Tired of complicated setups? The Dexter BrakeRite II Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit boasts a plug-and-play design, making connections a breeze without any hardwiring. Perfect for enthusiasts who enjoy quick and easy installations, this feature ensures you spend more time enjoying the journey rather than figuring out the configurations.

Enhanced Stopping Power: Electric-Hydraulic Brake Performance

Want faster and more effective braking for your disc brakes? By combining the quick response of electric brake controllers with the robust power of hydraulic actuators, this system delivers unmatched stopping capability. It's designed for those who prioritize safety and performance when towing heavy loads on the road.

Reliable Weather Protection: Durable, Vented Housing

Worried about wear and tear? The vented design reduces heat buildup and prevents fluid leaks, while the durable plastic housing offers excellent weather resistance. This ensures longevity and reliability, even in harsh conditions, making it ideal for marine and travel trailer applications.

Quick Stops When You Need Them: Rapid Response Time

When it comes to braking, every second counts. Reaching 200 psi in just 0.3 seconds and 1,350 psi in 1.1 seconds, this actuator provides the precise, rapid response you need when towing. It’s a must-have for those who need peace of mind while on the road.

Versatile Trailer Compatibility: Adaptable for Disc and Drum Brakes

Do you own multiple types of trailers? This actuator is primarily for disc brakes but can be adapted for drum brakes with a separate reducer. This versatility ensures that you can use it across different towing setups, offering flexibility whether you’re on a trailer or a boat.

Simple, Secure Mounting: Upright Installation

Installation shouldn’t be a hassle. With its upright mounting design, the actuator lets the motor push brake fluid downward, reducing the risk of heat buildup and spillage. Set it up quickly and securely, knowing your actuator will perform optimally from the get-go.

Will work great on our truck.

by:

Works great even after a year!

by:

Really happy with how this system works

by:

I have yet to try them out, but they seem like they are going to work great.

The only problem I had was that the kit was short on set of lines for one of my axels.

by:

Much more stopping power, seems a bit slow to activate however. Could use a much larger fluid reservoir to facilitate bleeding. Slow activation might be due to difficulty bleeding all air without sucking new air.

by:

The Break system it is excellent, good quality, and everything is ready to be installed. I never have done this type of job before but with the help of the installation video it made the job really easy. The only reason that I'm not giving it five stars is because the kit was missing the bolts to connect the calipers to the axle but they sent them to me as soon as I called them. It added another 4 days to the project. ETrailer's customer service is excellent and when I had a technical question a technician called back within 10 minutes.

The product itself is very good. The actuator is a little noicy but you have to be outside the vehicle to hear it, inside the vehicle you can not hear it. I installed this kit on my 2006 boat mate trailer for my Malibu wakesetter. It was equipped with disc brakes before and were the surge type and they also quite working. I had to install new bearings and seals anyway so I thought some fresh brake would do as well. I also wanted to get rid of the surge brake type and turned to this electric over hydraulic as I wanted control from my cab. My 2014 dodge with the factory built in brake controller works excellent with the actuator. The one downside I did have were the seals were wrong size, the bearings matched and races so I thought it was a little weird that the seals wouldn't match. I had an inside diameter of 1.68 on the axel and the seals with the kit were 1.716 I do believe. 8 bucks for new seals I could care less. It did not bother me to buy new seals. I also had to buy the four bolts to bolt the bracket for the caliber onto the axle. Kit did not come with. If you were to buy this kit for a boat trailer be prepared to build a bracket of some sort for the batteries, control box, and actuator. I got lucky for the emergency break away and I had a quarter inch hole available and bolted it to there. Over all very good kit and easy to install with the mechanical skills.

by:

Great product. Installed on a boat trailer for a heavy 25ft boat. We drive a lot of hills and the old surge brakes were useless at the end of a long down hill. Truck and trailer stop on a dime now and much easier to hose off after saltwater trips. The only down fall to the kit was the brake lines. The long sections were great but I ended up cutting a flairing my own to make it work. I also had to buy extra rubber hoses to run to the calipers.
Very happy with the outcome and performance.

by:

I put this system on a 2 axle boat trailer, approx 4500lbs. After trying 3 different actuators I'm still stuck with way too much brake on the lowest setting. After 4-5 calls into the company that bought Titan I was able to speak with the guy that could help me out. He offered the solution of adding the drum brake adapter, which decreases the voltage to the pump. Titan is out of stock, and all the vendors that well it want more than the cost of the part to ship it. So for now I have a $1100 brake system that does nothing but add weight to my trailer. Also, every one of the the Chinese copper washers for the hydraulic lines spewed brake fluid after installation. The parts store had replacements for $10 that were 3 times as thick.

by:

Installation of the disc brakes was relatively straightforward with the exception of making the hydraulic lines fit. But that could not be helped as of course every trailer chassis is different, so fitting the brake lines involved a bit of customization, but we got it to work nicely in the end. I will say that the brakes should have been larger in diameter. A car the weight of this trailer would have had brake discs at least an inch larger in size, but so far they have been stopping better than the electric drum brakes they replaced with less tendency to lock up. I would recommend this product as an upgrade to drum brakes.

by:

Thanks for your promptness and professionalism. I have only had time to pick up the kit and store it. My trailer will be set for a special application I will end up with lots of unusable bits. I will be sure to send a followup after I have the system installed.

by:

Installation instructions are weak. Evidently I am going to have to have a mounting plate manufactured to mount the unit. I can not mount the unit till I get the weight distribution hitch so that I can be sure that one doesn't interfere with the other. There is little to no information on the internet to help with the installation. No visible information on the manufacturer's web site.

by:

This is so easy to install you can not mess it up even if you tried. The plugs will only plug into the plug it goes to. The only issue I had was the manual I got said that the batteries that you order for the breakaway switch should ground to the trailer. I contacted Titan and they said that I got a old manual and they no longer recommend trailer grounding and emailed me a current manual. I think for the price they should send out updated manuals.

The hardest part of the install is routing the wires to make it look like a clean install because it is so much wiring. It stops my 5,000lb boat like it is nothing.

by:

I’ve been on one 600 mile trip since installing these, 1week ago. So for they are a significant improvement over the surge drum brakes.

I installed these on a boat trailer, about 4,500 lb. I was worried about having too much brake based on other reviews, so I only installed one axle. My controller is set at 3.5. Factory controller in a 2012 F350. Didn’t need the Ford/Chevy adapter, but installed it anyway.

Install took about 6-8 hours, between making brackets, mounting everything, and fitting brake lines. Installed everything in two days on the weekend.

by:

works as designed the plug had to be devided as not adaptable for fifth wheel woud recomend other unit which has every thing build inside as to only have to run 4 wires

by:

I pulled my boat for 1,500 miles soon after replacing the old pump. Brakes were effective and worked perfect. That was a year ago. Last week I launched my boat for the first time since then. No brakes. After a lot of contact cleaner, plugging and unplugging the cable to the truck, exercising the brake actuator, I finally got the pump to work again. That was the reason I replaced the original pump which was inop because of not being used. If you don't use it, you will lose it. It is a very expensive part. Dexter will not sell you the electronic pressure proportional valve that gets gummed up causing the pump to fail. Dexter will not give you the part number for that valve. Unfortunately, the stamped part number got obliterated part number during removal was unreadable. This was a very expensive lesson to learn, $1,069.98. In the future I will be exceptional careful when removing the valve should I have another failure. That valve will probably sell for less than $100.00.

As far as Etrailer is concerned, they are the best when it comes to shipping quickly and helping the customer get what he needs.

by:

They sent package with incorrect wiring but sent the new one. Easy install great customer service

by:

I am most please that this company stands by their product and is a pleasure to deal with!!!!!!!!!!!!

by:

The actuator kit has really worked well! Installation was straight forward, and the system has worked great on my boat trailer. Far better than the original surge brake system.

by:

Expensive but worth every penny! Works like a charm, it does have a whining sound when in operation, this includes stop lights, you'll sit there with a constant buzzing, it's not super loud but noticeable. I have mine installed in a tongue tool box to protect from theft and weather so the sound is muffled. The extra safety and braking performance is worth though!

by:

Nice to have real brakes on the camper.

Titan
has a great tech help line. I explained the problem i was facing and was given 2 things to verify. Less than 5 minutes of trouble shooting and I had it working just like it is supposed to. Not only did they help me solve my problem, but I was emailed a revised owners manual and field trouble shooting guide.

Great products and great CS from titan

by:

E trailer came through with limited quantities of eoh activator kits when no one else had them.
And a real person tracked my order and send me emails about status

by:

i used the same unit on my old trailer. installing this one on my new boat trailer, they work great

by:

Great kit and value. Wish including battery & box for simple but see why as some may want bigger battery

  • Troubleshooting Titan Brake-Rite That Pump Wont Pressurize
If your Titan BrakeRite # T4813102 is not building pressure you are going to want to start by ensuring the actuator is properly grounded to a 12 volt battery. Should that not be the cause, test the actuator using a voltmeter with the tow vehicle connected to the trailer. Look at the volts from the black wire to the white wire, first when the brakes are NOT applied and then when the brakes ARE applied. The voltage when the brakes are NOT applied should be around 12, and when NOT applied...

  • Motor Runs on Brake Rite EHB Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator but Does Not Build Pressure
It sounds like the motor is running but not building pressure. This could indicate a leak somewhere since you have a full reservoir. The next thing you can do is bleed the brakes to ensure the system is free of air in the lines. I have included a picture of how the EHB should be wired. The black and purple wires in the diagram should have 12 volt power. The blue wire should have power when the brake controller is activated. Check the breakaway switch and battery to make sure they are...

  • Troubleshooting Titan BrakeRite Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuator-Won't Build Pressure
I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha, who is doubtful the controller is the issue. The voltage from the controlleer that's sent to the actuator is very minimal, it's just telling the actuator when and how hard to fire. The actuator is actually powered by the 12 volt auxiliary circuit from the 7-way, which delivers the power that actually runs the actuator. Since the controller will cause the actuator to cycle, and using a different truck seems to solve the problem, it tends to point the...

The issue you described sounds like a problem on the trailer side wiring. I have attached the wiring diagram of the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator part # T4813100 for you. The first thing you will want to check is the blue brake output wire that leads from the trailer side trailer connector to the actuator.
