Replace your existing grease cap with a Bearing Buddy for an easy way to monitor and maintain the grease level in your axle hub. Use a grease gun to add grease through the zerk fitting. As the hub fills, the spring-loaded piston moves outward, raising the blue auto-check ring. When the blue ring is 1/8" above the steel retaining ring, the hub is properly filled.
The O-ring inside the barrel of the Bearing Buddy maintains a seal from the outside. The pressurized grease inside the hub helps prevent water from entering and contaminating the grease. Bearing Buddy also includes an automatic pressure-relief feature to help prevent overfilling and damage to the inner seal. Once the hub is full, excess grease seeps around the edges of the piston and into the barrel while the blue auto-check ring remains raised.
Check the blue auto-check ring to see when it's time to add grease. If the ring has receded below or is flush with the steel retaining ring, more grease is needed. If the lip of the blue ring is 1/8" above the steel retaining ring, the hub is properly filled.

And this convention brings a lot of the vendors that we have at Etrailer to a convention where we have their booths and their products set up. I had a chance to catch up with quite a few of them. So let's take a look at their products a little bit up close and ask some of the questions to those vendors about their products. And what is Bearing Buddy Okay, Bearing Buddy is a wheel bearing protector for any kind of trailers like boat, utility, and RV trailers. The purpose of the product is to protect the bearings and all the spindle and keep it lubricated because when you go to the road on the outside, you're gonna protect it against mud, water, salt, okay And as you can see, you can add the grease up here through the zerk fitting. And it's pistol-loaded and it has a spring that's gonna create a force or pressure outside the Bearing Buddy, so the grease is not coming out, but the water is not gonna come in, okay And you will keep the bearings in good conditions. How do you know if you add the correct amount of grease Okay, this is very simple. You're gonna add the grease in, the lubricant indicator's gonna come out, okay 1/8 of an inch, and it's gonna tell you that you have enough grease.
Our product stems from the other ones because we have a good quality, the internal components are made of stainless steel, okay For example, this spring push and keeps the differential first of the three PFA. A very common point question that we've received from customers is if we add too much grit, those seals are gonna blow out. I wanna tell you no, they're not gonna blow out, why Because the spring is gonna push three PSI, and the seal resists 10 PSI, okay And if you add too much grease on it, the breeze is gonna come out from the sides, okay And they won't blow those seals, okay We also have the Bearing Buddy Bra that keeps the grease out of the wheels, okay You can put it on the top of the Bearing Buddy, and there will be a clean system on your tray. How often do you recommend repacking bearings If you have the Bearing Buddies, we don't recommend you to pack it, okay But customer needs to know that you need to give a good maintenance to the wheel. Your wheels need to be balanced, good condition.
Then the wheels cannot be wobbling because then the Bearing Buddy is gonna come out or everything that you have inside it, it can be damaged. Really cool design. And really, who is this for Who would want this Everybody that has a trailer, okay And we love farmers. Every time they come with a good question or a special need, we made a custom made Bearing Buddy for them, okay And utility trailers where they use the trailer for work, okay And they want the investment to be, how do you say it You want to make sure your investment is safe, okay And you need a trailer without good condition. And we at Bearing Buddy assure you that you're gonna have that.
And that's something with a work trailer, yeah, you're wanting to use that for work, and having a trailer that's not operating properly makes it where you can't work. And this is something. Maintenance I've done on all my cars, but if there's something that I can put in place to avoid having to do maintenance long-term and protect it, I think that's a win. So very cool product. Bearing Buddies customer support is horrible, one of my new caps was defective the grease zerk came off, I contacted them and this is what they sent me, I guess I’m supposed to bring it to a mechanic and pay $$$ to have it fixed ! Garbage !
As expected, fast shipping
I haven't move the trailer after I put the BB1980T-SS grease cap on it. They started on pretty good then got harder about mid way on, so I got a pipe ranch to get them all the way on but over all it wasn't very hard to do it only took about 15 minutes to complete the project which is good. They really set the trailer off because the trailer is painted Black.

Love how easy it is to keep the wheel bearings greased with these Bearing Buddy's.
Just pop the cover off, hook up the grease gun, a few quick pumps, and the bearings are ready for another season. The blue inside plate moves out as the grease goes in so you do not over fill the bearing. Slid the cover back on and you are done.

wrong shipping address was applied to the order attempted two minutes after placing the order to change the address. All I got was voicemail basically two days later I received a response saying it was too late and of course, after two days, it would be too late.
Fast shipping on these bearing buddys. They are an odd size, it was an old international truck axle I used to build a trailer. I couldn't find them anywhere else, and the price was good for a quality bearing protector.
I replaced my plastic hub cap that fell off with these. The stainless steel models are extremely high quality. Very pleased with the purchase. After pounding them on my new hubs, I don't know how I can remove them to service the bearings in the future. Hopefully I won't have to take them off.
Installation instructions were very helpful and thanks to the customer service rep, these fit my hub assembly perfectly.
I lost one of four bearing buddies. I love these things, I just wish they made a model that could be used with greasable spindles. Now to figure out why the first one came off my brand new trailer. I used red picture on this one, we will see.

Really only needed a cap. Because not a boating trailer. But 1.81 diameter in dust caps is hard to find. It fits good. Etrailer is the place, when it comes to a large size variety.
All 3 products are working well. Before the new parts, the trailer blew a tire which bent up the fender and smashed a tail light. I ordered what I needed from eTrailer and put my trailer back together. Parts were all available and came quick. I didn't miss any fishing opportunities as a result.

Product Review: Only intimidating before you install. Really easy, pop out the OEM caps and replace with the bearing buddies, fill the buddies with your grease gun and you are done. Nice to know my (well greased by the factory ) wheel bearings now have a supply of grease under slight pressure to be sure there will always be grease in my bearings and foreign matter will be kept out.
