We have trailer hitches for your 2004 Ford Ranger that are designed to fit a full size spare tire, but unfortunately Draw-Tite does not provide a list of what size spare tires will and will not fit to determine if your P225/70-15 size spare tire will work with the Draw-Tite # 75082 trailer hitch.
To be certain that the hitch will not interfere with your spare tire, a Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, such as the Round Tube # 13138 or the Square Tube # 13019, will be the best option as these hitches are designed to not interfere with a full size spare tire. Between these two hitch options, many customers prefer the round tube designed to the square tube when the crossbar tube is visible.
The part of this hitch that limits the fit of the spare tire is the crossbar above the hitch receiver. Since this crossbar sits higher than those on the Curt Class III Trailer Hitches, such as # 13019, the Draw-Tite # 75082 crossbar may come into contact with larger, full-size spare tires.
I have attached installation videos of the Draw Tite and Curt Round Tube Trailer Hitches for you, as well as the installation instructions of all of the hitches.
If your Ranger came with no factory wiring and you need a trailer wiring harness, the Hopkins Plug-In Wiring Harness # HM40655 is a great option.
