Features to know about

Installs Without Cutting or Splicing: Plug-In T-Connector

Wiring a trailer usually means finding and tapping factory wires, but this harness avoids all that. The Curt T-Connector plugs directly into the vehicle’s existing wiring to create a 4-flat trailer connector. There’s no cutting, no splicing—just plug it in and it’s ready for use.

Clean Factory-Style Setup: Hidden Plug-and-Lead Design

The harness uses a hidden, plug-and-lead layout that keeps the connections tucked out of sight for a clean finish. It ties neatly into the vehicle end connector so nothing hangs loose or looks out of place once installed.

Protects Vehicle Electronics: Powered Converter for Reliable Lighting

A built-in powered converter isolates the trailer wiring from the vehicle’s electrical system. That helps protect sensitive components and ensures that running lights, turn signals, and brake lights on the trailer work correctly every time.

Ready for Basic Towing Needs: 4-Flat Connector Output

The included 4-flat connector covers the essentials—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—so you can tow small or midsize trailers safely. It’s the standard connection most light-duty trailers use and pairs easily with standard adapters when needed.

It was very easy to install.
My Captiva has the nuts in place already so I just dropped the muffler for access and it went right in and bolted down very easy.

This wasn't the first one of the "Curt custom T-connector" wiring harnesses that I have put in but it went in to my 2015 Chevy Captiva with No Problems and it has worked fine every since Although I don't see why it wouldn't because You make it so easy to work with! Thank YOU!

Im just an old bodyman 76Now but I have used the Curt Trailer Hitches and wiring set ups on several of Mine and Customer rigs. They Fit perfectly and bolt right up and the wiring is so easy to install without butchering the original wiring of the car or truck I am working on. They are a really nice set-up! I Wish those you have never tried other trailer hitches and Wiring set ups could Know what a difference it makes in Time, Stress, and Ease to use the Curt Trailer Hitches and wiring set ups. Thanks for letting me comment on your products! Warren, Just an old bodyman with 56 years of beating on cars in Montana.

This product was easy to install and has satisfactory results since installation. I've used this connector for my boat and utility trailers. It does lay flat when hanging out through the tailgate and have had no problems with any type of connection. I would recommend this product for any body having a 2014 Chevy Activa

My Nephew installed the light kit on my Captiva with no problems, and everything works great! I especially like that the wires do not hang loose all the time, but that they are inside the SUV when not in use and not exposed to the elements. Looks a lot neater when I'm not using the trailer. And the price was very reasonable, too. Thanks so much.

I ordered a trailer hitch and wiring harness. Both were good quality. the price was right. Also, delivered in a short time after placing order. I put the Hitch and wiring harness on my car as soon as it arrived, and I'm happy with product and would order from again.

I also purchased the wiring harness which made all the difference. Having someone else pre-wire everything like that and provide a simple T connection was a huge win.

However, I would not recomend running a constant hot wire under the chassis. Besides not having a lift for easy access, there are too many potentials for incident if something happens to that wire over time. Especially if all you do is zip tie it to something. I suggest, as I did, that you run it through the body trim panels on the driver side. The vehicle has a wiring harness channel already in place under the plastic trim panels that you can feed the wire through, and then up through the wiring harness grommet in the firewall to the battery. Additionally, on this vehicle, the positive battery terminal as a second threaded bolt that is designed as an auxiliary post. You do not need to loosen the existing bolt or clip the eye hook. Just obtain a small bolt and washer and attach the wire to the back post on the positive terminal.

Loved the fact that the wiring was already done for me and provided in a simple to connection. The instruction video was good, but I'd run the harness thru the body trim channel on the driver side and utilize the preexisting auxiliary terminal on the battery positive post as opposed to clipping the connector and piggy backing on the front post.

We originally ordered a part off of another site, however, it was not the correct item. I contacted Katie at Etrailer.com and she not only expedited shipment because of my strict timeline, she made certain that we were getting the correct item. Truthfully she saved our bacon. We received the product from Etrailer.com on Thursday and we left for Texas on Monday. Katie - Thank you for your outstanding customer service. (Katie - Please make sure your boss see's this post. You need a promotion AND a raise!) I would highly recommend Etrailer.com for your hauling needs.

boat sits outside year round and never an issue. I did use some extra anchoring, good zip ties and a good fabric type wrap from where it exits the trailer tube at the front all the way to the plug.

Hitch was easy to install. Bolt holes on the hitch lined up with the bolt holes on the Captiva so there was no modification needed. Wiring the light connection wasn't too hard to install.

Very satisfied with the service, I had no Idea of what to buy for my 2015 Chevrolet Captiva and the guide me in the right way. About the price it is very good more when you see the quality of the products, I went to [other retailer] and they wanted to charge me with almost $350 including installation when it is really easy to do it by yourself, they also have instructions and videos that guide you step by step on how to install your equipment.

I would recommend them.
by:
Install was a bit tough as bolt holes didn't line up perfectly so avoiding cross threading was tough. Then the wire harness was straight forward. What I wish fit tighter was the relationship between the square hole and my ball assembly. It chuck's back and forth but maybe that's typical. It's a sturdy unit.

works as advertised. Having etrailer do the install was absolutely the right Answer for me. I am able to pull a small trailer with my Captiva now, and haul my bikes. I save money on delivery charges of larger items.

Its pretty rare that the failure of a taillight converter would cause just one function to fail. Its more likely that none of the taillight functions would work. You can confirm if the converter is faulty be either trying a different trailer on the vehicle or by trying the trailer on a different vehicle. You could also use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the pin fed by the yellow wire while the left turn signal is activated.

by:
Excellent product, very well done [online] directions, I will use your product again and again. Thank You

  • Location of Factory Wiring Harness on a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport
I have attached a picture below of the panel you will need to remove to install either the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56257 or the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness item # HM11141304 on your 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport. These connectors plug into your factory wiring harness and do not require any cutting or splicing of wires. You will have to remove quite a bit of your Captiva's rear trim pieces to find the harnesses. I have linked a couple of installation...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Chevy Captiva Sport
For your 2013 Chevy Captiva you would want the Curt Hitch part # 13594 as it has been confirmed as a fit. A hitch from a 2012 Chevy Equinox would not fit this vehicle so I cannot recommend you attempt to install it there. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Captiva Sport
For a trailer hitch confirmed as a fit for your 2014 Chevy Captiva Sport that would work well to tow a small trailer the Curt Hitch # C13594 would be your best option. It has more than enough capacity and a concealed crosstube so that it's mostly concealed when installed. Then for trailer wiring the Curt kit part # C56257 is a confirmed custom fit. It has a converter box but since it installs by plugging inline with the taillight assemblies it's a simpler install. If you wanted to do...

According to Blue Ox, the # BX3332 is a fit up to the 2014 Captiva Sport. They haven't yet had the opportunity to do a test fit. However, Roadmaster states that the 2012-2015 Captiva uses the same # 3151-1A Base Plate. I'd recommend going with the Roadmaster Base Plate because it has been confirmed as a fit. If you went with the Blue Ox, and there was a problem, you might not have warranty coverage because the fit hasn't been tested yet. You'll also need a tow bar, safety cables, a wiring...

  • What is Difference Between Curt Trailer Wiring # C56257 and C56026 for 2012 Chevy Captiva Sport
There really isn't a difference between the two Curt part numbers you mentioned. Both the # C56257 and # C56026 are a fit for your 2012 Chevy Captiva Sport and would work great. Essentially the numbers represent the same harness and part number in our system so either one will work great.

You are correct. The only thing that comes with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75556 is the trailer hitch itself and the hardware needed for installation on your 2015 Chevrolet Captiva Sport. For a trailer wiring kit I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C56257. This plugs into the wiring behind your tail lights and just needs the wire run to the battery to power the trailer lights. This gives you a 4-Way flat connector for basic trailer lighting functions. To complete...
