This Dexter idler hub assembly is made for serious hauling. It’s rated for 10,000-lb axles and carries up to 5,000 lbs per hub. The sturdy iron build gives solid support and long-term durability under demanding loads. With a pilot hole diameter of 4-3/4" and an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern using 5/8" studs, it’s a proven setup for heavy-duty use.
Keeping bearings greased doesn’t have to be a chore. The oil bath design lets you see your lubricant level right through the clear oil cap—no need to pull the hub apart. A quick glance tells you when to top off, helping prevent dry bearings and extending service life without the mess of packing grease.
No scavenger hunt for small parts. This assembly comes complete with inner bearing (395S) and race (394A), outer bearing (387A) and race (382A), oil seal (10-56, 3.125" ID / 4.50" OD), oil cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts—all ready to mount. Having everything in one box means less downtime and a simpler setup when replacing or upgrading hubs.
Each component in this hub is engineered to work together with tight tolerances. The inner bearing bore is 2.625" and the outer is 2.250", perfectly matched to the included races and seal. This precision fit keeps the rotation smooth and helps reduce wear on both bearings and spindle over time.
Dexter built this hub with durability in mind from the inside out. The iron construction holds up under constant use, while the oil bath system keeps friction down mile after mile. It’s a dependable foundation for trailers that need consistent performance on long trips or heavy workdays.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

You mentioned that you did not think that it was for a 10,000-pound axle. I wanted to ask if you could explain in more detail why you feel that it is not.

It is the wrong part....the hub is too big for my axle....I guess they make two different sizes for the 10000 lb axle....I need to swap it out....if we can determine you have the part I need in stock perhaps I can drive up there and swap it out.

I will have my Customer Service team reach out to you.
It does not fit my trailer wheel. So now I must pay freight charges to send it back and drive 3 hours one way to find the correct replacement part so I can get my Hot Shot trailer back in service and try to make a paycheck
