A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side marker light.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Today we're gonna take a look at the Peterson Clearance Side Marker Light. This is going to be a two inch round amber light. This is going to function as both our clearance light and side marker light, since it is PC rated. That means that it's going to give us that combined clearance and side marker function, since it can be seen at 180 degrees.It's going to have a recessed mount with a black PVC grommet that is sold separately, you can find that here at etrailer.com using part number 146-18 and that will look like this. So whenever you put that in place, it's going to kind of finish the look of our light and also provide a little shock absorption on the back, or for our light itself. So that would be what it looks like with the grommet.
Again, that does have to be purchased separately.Another thing you can pick up is an industry standard two prong plug, you can also find those here at etrailer.com. We plug that in the back, you'll be able to see our light turn on and we have two different styles of this two prong plug. There's the 142-49 or the B142-50. And again, both of those can be found here at etrailer.com, so you can get all your lighting functions wired up. And if we turn it on, we'll have our side marker light come on, just so you can get an idea of how bring that's going to be.
It's going to give us a nice clear light, clearly visible from that 180 degree angle. It does come with the bulb, it's going to have a 15,000 hour long life. So it should be long lasting bulb, shouldn't have to replace it any time soon.As far as the dimensions with our light, go over those here, if we unplug our wiring here. It's going to be about two inches in diameter and it's gonna sit about seven eighths of an inch deep. This does have a one year limited warranty from Peterson and it is a made in USA product.
