How to Give 7-Way of Coachmen Mirada a 12 Volt Charge Circuit on the 7-Way

Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 01/29/2026

Question:

I have a 2020 coachman Mirada. There is no 12 volt power to the 7 way plug in the rear, ignition on or off. Power to all other lights when ignition is on. This coach does not charge chassis battery when plugged into shore power, only when it’s running . I tow a jeep wrangler and has a charge line installed.would it be advisable to hookup a 12 volt line so the power goes on to the jeep while the coach ignition is on so the coach battery is not affected while it’s on shore power. Where would I connect it to the coach with this set up?

Hey Michael, not every vehicle 7-way has the 12 volt accessory circuit active so it sounds like your Mirada is one that does not. The simple solution is to run 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 from that pin on the 7-way up to the vehicle battery through a breaker like # 9510.

This circuit being active would allow you to put a maintenance charge on the battery of a towed vehicle. The circuit will be on all the time which isn't a problem normally but let me know if you'd prefer it to only be on when key is on.

Hey Michael, how did things go after you ran the 10-gauge wire and breaker to power the 7-way on your Mirada? Your results could really help others trying to keep their towed vehicle batteries charged the same way.
