Tips for Replacing and Installing Trailer Fenders

  • Do your best to match the dimensions of the new fender to your old one.
    • If a fender was damaged during a blowout, use the opposite fender to get the dimensions.
  • As with all trailer maintenance, don't forget to chock your wheels before getting started.
  • For a bolt-on fender, use your existing mounting hardware, if possible.
    • The old mounting bolts or screws might be stripped or rusted, in which case you'll need to tap them out and buy new hardware.
  • If removing an old, welded-on fender, either carefully chisel it off yourself or take your trailer to a weld shop to have the fender professionally removed.
  • Don't forget to prime and paint the new fender to keep it from rusting (and to match your trailer's finish).
  • Before you start drilling, position the fender where you need it and center it over your wheel well.
    • Mark where you need to drill (measure twice, drill once).
  • Don't tighten down the mounting hardware completely until you're sure the fender is mounted correctly.

Had a blowout and it took a fender off. Replaced it with 2 round ones. Also replaced the taillights and a couple of clearance lights while I was working on it. Turned out great. Thanks

by:

It rusted within 3 days of purchase. When I returned the item I received less than half of what I originally paid. (I originally paid $43 I only got $14 back. Their excuse is the cost of shipping, but they gave me a shipping label that said the product was 40 lbs (again the actual product is less than half the weight of that). Bad product, worse customer service.

by:

This is a better finder than the original, which was on my inTech Trailer. It does not come pre-drilled or painted. I highly recommend this finder and command.

by:

I had to replace a damaged fender on my trailer. I purchased the replacement from Etrailer. The fender was an exact match to the factory fender. Definitely worth the purchase.

by:

Brittany was fantastic customer service !! The two fenders got here in really good time, Thank you. Very good communication thru the whole process. When I need trailer parts, E trailer.com is where I will shop !! Thanks again to Brittany.
Fenders will be on the trailer in about 2 weeks, so no pictures yet.

by:

Great value and fast service. I placed an order of 2 fenders and a roof vent on Tuesday, and it was on my door step in Wisconsin by Friday. Definitely will shop here again for future projects...

by:

Was just what was needed..

by:

It's the exact match for my 2018 Winnebago Winnie Drop fender for my trailer. I called Winnebago and they wouldn't give me the part# to search the internet with. I took a chance, scored!

by:

1 year review- I actually didn’t use the trailer fenders on a trailer. I use the fenders as whee wells on a truck that I am building. No issues on quality.

by:

Great product. Great quality. I actually use these as a start to making custom fenders for my builds. The provide a great start for a great price. Will order more.

by:

Appreciate the heavy gauge metal. The edges were easy to work with.

by:

The fender(s) turned out great. My goal was to match the front fenders on John Milner's '32 Ford 5 window coupe in America Graffiti. For more specs, it was a 14" fender split in two and as you can see from the picture it sits well on the 17" tires.

by:

Better quality/thickness than the stock fender on our ice house trailer, this one should last more than 3 years

by:

  • Replacement Fender Options For a Utility Trailer With 32" Between Fender Mounting Brackets
The Single Axle Trailer Fender # HP56VR is 32" long at its widest portion of the fender. The fender is also 9" wide and 15" tall which you can compare to your current fenders to determine if this will work as a replacement. We do have the Fulton # F008564 plastic fenders which may work for your application. These fenders are 31-5/16" long at the widest point. They are also designed for a 14" wheel and tire but you can verify if they will fit with the 9-11/16" width and 12-3/4" height.

  • Replacement Fender For Drivers Side Of a 2018 Winnebago Winnie Drop 170K Travel Trailer
While I have no way to lookup exactly what fenders are installed on your 2018 Winnebago Winnie Drop 170K I do see it has 14" wheels from the factory. This would mean the Fender # HP38VR would be the most likely candidate. But you will want to take measurements off your fender to verify the correct size. This fender is 9" Wide by 30" long and 13-1/4" tall. The Fender # HP56VR you found is for 15" wheels and is 9" Wide by 32" long and 15" tall. If your fender is different in size from either...

We offer 2 options for fender back plates. For a back plate closest to the measurements you provided, the Pre-Cut Fender Back # 10FB-32R measures 10-1/2 inches wide x 29-3/4 inches long. This fender back is designed to fit the etrailer brand Fender # HP56VR For a wider fender back, the # 12FB-32R measures 12 inches wide x 30 inches long. This fender back is also designed for the # HP56VR fender. Either of these fender backs will also work in a 10-3/4 inches wide x 32 inches long fender...

  • Strength of Steel Fender to Withstand 200 lb Utilizing as a Step
The Single Axle Trailer Fender # HP56VR is made of 14 gauge steel and has one edge that is a 90 degree angle to weld it to your trailer and the other has a more rolled edge. The strength of the fender and ability to hold 200 lbs is based on your mounting. To stand on this fender, you will need to not only weld the edge but also as you stated add brackets which will support the weight. The steel is strong, but I recommend using brackets that can hold the weight on their own to ensure...

  • Looking for Replacement Steel Fenders
I have looked through the various steel trailer fenders we offer, and have not found any that match the exact measurements you provided. The closest fender I found was the CE Smith Pre-Galvanized Steel Fender, part # CE17701G. This fender measures 23-1/2 long by 7-1/16 inches wide by 6-1/2 inches tall (see photo).

  • Availability of 11 x 32 x 15 Inch Fenders for Single-AxleTrailer
We can come pretty close to those measurements, assuming that the 10x32x15 you stated meant 11 inches wide, 32 inches long and 15 inches tall. The fender you were looking at would work for you, but the etrailer brand # HP56VR Steel Single Axle Trailer Fender, part # HP56VR measures 9 inches wide, 32 inches long and 15 inches tall and would come closer to the measurements you provided. These would work well for replacing your current fenders.

  • How To Measure a Boat Trailer Fender Without Removing the Wheel
I can understand that if your boat is loaded on the trailer, you don't want to remove one of the wheels to measure the fenders. Measuring a fender with the tire still mounted can be tricky, but it's not impossible. I've provided a diagram that should be helpful. You already know how to measure the width. To get the length it is easiest to tape a piece of stiff paper to the end of each fender edge that will protrude past the wheel. Then measure between the papers. For the height, you can...

  • Fender Needed for a tire that is 27 Inches Tall and 12-1/4 Inches Wide
The 16-Gauge Steel, Single-Axle Trailer Fender w/ Backing, item # HP36VR, that you mentioned would be large enough for the 27 inch tall dimension you gave, since most 15 inch tires are just over 27 inches tall, but the width of your tire would require that you get a much wider fender. We do not have a fender that is 12-1/4 inches wide but you could use the fender you mentioned, cut off the rolled lip on the outside of the fender, and then use a # HP56VR fender without back, cut off the...

If you can drop that info in the comments below, I am happy to look into it and see if we have anything similar.

  • Coupler and Tire Size on 50s Era Bantam Utility Trailer
A trailer coupler will often be stamped to indicate the compatible ball size but on an older 50s-era trailer there's no guarantee this is there or that it is still visible after all those years. Hitch balls offered nowadays include five different sizes but a small utility trailer such as a 50s Bantam is likely to use one of the smallest sizes, either a 1-7/8-inch like # 19256 or perhaps a 50mm size like # 63912. Note that you also need to match the hitch ball shank size to the ball mount...
