Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

by:

I received the tires 4 or 5 days after ordering. They were purchased in the event that I have a need to replace my existing golf cart tires. I may not need them for years into the future

Comments
I replaced 1 tire immediately and it has functioned well for the past year. I have stored the 2nd tire as a spare if and when needed
ROGER B - 02/22/2022

by:

Great tire and best price anywhere. Also very fast shipping. E trailer will be my go to for all my tire needs going forward.

by:

Exact tire we ordered was not coming in for over 6 months, so they suggested this to us. Our mechanic was very satisfied with these tires as a replacement and grateful the company offered another option since the tires were needed by mid-May, not October when the other tires would have been in stock.

by:

Delivery was perfect and the tires was what we ordered
Thank you.

by:

Great communication and quicker shipping than expected.

by:

Purchased 4 new tires for my golf cart, also known as the dog cart taxi for my 2 lazy hounds! Tires were best price I could find, free shipping which is a rarity these days, and UPS delivery literally within days of purchase, even though a weekend online purchase. When I need new trailer and golf cart tires I’ll be a return customer. Thank You!

Excellent Product and even better customer service. Had purchased these tires before and they worked so well we installed on all of our work horse carts. You will not be disappointed!

Comments
Been a year and the tires are all holding up well. We use our carts 5 days a week and tread is still great and no issues - I wouldnt hesitate to buy again!
Steve T - 07/04/2018

by:

I installed the tires on my 2013 Yamaha G29 Drive golf cart on 10" Evader aluminum wheels. They look great and based on my trip to the golf course today they work great. I thought there might be some clearance issues but they fit very well. I like the larger tire size (20.5" OD) as they replaced 205/50-10 which has an OD of 18". This was my first experience with etrailer and the experience was 100% positive. Good prices and great delivery service--what else could you want.

Comments
The tires have been in use for almost a year and the tread wear is negligible. I would give these tires and etrailer a 5-Star rating. Great service and great tires.
Big D - 12/17/2015

by:

Product was packaged well and is as advertised. Shipping was delayed some at first due to staffing issue. Once it was resolved the tires arrived very quickly.

by:

Terrific Golf Cart Tire

by:

Fast delivery and best price

by:

Great customer service from order origination to on-time receipt of order.

by:

As always, great selection quick to receive and the prices are fair. etrailer is my first choice for anything I'm looking for when in need of trailer stuff.

by:

Used to replace Firestone tires which are no longer available on Kubota B7500 front axle. Work well.

by:

These are the same brand I have on my 2009 Yamaha golf cart.
I saved $30 a tire compared to the local quoted price. I will be ordering two more.

Just fine, tread is good. The golf cart is our primary means of transportation, shopping to bowling to going to a movie. We only use our car to go where we can not by golf cart.

  • Can Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP50 Be Used on Golf Cart
The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP50 that you referenced will work great as a replacement 205/65-10 tire on your golf cart. This tire is technically designed for use on a trailer, but this just means that it's sidewalls have a thicker construction to better support heavier weights. The Kenda brand is actually very popular for golf cart applications and it's going to work perfectly on yours. I have attached a customer-submitted review below for this particular tire that you might...

  • Load Range B Trailer Tire Size 20.5 x 8 - 10
Are you sure that's the size you have? I can't find any info on that size since it has 20 at the end of it. If your tire is on a 10 inch wheel most likely what you need is the 20.5 x 8 - 10 like part # AM1HP50 which is a Load Range B. Send me a picture of your tire size on your sidewall if you have something different.

  • Trailer Tires Wear Out on the Center Tread on a Rally Wagon Trailer Towed Behind a Motorcycle
First of all, the trailer tires that we carry are rated for a maximum of 65 miles per hour unless otherwise noted on the tire sidewall. Going faster than this will cause rapid heat build up in a trailer tire (which has a thicker sidewall) and can lead to failure. When tires wear out in the middle that means that they are over inflated. You can try taking out about 5 psi or so until you get even tread wear. If a tire is inflated to the max psi, it should not wear unevenly. You may want...

  • What is the Speed Rating for Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire - 205/65-10
The trailer tires that we carry are rated for 65 miles per hour. Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi as indicated on the tire. Trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall. A thicker sidewall can generate more heat but an under inflated thicker sidewall will generate excessive heat and cause a tire to fail. Trailer tire # AM1HP50 should be inflated to 35 psi. Having a trailer low to the ground makes the center of gravity lower and could be beneficial and lessening...

  • What Width Rim Will the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP50 Fit
The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP50 that you referenced is a trailer tire designed to fit 10 inch diameter wheels that are 6 inches wide. You should note that rim width is measured from the outside of the rim. It is measured from bead seat to bead seat. A 6 inch wide rim would measure right at 7 inches in width if measured from the outsides. See picture I attached for more info.

  • Is There a Replacement Tire Size Available for 20.5 x 8.0-10 Tire on Pontoon Boat Trailer
Yes, I can help you matchup replacement tires for your pontoon boat trailer. Your tire size, 20.5 x 8-10, is a numeric tire size which would would convert to a 205/65-10 in metric sizing which will fit a 10 inch by 6 inch trailer wheel. The tires have different load range ratings, starting with Load Range B and increasing as you go down the alphabet. The highest rated tire for this size we have available is the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, part # AM1HP56. This tire has a load range...

  • Recommended Tires for a Yamaha G16 Golf Cart
The largest tire we have that will fit a 10" diameter wheel is a 205/65-10 like the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1HP50 which is 20.5" diameter. The 205/50-10 tire that you have now is 18.1" diameter therefore the new tire size will be 1.2" taller. If you would like something ever taller than that then you would need to switch to a larger wheel with a 225/55-12 tire like the Kenda Bias Golf Cart Tire part # AM1HP60 which will be 1.8" taller.

  • Can Trailer Tires Be Under-Inflated to Reduce Trailer Bounce
Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum air pressure. If the max psi listed on your trailer's side wall is 70 psi, then you will want to be sure to inflate the tires to 70 psi. I cannot recommend that you under-inflate your tires to 35 psi. If the tire is not inflated to the max psi, the amount of weight the tire can safely carry will be reduced. Tires are designed to carry a particular amount of weight at a particular psi rating. If the tires are under-inflated and too...

The capacity of the tires you have on your trailer that are 205/65-10 with a Load Range rating of B like part # AM1HP50 will have a capacity of 910-lbs at 35 psi or 1820-lbs per axle. To upgrade to a 6-ply Load Range C rated tire like part # AM1HP52 would make the capacity 1,100-lbs at 50 psi or 2,200-lbs per axle. I recommend going with the # AM1HP52 tire for the added weight capacity. At the maximum air pressure, the tires will perform and wear best, and get the best gas mileage. If...

  • Are 20.5 x 8-10 and 205/65-10 Trailer Tires the Same Size
Although I can't speak to why someone printed that on a tire, but the two sizes are almost exactly the same, so maybe it was an approximation by the tire manufacturers. Essentially you can swap the two out with no issue because a 20.5 x 8 -10 is 20-1/2 inches in diameter and 8 inches wide, while a 205/65-10 tire is 20-1/2 inches in diameter and 8.3 inches wide, so the difference is extremely slight.
