  • Which Replacement Equalizer and Shackles for 2004 Carson Dump Trailer with Axles 34" Apart
In addition to the axle spacing, the best way to choose the appropriate equalizer replacement is by measuring how wide your current equalizer is when measured between the two side bolt holes, center on center; as long as you keep everything relatively close in length compared to the old parts, the geometry of your suspension system won't be thrown off. As long as your existing equalizer is 5-3/4" wide and your shackle straps are 2-1/4" long from bolt eye center to bolt eye center then...

  • Equalizer Kit for Tandem Axle Trailer that is 4 inch Tall and 6 inch Wide
Hey Thomas, so we have the exact equalizer kit you are looking for with the part # K71-448-00. This comes with equalizers that match exactly with what you have now as well as heavy duty shackles that are also the same length and matching wet bolts and bushings.

  • Replacement Leaf Spring for 2015/2016 Riverside Retro 195
Hi David; you will have to measure your other leaf spring to find the right replacement. I recommend measuring the flat length to get the most accurate measurement, see the article linked further down on this page. For example, if you found that the overall flat length was 26-3/8", or the eye to eye measurement was 25-1/4", you could use the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # e54SR. If you have a different measurement let me know in the comments below and I'll see what...

The determine the correct replacement leaf spring on your 2021 Coachmen 259FKDS you'll need to lift your trailer frame so the spring is hanging freely and then measure from center-eye to center-eye, then for the equalizer you need to measure center-eye to center-eye for the horizontal bolts and then from the center of the top eye to the centerline of the horizontal eyes. • Parts Needed to Replace Equalizer and Shackles and How to Determine Which Parts to Use
Generally you'll want to replace your equalizer and shackles with ones that have the same or similar dimensions. The equalizer in the # AP233 kit has a 2" tall and 5-3/4" long (eye bolt center to eye bolt center) and the shackles included are 2-1/4" long. You might be able to make up the distance by just using some longer shackle straps like the Replacement Shackle Strap - 2-5/8" Long # 115052, which will give you an extra 3/8" of an inch. If you can provide the length of the shackle straps...

  • Typical Hanger Spacings for Tandem Axle Trailer with 3,500 lb Axles
A lot of it depends on the length of the springs and equalizers that are used. When using Leaf Springs # e64SR with the # AP233 Equalizer Kit and the # H248 Hanger Kit, there should be 29-1/2" between the front and center hangers and 29-1/2" between the center and rear hangers. This should achieve a 4-1/2" clearance between the center of the axle and the trailer frame if you have a 3500 lb axle. I've Provided a diagram that should be helpful. • What Equalizer, Shackle Straps, and Bolts do I Need for My Tandem Axle Trailer with EQ-356?
Hello Robert, The kit you asked about will work. There are just a couple of things to consider: You currently have the Curved Equalizer for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs - 6-1/8" Long - 9/16" Center Hole # TREQ356, which measures 6 1/8" from center hole to center hole on the bottom. • Parts Needed to Convert a Torsion Axle Trailer to a Tandem Spring Axle
Hey George, what do you mean by narrow equalizer? What size equalizer do you have right now? To convert your trailer's torsion axles to spring axles, you'd need to have new hangers welded on, leaf springs, and a new axle. For new hangers, you can use # APT8 which'll work best with axles that are rated between 2,000 and 7,000 lbs. For springs, you can use the # TRU42FR you were looking at with the U-bolt kit # APUBR-10. Finally, for an axle, you're going to need to measure or know the...

  • How To Determine What Size Leaf Springs, Equalizers And Shackles I Need
Hello Jbryan, thanks for getting in touch. I wish I could tell you that based on the hanger spacing, but that just isn't enough info for me to give you precise numbers. If you are needing to replace your springs, equalizers and shackles, you will need to measure what you have currently. Leaf springs should be measured when unloaded, and are measured from eye to eye straight across. For the equalizer you will want to measure the length and height from center hole to center hole. Considering all that has been done so far, I think the first step I would take here is to go with the shorter shackle straps. If you're still getting contact with the trailer frame, I would then take a look at upgrading to a taller equalizer like the Dexter EZ-Flex # 013-144-03 or you could have the front and rear hangers cut off and welded back on 1/2" further from each other in each direction.
