Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Heavy tire, strong body. Others I looked at were soft and weak.

Great product. Completely improve the handling of my trailer. Great customer service and also the delivery was right on point.

Tires hold up well on golf course and are comparatively priced.

Thanks Adam for the help with the order thanks for the fast shipping,my trailer is back on the road thanks again.

I bought this as a spare tire to go with 2 tires & rims that I ordered at the same time. Had the tire mounted on an existing rim, and will rotate all 3 tires on a regular basis.

Tires came in just a few days using free shipping option. Very satisfied with the product, cost and service. Highly recommend e-trailer.

Tires are still perfect. I dont put a lot of miles on them so I cant comment on wear but very happy with my purchase and experience with etrailer. Will definitely use them again.
Richards S - 08/12/2020

Tires are great! Replacement tires for pontoon boat on galvanized rims. Only had to put in a little air a couple times in last year. Very satisfied.

I have ordered from you before and found good products and great help. I received the product in a timely order and have been happy with it. So i decided to order from you again and had to have a little help in cross-referencing the size. The salesperson was real helpful and knowledgeable. I will order from you again. Thanks

Very good looking tires. only reason for giving 4 stars is because nothing is perfect

Great quality tire, Nice tread and they appear to be wearing very well. I would defiantly recommend these tires
James - 12/07/2018

The Loadstar is good tire for use on my boat trailer. They wear extremely well and have a good tread design. I got 11 years of light use on my last set and am only changing them out due to some slight sidewall cracking. A solid product!

Since day one, I have had no problems with these tires. In fact, I need to order another one to replace my spare tire. Thanks Etrailer...

Recently had a blowout on our pontoon trailer and needed a replacement. These tires exceed the original weight rating and look great at a good price. So we bought two and plan to get two more to match. The customer service at etrailer is by far the best I've had with super quick shipping and great customer followup.

Very fast shipping just what I needed for my enclosed 2 place snowmobile trailer

used one season so far and no sign of wear very nice tires
Joel - 01/01/2020

They are tires. The right size and load range. Replacements for a pair that are worn badly.

Most impressive was the virtually instant fulfillment and fast shipping.

Thanks, George J.

I had excellent service with the tires I purchased from etrailer and the loan co that helped me get these tires now so I would not have to wait till I save the money thank you

These tires I bought for my pontoon boat trailer are great tires, they were shipped fast and free, and are much better than the cheap knockoffs that are on the market.

Sorry no pics, but I was impressed with your service, I have already passed along your name to a local tire business in Nova Scotia that could not help me out. I will continue to say only good things about your quick and excellent service. Thanks for the tires!

Ordered two trailer tires. Most impressive was the shipping (free) and they arrived in two days. Have not mounted the tires but that's the easy part!

Needing new lawn tractor tires for a very old, but very good tractor I found that my numbers were not listed on tires anywhere. Robert took the time to cross over the numbers and the tires arrived 3 days later. Better quality than tires available near me, and at a great price. Hard to beat their products and service.

Customer service was very helpful and efficient with our recent purchase. They made sure we were getting the right tires for our needs...

Super tires for my snowmobile trailer, with a great load range at a fair price!

Tires are perfect love the tread pattern there perfect for my snowmobile trailer and will be safer than hwy tread that was on trailer

These four Loadstar tires lasted 8 years without a single sidewall crack or failure of any kind while towing my pontoon boat, so I, of course, replaced them with the exact same type. Hope they haven't changed the compound.

Fantastic service from so much. Tires arrived super fast and look great. Can't really review their overall performance so soon but they look great and are a HUGE improvement over my old ones.

  • Can One ST215/75-14 Tire be Used with Five ST205/75-14 Tires on a Boat Trailer
You do want all of the trailer tires to be the same size and construction type (bias ply or radial). Using different sizes can cause tracking problems and lead to premature and/or uneven tire wear. Ideally you would replace all of the tires at the same time. I have included a link though to the 205/75-14 tires that we carry. I should mention that in addition to the difference in width, the 215 is also almost 1/2 inch taller than the 205. I have included a couple of links on tires for you...

  • Does Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1HP54 Require a Tube
The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1HP54, does not require an inner tube so you cannot use one with it. All of the trailer tires we carry are tubeless. A tubeless tire has a liner in it so it does not need a tube. If you were to try to use a tube you would be adding an additional liner and you would get heat build up twice as fast. If you have tires that require a tube then you just go by the size of the tire, the tube will have the same size designation as the tire. We do not offer...

  • Replacement Tire Recommendation for a Pop Up Camper with 20.5/8-10 Size Tires
The best recommendation I can make for you would be to get a load range E tire like the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP56. This will fit your rim and will have the highest load rating we offer in that size. We do not have have taller tire that would fit your rim, but the # AM1HP56 should work very well for you. I attached a couple FAQ articles you might find informative also.

  • Will Tire Size 205/65/10 fit a Wheel that Currently has a 205/80/10 Tire
The tire should fit, but everything would sit a bit lower since the current tire is an 80 profile and the Loadstar you were looking at is a 65 profile. Your current tire, when new and properly inflated, would have an overall diameter of almost 23 inches. The Loadstar tire would have an overall diameter of about 20-1/2 inches. Everything would drop about 1-1/4 inches.

I would first start by checking the load range of your existing trailer tires to make sure that you get a match for the set; if you currently have Load Range D tires (which I would suspect with a snowmobile trailer) you'll want to replace it with the same. If you've got a Load Range C tire, you'll want a Load Range C spare. If you only need the tire, and not a tire/wheel combo, I recommend using the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP54. Although I can't speak to why someone printed that on a tire, but the two sizes are almost exactly the same, so maybe it was an approximation by the tire manufacturers. Essentially you can swap the two out with no issue because a 20.5 x 8 -10 is 20-1/2 inches in diameter and 8 inches wide, while a 205/65-10 tire is 20-1/2 inches in diameter and 8.3 inches wide, so the difference is extremely slight.
