Features to Know About

How Do I Know This Hub Will Fit My Trailer?

Designed for standard 3,500 lb axle spindles, this hub works with many utility and cargo trailers. Matching your bearing sizes is the easiest way to confirm it will fit your setup.

Idler Hub Design

This is an idler hub, meaning it does not include a drum or braking surface. It is used on trailer axles without brakes, allowing the wheel to spin freely while supporting the load.

Pre-Greased Hub Assembly

Bearings come packed with grease and races are already installed, reducing prep work and helping ensure proper lubrication during installation.

Video Transcript for Review of Terran Industries Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub 5 on 4-1-2 - TX33VJ

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking together at our Terran Industries Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500 pound axles, and it's a five on four and a half inch lug pattern. So folks, whenever we talk about lug patterns, that five on four and a half, whenever it's an odd number lug pattern, you wanna make sure you're measured from the center of one stud, directly across and in between those adjacent two studs. And that's where you're gonna get that four and a half inch measurement. So please make sure you're double checking your measurements before you're ordering the hubs to be sure you're getting the right ones the first time.

And you can always reach out to us if you have any questions. Now, this again, is a complete hub assembly for replacement. You're gonna have the dust cap with plug. You're gonna have the outer bearing. You need to make sure you grease that up before you insert it, and then put your cap on.

And then, of course, you have your lug nuts to go with the studs. And the back bearing, the inner bearing and seal are already installed and pre-greased. So that's gonna make a smooth operation a quick repair for you. I like to personally keep one in my toolbox on my trailer. That way if I ever have a breakdown on the road or something, I'm ready to get right back up on the road with no problems, or at least another bearing kit or something like that.

So it's a good thing to have an extra one of as well, just for the what if factor. Now again, this is a five and four and a half inch bolt pattern. That works with a lot of mid-size trailers. A 3,500 pound Dexter EZ Lube and etrailer Easy Grease trailer axle would be a great application for this. And the weight capacity is about 1,750 pounds per hub.

So again, this is designed for a 3,500 pound axle that's not actually carrying that much weight. The lug studs are a half inch. And of course, you have your lug nuts as well. So again, folks, a great option if you're replacing your idler hub or if you just wanna have a spare like myself for the what if factor. That will wrap it up for our quick look together. As I said before, reach out to us if you have questions or concerns or comments. We'd love to hear back from you. Have a good one.

  • Replacement Idler Hub On 6' x 14' Utility Trailer With 3,500 Pound Axle
Hi Jackie! A 3,500 pound axle should use the # L68149 inner bearing, # L44649 outer bearing, and # 58846 grease seal, which the Terran Axle Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500 lbs Axle - 5 on 4-1/2 # TX33VJ also uses. Unfortunately, I can't tell if those are the bearings the hub in your pictures uses. But since the hub is already off, it does make finding out a lot easier. Just remove the seal and pop the bearings out. There will be numbers on them (see first picture I have attached)...

  • Bearings and Grease Seal for Terran Axle Idler Hub
Hi Nate; the Terran Axle Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # TX33VJ uses the standard 3,500 lb bearing combination and grease seal. It has a # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearing with a # 58846 (10-19) grease seal. If you're looking for a replacement hub I recommend getting the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K instead. The Terran hubs recently showed up and we found they aren't fully pre-greased. Also, a specific grease is used that isn't compatible with most on...

  • Will Terran Axle Trailer Idler Hub Assembly Fit 2k Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension
Hey Tom! Yes, the Terran Axle Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # TX33VJ will fit the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR2KHDS01. The Timbren uses your standard 3,500 lb bearing combination, just like the hub. The Timbren system comes with spindle nuts and washers so you won't need to purchase them separately. Are you building a trailer or swapping out your standard axle with the Timbren to upgrade your suspension/clearance?

  • Looking for Hub to Fit Shorelandr Trailer
Hey Tim, the correct hub drum for your trailer axle would be the part # TX68VJ if your trailer has brakes or if you were needing an idler hub you would instead need the part # TX33VJ. Both of these come with bearings and correct bolt pattern but they are our best priced options and we also don't have any that don't include bearings.
