Features to know about

Built for Dependable Towing: Load Range C with 800-lb Capacity at 70 psi

When you’re hauling gear or equipment, you need a tire that can handle the weight without breaking a sweat. The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, part #AM1HP22, carries up to 800 lbs at 70 psi with a Load Range C rating. It’s been tested to exceed DOT standards, giving you reliable performance under load at speeds up to 65 mph.

Smooth and Steady on Uneven Ground: Bias-Ply Construction for Stability

This tire’s bias-ply design uses thick nylon cords laid at a 30°–45° angle in alternating layers. That crisscross pattern gives the sidewalls extra stiffness so the whole tire flexes evenly over rough or uneven ground. The result is superior stability and a smoother ride whether you’re backing into a tight spot or towing across a bumpy lot.

Ready for Modern Replacements: Correct Fit for 8" x 5-3/8" Wheels

If you’re updating an older setup, the K399 fits rims that are 8" x 5-3/8" wide and matches modern metric sizing—165/65-8 replaces older sizes like 16.5 x 6.5-8. With a section width of 6.6" and an outer diameter of 16.5", it delivers the same footprint and clearance as the original sizes used on many classic builds.

Confidence That Lasts: Backed by a 1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

Every Loadstar K399 tire comes with a 1-year worry-free guarantee that covers replacement if it’s damaged within the first year. It also includes a 5-year limited warranty, so you can roll out knowing you’re covered for the long haul.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Good job. Helps to talk to someone sometimes
by:
This tire was used to replace a dry rotted tire on an arena drag. It's exactly the same tire and working well.
by:
Put these on a set of galvanized rims that I purchased at the same time from etrailer. Goal was to replace a deteriorated wheel/tire set on a a jon boat trailer and at the same time get a 4" ground clearance drop to facilitate shallow water launches. Set up worked extremely well.
by:
Always on time, great service. The only tires that hold up in my trailer.

So far they have been the best we can find. They work well.

by:
My local trailer dealer spent two weeks trying to find these Loadstar tires ( and his supplier dealt with Loadstar). I called and had the tires in just a few days. My trailer guy was so embarrassed he mounted the tires for free.
by:
The tires were shipped and arrived in just about a week. Well packaged and in great condition upon arrival. Have not yet mounted the tires. Only negative is I am a little disappointed in the age, manufactured in 42 week of 2013 while now it is 16 week of 2015 so a bit under two years old. Not a major problem since I plan on wearing them out in a couple of years. A competitor had a bit fresher tires but at a bit higher price. Prior use of these tires indicates all should be good as they are in general a very good tire for light trailers.
by:
Tires were as described and prices were great, had valve stems missing in order and they stepped up and sent them right away, thanks
by:
Received (hard to find) tire ahead of promised delivery date. I would have preferred a galvanized tire & wheel combo, but they only carry wheels with 5 lugs and my trailer has four. Long trip coming up and I wanted 2 spares.
by:
Perfect!! I was so confused as to what would fit my trailer. Anna in customer assistance was spectacular and helped me get exactly what I needed. They look fabulous. Thank you etrailer, especially Anna and Carol.
by:
Purchased two tires for a trailer I am building. They actually showed up so quick that I almost didn't know what the box on my porch could be. Have not used as of yet but I'm confident they will perform well as all the previous products bought from etrailer! Even though I'm not always need things super quick it's nice to know if I do they will be there.
by:
that it took two days. I will refer you to other bikers that have trailers. Los if if someone can send me a few business card that would be great. I ride a lot on my Motorcycle with trailer in tow. I a certainly going to spread the word. Thanks again
by:
RECIEVED THE TIRES ON FRIDAY AND THEY WERE WHAT I ORDERED . THEY WERE SECURELY PACKAGED AND ALL INFORMATION WAS CORRECT . PRICE WAS GOOD AND I WILL BE MOUNTING THEM THIS WEEK END . WILL USE YALL AGAIN FOR MY TIRE NEEDS. THANKS ALAN .
by:
Had tires installed on existing wheels without any problems.
by:
This review is more about etrailer than this specific tire. I ordered 4 tires on April 26. I received the shipment, but it was not correct. I wrote to them explaining the situation with a photo showing the problem along with actual words explaining the problem. On April 3rd I received a message reading in part, "I have opened a service ticket in regard to this situation. A new AM10010, K353 bias tire, will be shipped out to you ASAP. We will update you with tracking information via email once the part ships from our warehouse."

On April 4th, I received this message, "I just heard back from our reship department and I need to ask you to please send clear pictures of the labels on the tires that you received. So that they can determine that's the way that the tires were received."

I responded on April 4 that I had already sent a photo showing how the tires were reviewed.

If they do not know how they shipped the tires, that it NOT my problem.

It is now June 6. I still do have the proper tires or a return label for the wrong tire. I guess they have enough customers they to not need my business, Remove me from your mailing list.

  • Correct Replacement Size for 16.5 x 6.5-8 Tires
The correct size that will replace your 16.5 x 6.5-8 tires is 165/65-8; we do carry these tires in stock, the Kenda Loadstar # AM1HP22. These tires fit 8" x 5-3/8" rims, have a load range of C, speed rating of 65 mph and maximum capacity of 800 lbs at 70 psi. Although both tire sizes you mention are pretty close in diameter, they would mount on different sized wheels. The 4.8-8 tire, like part # AM10004 works best on a 8 x 3-3/4 inch wide wheel, while the 165/65-8, like part # AM1HP22 (which is the equivalent size to the 16.5 x 6.5-8 you mentioned) works best on a 5-3/8 inch wide wheel. If you want to use your existing wheels, I would go with whichever tire size matches the wheel. Typically, a wider tire will offer more stability, but with...
