Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Trailer Axles - Trailer Axle Beam Super Lube Spindle 82 Inch - LC74FP

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Lippert trailer axle beam with super lube spindles. Now this is a 7,000 pound trailer axle that's designed for someone who either needs to replace an existing axle with matching dimensions or maybe they want to build out their trailer's running gear with components that they choose separately. The main thing to understand about this axle is this is a beam only setup. So you're going to be getting the axle beam with the straight spindles, but you're not going to be getting the hubs, the brakes, the leaf springs and the other components needed for a complete axle assembly.

So if you need those components, we do carry them here at etrailer. But this is going to be useful in that if those components that you have are still in good shape or if you want to select them individually for a new trailer build, that's what this is going to be for. So this is going to measure 82 inches hub face to hub face. And then it has a 64 inch length between the spring centers. Now those measurements should be compared with your trailer's existing axle because trailer axles aren't universally interchangeable as I'm sure you can understand.

Now this is also going to be an under slung axle. So that means that the leaf springs are going to sit below this axle beam and that arrangement is going to keep the trailer lower than an over slung setup which can make loading and unloading your trailer easier. So there's not going to be no additional drop or lift built into the axle. So the spindles are set up to work with compatible 12 inch by two inch brake assemblies. And I want to give you a closeup of this spindle here.

Now if you notice this already has grease on it. So when you receive it, it'll typically be covered in grease. It might even have like a clear plastic shower cap over it just to protect the grease there. But you don't want to use this grease. So when you get this and you're ready to install it, it is important that you clean all this grease off, wipe it all down.

And then when you're installing this, make sure that you use fresh, clean grease. You definitely don't want to use this grease. It's simply to protect the components here, the spindle during shipping. But one of the more useful features is Lippert Super Lube spindle design. There's a grease zerk at the end of each spindle that's going to allow fresh grease to be fed through the spindle for routine bearing lubrication. And then when this is used with the appropriate dust cap and removable rubber plug, you're going to be able to access that grease zerk fitting without having to remove the hub just for routine lubrication. This axle has a standard grade finish, so it is intended more for typical trailer use rather than applications that are frequently exposed to corrosive elements like water, road salt, snow.
