When you’re fixing up or upgrading a trailer, the last thing you want is to waste time packing bearings. This Dexter hub-and-drum assembly comes pre-greased and ready to install on 3,500-lb axles with #84 spindles. The inner bearing (L68149) and outer bearing (L44649) are already in place, along with the races, grease seal, cap, and lug nuts. Just slide it on and torque it down — no messy prep work needed.
Whether you’re running electric or hydraulic drum brakes, this 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide hub-and-drum gives your shoes a solid surface to bite against for steady braking. Dexter builds it from sturdy iron for long-term reliability, and the 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern fits standard trailer wheels from 13" to 15".
The bearing setup is a proven combination for 3,500-lb axles — L68149 inner (1.378" ID) and L44649 outer (1.063" ID) bearings with matching races and a 58846 seal (1.719" ID, 2.565" OD). Each hub supports up to 1,750 lbs, giving you balanced load capacity across the axle. The grease cap flange diameter of 1.988" provides a snug seal to keep grease in and grit out.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

You guys are great!! Lost a wheel and tire on the way to Yellowstone and broke all most of the studs on hub. I sent order on Sunday got the new hub on Tuesday morning got to Yellowstone on Wensday . We are work campers, we left Snowy Peaks Rv park in Buena Vista Colorado to go up to work at its sister park Grizzly Rv Park in West Yellowstone Mt. Thanks to you guys we made it on time!
Good Quality, only reason for a 4 and not a 5 is bearings have very little grease in them and were already installed with the bearing seal installed
Exactly what I needed and bearings were already greased. Made t g e installation quick and easy.
Not as happy as I should have been, but i think more because of shipping. Three of the seals on the drums were knocked loose with one covered in grease. And two of the bearing covers were bent, one very bad. Most of the bags they were shipped in, were broken open.
They installed easy and work as expected. I converted a non-brake trailer to have brakes.
These drums worked great and I appreciate that they include new, pre greased bearings. It was super easy to get the old bearings and hub off and install this new drum. I intentionally bought brand name and they are more expensive than the store brand. While I don’t know what I get for the extra $$$, they do work perfect and I’m happy with the value for the money!

I purchased two brake hubs and two electric brake assemblies along with mounting nuts and lock washers. I received them in two days and installed them the same day they arrived. the fit was perfect. I highly recommend these to anyone in need of brake parts.
At the time I ordered these, I was new to re-doing brakes. I had never done anything like it before. I did my best research. However, I still ordered the wrong parts for my trailer. George and Tamera were extremely helpful in their research! They went out of their way to help me get what I needed. After watching the videos and getting greasy, the job was complete. I may have made mistakes along the way, and I really should have called first, but in the end, my trailer works great.

The brakes work great! Wish I had Installed brakes on my utility trailer a long time ago. I move a small compact tractor with my trailer. With the brakes installed on my trailer, driving on the road at highway speeds is much safer now. I can stop in a normal distance, where before it was a bit dangerous. Love the performance of them! Thanks for the information you provided which enabled me to figure out what I needed!
