Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Peterson 2-Wire Pigtail for Trailer Lights

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here @etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the right angle plug for your wiring or for your lights. This is going to be an easy way to get your incandescent or LED lights wired up on your trailer. It's just gonna be this little two-prong plug. It's a pretty industry standard plug for just about any lights out there.

A lot of them are gonna use the same configuration. Some of these plugs will come out at a downward angle. This one's gonna be a right angle out to the side. So just kind of works better for more close quarters or tight clearances for your trailer. So you can see just this little guy, we'll have our two leads coming off of there.

It's gonna be our black wire for power and then white wire for ground. That just pushes into the back of a light, or the LED I have here today. I wanna make sure that that seats all the way down in to the light. So it doesn't come apart while you're out on the road. You can see it sits down in there really nice and flush. And then you just connect your wiring again.

Power to black wire and ground goes to the white wire. And I'll turn my power source on. Lights on. So, pretty straight forward. Just makes life a little bit easier.

These can be switched out pretty easily if something happens rather than having to take apart all the wiring of your trailer. So it kind of becomes a more modular system rather than having to run one single wire all the way down. Again, the leads off of this, they're going to be six inches long. So not super long, but enough that you should be able to get connected to the rest of your wires. Does come with a ring terminal already spliced onto the ground end. That's a number 10 ring terminal. So, number 10 screw should fit that just fine. It is made in the USA. And that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Peterson two wire pigtail. I hope this video's been helpful in deciding if this is gonna be the right piece for you. If not, as I mentioned, we do have other options available right here @etrailer.com. So check them out. Thanks for watching.

The lights and pigtails I ordered and received from you is exactly what I needed to replace the 20 year old lights on my 2005 Nitro boat trailer. I looked in several different brick and mortar supply stores here in my town and couldn't find what I needed. I am so glad that I found your website and you had just what I was looking for.

by:

Exactly what I needed for my RangerTrail boat trailer marker lights.

by:

When a customer buys a light with MALE plugs, your website should not allow the sale of pigtails with a MALE plug.
Better coordination is suggested.

  • Installing Round 2-1/2 Inch Peterson Light and Grommet
Without seeing what the issue is it's extremely difficult to say what the problem may be. But the way it should go is you first insert the PVC Grommet # 142-18, and then push in the Peterson Clearance or Side Marker Trailer Light # M143A. You can actually see this in action at about the 2:20 mark or so of the video I linked for you. It is possible you may need to enlarge the hole ever so slightly if the problem is it isn't quite large enough for the grommet and light.

  • What Are The Wire Functions Of The Optronics LED Trailer License Plate Light # LPL81C1B
Hey Lawrence, The black wire on the Optronics LED Trailer License Plate Light # LPL81C1B is going to be your 12v power and the white wire will be the ground. You can either cut the plug off and hardwire the light or use a connector like the # GP-1 or # 142-49 to connect your light to power/ground.

  • Ranger Boats LED Trailer Light Pigtails Adapter Availability
I have a couple of good options for you but there aren't any available adapters. Instead you will remove your current pigtails like the Optronics 2-Wire Marker Light Pigtails part # AL42PB. Once removed you add the the 2-Wire Pigtail for Optronics Backup and Utility Trailer Lights - 2-Prong PL-3 Plug part # A45CB for a straight wire or the Peterson 2-Wire Pigtail for Trailer Lights part # 142-49 for the right angled wire. To protect the splices I recommend using the Deka Heat Shrink...

  • Peterson 2-Wire Amber Clearance/Side Marker Lights With Chrome Mounting Bracket/Bexel.
You are looking for the Mounting Bracket # 150-10 and Peterson Clearance and Side Marker Trailer Light # M150A. With these 2 pieces you get the 2 wire version of the Peterson Light Kit # 2250A. If you need the 2-wire pigtails there is a 6" Pigtail # 142-49 or a 19" Pigtail # B142-50 to choose from.

  • Replacement Marker Light With 2 Prong Pigtail Connection On a Exiss Trailer
To confirm if the Peterson Clearance and Side Marker Trailer Light # M150A will fit on your Exiss trailer you will need to check the pigtail. The Peterson 2-Wire Pigtail # 142-49 is a common item that is also a direct replacement for several other light connectors. The center to center distance of the electrical prongs are 1/2" apart. If your pigtail has this same measurement you can use the Peterson Light # M150A.

  • Peterson PET45FJ LED Clearance Light and 2 Prong Pigtail Plug
Hi Joshua, thanks for your question! The Peterson PC Rated LED Clearance and Side Marker Light, part # PET45FJ, comes with the grommet and plug, so you have what you need to install the light. The plug that comes with it is the Peterson # 142-49 which is a 2 prong pigtail plug that plugs into the back of the light and then hardwires in your trailer. What kind of trailer are you using this on? It can also be used as a side marker light.

  • Hole Size to Install Grommet # B150-181
The hole size needed to install the grommet part # B150-181 that you referenced needs to be 2-7/8 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches tall. Lights that fit this grommet are like the red one # M150R or amber # M150A. And then for a harness part # 142-49.

  • Mounting Bracket and Wiring Harness for Peterson Clearance Light # M150R
The chrome base part # 150-10 is correct for the clearance light part # M150R and you will need a wiring harness for the light assembly as well like with part # 142-49 and you'd be set!
