Old incandescent bulbs can fade or burn out fast. This light uses a single white LED that lasts up to 50 times longer and produces a bright, clean glow for your license plate. With a power draw of only 0.054 amps at 12.8 volts, it delivers high visibility without adding strain to your electrical system. There are no filaments to break and no bulbs to replace, so you can mount it and forget about maintenance.
If your trailer ever sees wet roads or the boat ramp, this light won’t let water in. The chrome polycarbonate housing and clear lens are sonically sealed into one waterproof unit, keeping the diode and circuit board protected from moisture and corrosion. Even when submerged, the light stays dependable and clear—ready for the next trip without needing repairs or replacements.
Rough roads and vibration can destroy fragile lights. This Optronics model uses surface-mount technology (SMT) for its LED circuit board, which helps it better absorb shock and disperse heat. That means it resists cracking, flickering, or loosening connections over time, staying reliable even under constant movement or tough terrain.
Installation is quick with the built-in mounting ears and a 2-wire pigtail setup—one power lead, one ground wire. The mounting holes are 0.2" in diameter with 3-1/4" spacing center to center, so standard self-tapping screws fit right in. At 4-1/8" wide by 2-3/4" long by 1-7/8" tall, it mounts neatly wherever you need it, keeping your license plate clearly lit and road-legal with its DOT-compliant design.

They last longer, they burn brighter, they're more efficient. With LEDs, you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs or worry about brittle filaments. It also features durable surface mount technology when it comes to the construction of the LED circuit board. That design better withstands shock and vibration and allows for improved heat distribution.Again, it mounts directly on the surface of the trailer, mounting hardware not included. Two mount hole design and it's a two wire design.
We have the white wire, which is our ground wire, black wire is the power wire. It is Department of Transportation compliant.A few measurements to go over with real quick, then we'll hook it up to power and you can see what it looks like with power running to it. Edge to edge going this direction is four and 1/8th inches. Top to bottom measures one and 7/8th inches. Then, very front to very back gives us an overall depth of about two and three quarter inches.
Mount holes on the unit are separated on center by three and one quarter inches.We'll go ahead and hook it up to power. We'll turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting. You can see here that it sends light in a downward angle, illuminating whatever is directly below it. It's a single diode design or a single LED design, but it still provides plenty of light output to illuminate a license plate on the trailer. Power inaudible 00:01:45 at 12.8 volts is 0.054 amps.

Seems like a nice product for being all plastic. Light is sealed well and it fit good on my trailer. The light produces much more light in person than the video shown. That was a worry of mine but it’s plenty to light up a license plate. Hopefully it will be good and last a long time! So far so good!
The item arrived quick and came as described perfect replacement for the one I broke. Easy to install with helpful videos.
The light was what I needed but was not as easy to install as I had hoped due to the access required to find and connect to the existing wiring. That was a factor of our trailer and not having anything to do with the light. The light went in with some modifications and works as required.
