There are several available hitches for your 1999 Ford Ranger. I would not recommend the 1-1/4" Class II Curt hitch, which leaves three other available options. There are two different Curt Class III hitches, the # 13019 as well as the Curt Round Tube # 13138 hitch. The third option is the Draw-Tite # 75082 Max Frame Receiver Hitch.
I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75082 over the others. The hitch is less visible with a concealed cross tube which gives it a better look when installed on your Ford Ranger.
If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118325 for wiring if you do not have a factory trailer connector or the Tekonsha Tow Package Wiring Harness # 118241 if you do have the factory trailer connector.
