Space can be limited on some trailers, and that’s where this compact design helps. The 3/4" diameter round housing tucks neatly into place using a recessed mount setup. It connects with a simple two-wire pigtail featuring 0.108" female barrel connectors, making wiring quick and straightforward with minimal tools needed.
When properly mounted using the optional A11GLPB bracket (sold separately), this light meets SAE J587 requirements for license plate illumination and is DOT compliant. That means it not only looks clean but also meets legal lighting standards—giving you one less thing to worry about when you’re towing or hauling after dark.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics LED trailer license plate light. This is a compact light that illuminates your trailer's license plate when mounted with the required bracket. It meets SAEJ587 standards when properly mounted using the mounting bracket. That is sold separately with part number A11GLPB. You can find it right here at etrailer.com. This is a sealed waterproof construction, so it is submersible.
It's going to contain 2 LEDs. LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer. They burn brighter. They're much more efficient.
You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs or brittle filaments. It's going to be a polycarbonate lens. It's very strong and durable. The LEDs are going to be white LEDs. It's got the 2-wire pigtail with a nice wire casing around the wires to keep it protected. You're going to have your white wire and your black wire.
White's ground. Black is power. It's going to have the 0.108 female barrels on here for a quick connect design. Those can be cut off. If you want to hard wire this, you just cut those off, strip back the wiring, and you can use it for a hard wire application. That wire harness measuring from the back of the light housing to the closest point of the connectors is about 7 inches long.
The unit is department of transportation compliant. If we took a look at the diameter of just the light it's going to measure about 3/4 of an inch in diameter as you can see there. Again, it's got two LEDs. The power draw at 12.8 volts is 0.03 amps. Optronics puts a lifetime warranty on the LEDS. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to an external power source. That way we can see what it looks like with power running to it. We'll turn off our overhead lights so you can get a good look at how bright the light is. You can see here that it sends out a really nice, clear, consistent signal. Two diodes, so the multi-diode design really helps increase the light output. It also provides that nice, consistent signal that we're looking for. The white LEDs with the clear lens allows plenty of light to come through. Again, this is designed to be mounted with the required mounting bracket for a license plate light. That is sold separately. Again, you can find that bracket on our website with part number A11GLPB. Even though the item was out of stock and had to be ordered I do not blame the company for the delays involved after placing my order, especially pre Christmas time with the post office crunch for all retail sales.

The light works perfectly. It's bright enough to light up the license plate from a few inches from the side. The light is wired in place of the existing light and mounted in a new location. It has been in place for a year, many miles, rain, snow and lots of sun. The night time pic makes the light itself look super bright but that is the camera.

Perfect replacement for the old incandescent license plate lights on my 2019 Newmar Mountain Aire. I did paint one side silver to match old lights. These new LEDs lights are sealed so I expect they won’t burn out easily like the old lights.
