Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Deka Wire

Today we're going to be reviewing part number DW04914-1. This is the Deka Wire Jacketed 7-Cabled Wire. This product is going to be sold by the foot, so however many feet you need just enter that number into the quantity box. This is going to work great for many applications whether you are rewiring a trailer, adding a junction box, or making your own plug. This is manufactured to SAE and ATA specifications. It meets SAE J1128 specifications for use with 50 volts or less. It's going to be the multi-conductor stranded copper wire design. It's going to maintain its flexibility no matter what weather condition you're in.

It's going to stand up well against the elements and give you the flexibility that you need. I did splice off the end here. That way we can see the exposed wires. You can see that they're going to be color coded. You're going to have 7 wires. The entire cable is going to be enclosed in a black vinyl jacket.

That's going to reduce road hazards. It's going to keep the wires protected from any type of damage. Each conductor itself is going to be insulated with a heavy vinyl covering. Six out of the 7 wires are going to be gauge 12; the white wire is going to be gauge 10. This product's made in the USA. That's going to do it for our review of part number DW04914-1.

  • Installing Vehicle Side Trailer Connector to Trailer Deep Cycle Battery to Power 12V Interior Lights
The Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector with Universal Pigtail Harness - Vehicle End # HM47210 can be connected directly to your trailer battery. You will run the Red wire to the positive terminal on your battery, but the white ground wire will connect to your trailer frame, just like the negative terminal of your battery does. You just want to make sure that connection to your frame is free of rust or corrosion for a bare metal to metal connection. That will give...

  • Troubleshooting Running Light Circuit Always Active for 2022 Chevy Tahoe
Hey Benny, that is odd but if I had to venture a guess I would say that it's your 12 volt accessory circuit shorting out to the running light circuit. I would check out the backside of the 7-way and look for any cut or exposed wire and fix as needed.

  • Will 12V Wire at Vehicle End Trailer Connector Be Hot Even When Truck and All Lights Are Off
The 12V wire at the vehicle-end trailer connector being hot even when the truck is off can vary depending on the application. For all aftermarket hardwiring installations of a 7-Way wiring harness, the 12V wire will be hot at all times, even when the truck is off and no lights are on in the trailer. This is because the 12V power wire is ran from the vehicle battery, then typically to a circuit breaker, then to the trailer connector. In OEM applications, it will vary depending on the make...

Hi Andrew, You can get just jacketed 7-wire by the foot with part the Deka Wire # DW04914-1 and then pick up a connector like the # PK12706 you were looking at. As you can see in the image all the functions are in the same location and the only difference is the colors of the wiring being used. • Troubleshooting Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter Not Working With Kioti DK5010 Tractor
Hi Forrest; because of the way an agricultural 7-way is wired the # PK12-724 is not a good solution. The best thing you can do is run a 7-way blade and connect straight to the trailer. Right now you don't have a brake output pin and it sounds like 12V power is carrying over so the brakes are constantly activated. Also, your tractor will have separate brake light and turn signals which won't work with the Big Tex trailer. To accomplish this you can use the # 337TC1474P along with the #...
