will need to drill to install the hitch on the 2006. The...

The difference between the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch part # 13019 and the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch part # 13138 is strictly aesthetics. The square tube option is a bit more cost effective and it matches the body lines on your 1992 Ford Ranger so this is what I recommend. I have attached a photo of each so you can compare them side by side.

Hitches for the Liberty were not designed with the Ford Ranger in mind, and will not fit your 2001 Ford Ranger. If you would like to add a hitch to your 2001 Ford Ranger, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13019. This hitch was specifically designed for your 2001 Ford Ranger and will fit all models. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and tongue weight of 400 lbs. If you would prefer the look of a square tube then the # 13019 also fits your Ford Ranger Edge. We offer both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III hitches for your 2002 Ford Ranger with flare-side bed. I suggest the 2-inch hitch since it offers broader compatibility with hitch-mounted accessory items. All options are shown on the linked page. Curt Class III hitch # 13019 is a square tube hitch confirmed to fit your truck, and so is the round tube hitch # 13138.
