If your old drums are dragging or worn out, these etrailer electric trailer brakes make a big improvement. Each 12-1/4" x 3-3/8" assembly comes ready to bolt on, with left- and right-hand sides included for one axle. They’re rated for 10,000-lb axles and fit standard hub-and-drum setups from brands like Dexter and Lippert. With automotive-grade pads fully bonded to the shoes, you get smooth, consistent braking and solid torque every time you stop.
Manual adjustments are a thing of the past with these brakes. A built-in tension cable automatically maintains proper pad alignment as the friction material wears down, so braking power stays strong and even over time. That means no more crawling under the trailer to tweak adjusters—just reliable stopping every trip.
Road grime and rust can shorten brake life fast. These assemblies use e-coated backing plates that fend off corrosion, while dust shields block dirt and debris from reaching critical parts. The result is dependable performance season after season, even in rough or wet conditions.
The friction material on these pads meets SAE-N certification standards—the same level used in automotive applications. The pads are tapered to reduce chatter and lockup, which helps prevent uneven wear and broken edges. Bonded construction eliminates rivet drag noise and gives more surface contact for better stopping power.
Each assembly meets QAI, CSA, and SAE-N standards for safety and performance. They come complete with adjuster plugs and magnets preinstalled—just add the mounting bolts and hardware kit (sold separately) to finish the job. With a simple “bolt on and wire up” design, these brakes deliver reliable control without hydraulic lines or actuators.
The brakes will be very hot after doing this, so after every 10 stops you’ll want to wait about 10 minutes to let the brakes cool off before continuing. If you don’t, you might cook and crack the pad material.
