Features to know about

Stable, Even Ride Over Every Mile: Equalizers Balance Axle Movement

Rough pavement and uneven loads can make a trailer buck or sway. The Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers keeps things steady with equalizers that measure 5-3/4" from bolt center to bolt center and 2" tall. They let both axles move together, transferring load and impact smoothly so your trailer tracks level and the ride stays consistent mile after mile.

Solid Mounting Hardware That Holds Tight: Grade 5 Bolts and Locknuts

Suspension parts take a pounding, so weak hardware isn’t an option. This kit includes fourteen 3" longx9/16" diameter Grade 5 bolts with tapered locknuts that resist working loose from vibration. The secure fit keeps the connection between springs, hangers, and equalizers tight without binding, so the suspension can move freely under load.

Right Geometry for Smooth Suspension Travel: Designed for 33" Axle Spacing

Getting the alignment right makes all the difference in ride quality and tire wear. This setup is built for tandem-axle trailers with 33" axle spacing and 1-3/4" wide double-eye leaf springs. The 2-1/4" shackle straps match the geometry of the equalizer to keep the suspension cycling smoothly through its travel.

Complete Kit for Reliable Rebuilds: Everything Needed to Replace Worn Parts

When factory components wear out, this kit brings your suspension back to spec. It includes two equalizers, eight shackle straps, fourteen bolts, and locknuts. Hangers and springs are sold separately so you can match them to your trailer’s frame and axle rating. The result is a balanced, dependable suspension that rides right and stays quiet on the road.

Exactly what I needed to repair my older trailer and make it safe again. Fit exactly the way they should. Fast shipping.

by:

The parts I ordered were exact replacem ents.

by:

Fit up perfectly. Easy to swap out. My axles balanced perfectly after the swap

by:

This is exactly what you need to freshen up your trailer’s suspension. I’ve put roughly 10k miles on mine since I purchased a year ago. You would be surprised how shot your original hardware can be. Should be able to get another 10k before I need to replace again.

by:

It fit perfect

by:

I RECIEVED EXACTLY WHAT I ORDERED IN A TIMELY MANNER

by:

Not impressed! Shipped and arrived in a reasonable time, everything appears to still be in the box, but there’s no excuse for this. I think some stronger boxes are needed for heavier items, and UPS could show a little more respect for people’s thing, instead of throwing around almost $500.00 worth of items like it’s junk.. as far as the items, everything looks decent, will install when temperatures are out of the sub zeros.

by:

Converted my 30 ft home built trailer to carry my 25 ft sailboat with 3 1/2 ft keel. I needed new springs to carry her weight Your parts arrived on time. So far all is going well on the upgrade. Thanks for the positive information and can do attitude of your company.

by:

Haven’t used these yet, but nice to know I have them when needed.

by:

After all of the bad weather I was able to finish installing my new suspension system on my 1992 Lance Fifth Wheel. The task was much easier than I had anticipated. The instructional video you provide access to were a big help. Other than having to grind off a nut or two I had no difficulties (See attached photos). The 'list' that had developed on the fifth wheel is now resolved, and towing has already proven to be better.

by:

Great kit, the fit was perfect. The staff at trailer was incredible in making sure I had the right parts. Its definitely important to buy new fasteners when replacing springs (I had an OEM spring in a travel trailer snap underway). The shackles show surface rust after 3 weeks of camping in wet weather (I live in the desert) which was surprising.

by:

Works great fits great. Product seems to be good. It’s on a flat trailer that I don’t use a lot. But the products seem really good.

by:

Fast and easy and right what i need to get my trailer fixed

by:

Had no issues installing the parts. Great fit on all parts. However, I suggest to purchase the “up grade” wet bolts and brass bushings and avoid the factory nylon bushings that come with the leaf spring kit.

by:

Full disclosure: we boat in brackish water in Florida, but I always hose the trailer down afterward.
Springs work as they should and installation was straightforward. However, I’m not sure how long they’ll last. After only 5 or 6 launches/ retrievals last year, this is what they look like now. The springs and equalizer must’ve been spray-painted at the factory, not powder-coated. I believe made in China. I even soaked the bolts and links in motor oil before installing to stave-off corrosion. I just hope we don’t have a failure on the road any time soon because of this accelerated corrosion!

by:

I bought this to prepare my trailer for a 3000 mile trip. Everything went together perfectly and worked flawlessly for the entire trip.

by:

Fast shipping and item description was right on the money. 3rd time ordering from etrailer with zero issues

by:

I had excellent help in ordering the correct components. It was a tricky order. Now the suspension on the boat trailer is complete and it's like new again!

by:

This kit was exactly what I needed for my old worn out trailer. Arrived on time with all the pieces.

by:

Perfect exactly what I needed and received it quickly. Quality parts.

by:

Great service and parts

by:

The bushings in my leaf spring equalizers were shot.
I was able to use your rebuild kit, and it made a major improvement.

by:

This product is all oem quality just like the Dexter axle and spring manufacture bolts and everything else looks the same and lines up in the holes and fist well.

by:

Fits just as OEM. A lot of reviewers complain of the bolts being shaped improperly however that’s not the case. The supply you with the correct crushed nuts. These nuts have one normal side and one side that has been squeezed by a press. They act as a lock nut without the poly inside. My only complaint would be that they supply the 10 bolts and nuts for the shackles but only give you two remaining bolts for the spring ends instead of the four it takes to replace those as well.

by:

Good product. I Have a tendency to overthink, overbuild and over engineer everything about my camper so I did pull the plastic bushings and installed a nice set of bronze bushings. You will need a press or at least a vice to do this. Its also a good time to service the brakes and re grease the bearings.

When it comes to replacing equalizers on your 2022 Forest River Wolfpack, I recommend The Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers - 1-3/4 inch Wide Double Eye Springs - 2-1/4 inch Links # AP233. This will replace your existing 5-3/4 inch center hole to center hole equalizer. The kit works with 1-3/4 inch wide double-eye springs. The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hangers # H248 are sold separately. • Parts Needed to Replace Equalizer and Shackles and How to Determine Which Parts to Use
Generally you'll want to replace your equalizer and shackles with ones that have the same or similar dimensions. The equalizer in the # AP233 kit has a 2" tall and 5-3/4" long (eye bolt center to eye bolt center) and the shackles included are 2-1/4" long. You might be able to make up the distance by just using some longer shackle straps like the Replacement Shackle Strap - 2-5/8" Long # 115052, which will give you an extra 3/8" of an inch. In addition to the axle spacing, the best way to choose the appropriate equalizer replacement is by measuring how wide your current equalizer is when measured between the two side bolt holes, center on center; as long as you keep everything relatively close in length compared to the old parts, the geometry of your suspension system won't be thrown off. Hi Chip; you might be able to get by with that, but I don't think it is worth risking issues with your suspension. As far as equalizers go it is quite a bit longer than your old one. Standard equalizers are pretty inexpensive, and a problem would potentially be very expensive, so I would get an equalizer that matches. I see your old equalizer is marked 13-10 but it doesn't line up with the standard 13-10 design. If you can measure your old equalizer and add those dimensions to the comments...

  • How Tight Should Trailer Suspension Hanger/Equalizer Bolts Get Torqued
Suspension bolts are not designed to be torqued down tightly as this prevents the suspension from being able to move like it needs to be able to do. So the included solution with the kit part # AP233 is the lock nuts of the kit. The nuts have nylock in them which means that they will not back off regardless of how "loose" they are installed on the bolts. Basically you tighten the nuts down so that the excess side to side movement is removed from them but the shackles can still freely move...
