Looking For Brakes And Hubs For 10K American Axles

Updated 08/14/2026 | Published 08/09/2026

Question:

I’m looking for a brake and drum assembly for my 10k axles. And they’re American axles. Is there a kit to do the whole thing?

Hey Jonah, thanks for reaching out. Yes, we do have brakes and drums for 10K axles. The brakes are a standard size, so for those I recommend the following:

- etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes w/ Dust Shields - Self-Adjusting - 12-1/4" - Left/Right - 10K # AKEBRK-10

For the hubs, you will want to confirm some specs before ordering just to be sure the hub will fit you axle. The Dexter Trailer Hub Drum Assembly # 8-430-5UC3 is likely what you will need. This is made for 10K rated axles made after July of 2009. It uses the 387A (2.250" inner diameter) inner and 25580 (1.750" inner diameter) outer bearings. I suggest confirming your axle uses these same bearing sizes. You can pull a hub and remove the bearings. Each one should have a number stamped on the edge, or you can measure the ID of each one with a micrometer. Once we confirm those bearing sizes, you will be good to go.

What kind of trailer do you have?
