Today we're going to be reviewing part number DW00678. This is the Deka battery hold-down kit. It's going to allow you to replace your battery hold-down with this black rubber hold-down system that we have here today. This is going to secure the battery in the engine compartment. If we take a measurement, the distance that we have in between this area right here and this area right here, this is going to be what fits over top of the battery. That's going to give us a measurement of about 6.5 inches. It is a rubber construction, so that will stretch a little bit.

You can get it out to almost 7 inches. When stretched, it's really closer to 6 and 7/8s, so that's where we get that almost 7 inch measurement from. Really simple operation: you're going to get this rubber portion here that goes over the top of the battery. You're going to get 2 10-inch J bolts, you're going to get these padded rubber washers, as well as the wing nuts. All you have to do is hook the J hooks to the battery tray. That's going to be on each side of the battery.

Align the hold-down, which is this portion here, over top of the J hooks right here at the threaded portion. Push this down until you get it seated correctly on top of the battery. Then you install the rubber washers, and then thread down the wing nuts on top of the J bolts. It is important once you have it tight and secure, you do want to check for hood clearance before closing the hood of your vehicle. If it doesn't close, you can actually cut off any threads that are being unused to get the clearance that you need. That's going to do it for our review of part number DW00678.
