When you need dependable light behind you, this 6-1/2" x 2-1/4" incandescent backup light does the job. It uses a single 1156 bulb behind a clear lens for crisp illumination, ideal for reversing or working in low light. Operating on 12V DC with a 2.1-amp draw, it puts out steady brightness without flicker. It’s built as a DOT-compliant unit that performs in either horizontal or vertical mount positions, giving flexibility in how it’s used.
Whether you’re driving through rain or backing into the water, this light stays sealed tight. The housing and lens are made from durable polycarbonate and completely waterproofed to keep moisture out, making it submersible. The sealed circuit board protects the bulb connections from corrosion, so you don’t have to worry about shorting out or fogged lenses after a dunk.
Installing this light is straightforward thanks to the included grommet and plug. It recess-mounts neatly into the trailer body so nothing sticks out to catch on gear or brush. The 2-wire plug setup—one power lead and one ground—makes connection quick and tidy. You can reuse an existing cutout or drill a new one for a flush, low-profile fit that looks clean once installed.
This isn’t a light that cracks under pressure. The polycarbonate housing and lens resist impact and UV fading, keeping the clear lens bright over time. It’s designed to hold up against road debris and vibration while staying securely seated in its grommet. With this kind of durability, you get consistent lighting that’s ready whenever you are.
If you’re replacing an older light, this one drops right in as an exact replacement for Truck-Lite # 60004C and 60084C, Grote # 62251, or Optronics # BU74CB. That means no extra drilling or modification—just plug it in and go with confidence that it’ll fit where your old one came out.

Today we're going to take a look at the Peterson Six and a Half Inch Oval, Clear Back-Up Light with the Two-Pronged Plug and the Rubber Grommet. Now, this oval back-up light will feature a clear Lexan Lens and a VIBAR socket. Now, the VIBAR socket feature is a vibration dampening feature that absorbs shock to help the bulb last longer. This is a sealed oval back-up light that meets the DoT, Department of Transportation requirements in either horizontal or vertical position. The polycarbonate lens is sonic welded to the housing to form a single unit. It does include this nice rubber mounting grommet and the two-pronged right angle plug to complete your installation. Basically, when you go to install this, it's a flush mount installation so you just install your light into the rubber grommet, just like that.
Take your right angle, two-prong plug, like it up with your connection and then just push it in. You can see our wires will come out at a right angle in the very back here. The two wire right angle plug has a 10 and a half inch long, pig tail wire lead that has two wires. The white wire has a ring terminal on it for ground. The red wire is a 12-volt power wire for your reverse circuit. We are going to hook this up later just to show you how bright the light is. Now, the rubber mounting grommet allows the light to be flush mounted so we're going to go ahead and we're going to give you some dimensions. What we're going to do is, let me take it out of the grommet just to give you the dimensions.
So they overall length on this light edge to edge is going to be right at six and a half inches long. Width on it is going to be right at two and a quarter inches wide and your total depth from the front to the very back is going to be right at two and 3/8ths inches deep.So again, I'm going to reinstall it back into the grommet like it was installed on the trailer, and then we're going to do ahead and hook these wires up and, again, we'll take the ground wire. We'll go ahead and hook that wire up and then we'll take our red wire to connect to our 12-volt power. With those both connected, I'll go ahead and turn on the 12-volt power and you can see the clear light, back-up light will light up. We'll go ahead and turn off our overhead lights and you can see it gives you a very bright back-up light. We'll go ahead and turn back on our overhead lights, disconnect our lights. But that should do it for the review on the Peterson Six and Half Inch, Oval, Clear Back-Up Light with the Two-Pronged Plug and the Rubber Grommet..

I use these lights in my horse trailer's horse compartment. The price was half what they were on the manufacture's website for replacement. They were shipped the same day I was notified of the shipment and followed up by an easy way to track the shipment.
Etrailer has great product, great instructional videos and they’re great to work with
These exact Peterson lights were installed on a B&W truck bed 21 years ago from factory. Little has changed over time. The gaskets now are a thinner rubber resulting in a sloppy fit in the hole. They should have left well enough alone.
just what i was looking for. got put in and it works great backing up boat trailer in the dark this is a great light.
Over the years I've made several purchases of hard to find parts. E- Trailer has always been able to pull me out of pickle. AMAZING!
The lights fit my 2000 sundowner horse trailer perfectly.
Light is perfect, the rubber seal is the issue. Had to get another brand of seal for it to get light into the hole and stay otherwise one side would go in and other side you could not push light in. It should have popped in place like my old one.

While these lights are designed to be submersible I have heard of water still being able to affect the bulbs over time. I recommend changing over to an LED light like part # BUL12CB. While it is more money, the LEDS are protected from water because they are sealed into the unit. Also the LEDs have a lifetime warranty verses the incandescent bulb lights which have a one year warranty.
