Recommended Replacement Tires for 1976 Coleman Patriot Pop-Up Camper

Updated 07/29/2018 | Published 07/27/2018

Question:

Need tires for my ‘76 Coleman patriot pop up. I bought tires from a tire store they gave me the wrong size. I installed them ready to go camping and half way down the block they popped. I went online to look for the tire size and Coleman gave me 16x6.5x8 B load rating. Can someone please tell me where I can purchase these tires.

The Kenda Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire - 165/65-8 - Load Range C # AM1HP22 is the closest size to the dimensions given by Coleman. These tires will have an outer diameter to 16.5 inches a width of 6.6 inches, and will fit 8 x 5-3/8 inch wheels. They are rated for 800 lbs at 70 psi which they should be inflated to when cold (prior to trip) and have a max speed of 65 mph.

The load rating C simply means it is a stronger tire with a ply rating of 8 versus 6. It will have a stronger sidewall to help prevent premature failure. These tires will work very well for your application.

If you want these tires mounted and balanced, you can use # AM3H200 for a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern or # AM3H220 for a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
