Titan Brake Actuator - T4822500

  • Electric-Hydraulic Brake Actuator
  • Drum Brakes
  • Titan
  • 1000 psi

Get the best in brake actuator technology with the BrakeRite EHB. Use your brake controller in conjunction with a hydraulic actuator for better, more controlled stopping.

Features:

  • Electric-over-hydraulic brake actuator mounts on trailer and hardwires into trailer wiring system
    • Brake controller (sold separately) is required to send signal from tow vehicle to actuator when brakes are applied
    • Signal triggers pump and motor on actuator, activating trailer brakes
  • Pump-and-motor-based system increases response time compared with traditional hydraulic actuators
    • Trailer brakes are triggered when you apply brakes in tow vehicle, as opposed to when trailer pushes against hitch ball
  • Electronic, proportional pressure valve ensures that braking is smooth and effective
    • Controls braking pressure during long-term braking
  • Fluid reservoir is isolated and has diaphragm-type filler cap to prevent spills and leakage

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic drum brakes
  • Hydraulic pressure: 1,000 psi
  • Vehicle must be wired with an in-cab electric brake controller (sold separately)
  • 1-Year warranty

With a faster response time and more proportional braking than traditional, surge-type actuators, the BrakeRite is perfect for nearly any towing application from light to heavy duty. The system works with most in-cab brake controllers to sense when and how you apply the brakes in the tow vehicle. An electrical signal is then sent to the actuator to trigger its pump and motor. Brake fluid is released and sent to the trailer brakes to activate them. The result is real-time braking that, thanks to the electronic proportional valve system, is also smooth and controlled.

The brake controller pump is adequate however it is not a very good way to make brakes work on a trailer. It has nothing to do with your service or your quick shipment of that part. You're supplying the part and getting it to me was excellent as well as the service from the lady that took my order she did a great job. 597581

Works perfectly fine for my 15K Lbs boat trailer. Haven't had any issues with it since. The last one I replaced it with worked for over 12 years. The old one finally got dry rotted and was slowly leaking fluid. Could've kept using it but decided to replace it with this new one before a big trip. 887169

Is it normal for this brakerite actuator to have had brake fluid(not much but fluid is present) iin it? 575566

Comments
It is indeed! Titan bench tests each and every actuator before its shipped, so its perfectly normal for there to be a residual amount of brake fluid still in it.

Review from a similar BrakeRite EHB in Brake Actuator

I put disc brakes on my 38 foot 5th wheel travel trailer due to the poor brake quality of the manufacturer. I now drive on the highway with much greater confidence for our safety. The stopping power of these brakes is incredible. The quality of the brakes are superior. I installed them myself finding the instructions accurate and easy to follow. There was a small part missing out of the brake line kit and the part was overnited to me by E Trailer. I have purchased many items from this company and have found the products to be of top quality and fairly priced. The customer service is outstanding. Thank you. 306849

Review from a similar BrakeRite EHB in Brake Actuator

The products were ordered on Sunday night late, delivered by Wednesday. Converting drum surge brakes to disc, electric over hydraulic on a boat trailer for 26ft Sea Ray boat. I had everything including Titan brake actuator, 4 kodiac rotor and caliper conversion kits with bearings, and new lines installed by Thursday evening. Installation was straight forward, everything fit perfectly. One of the calipers was malfunctioning (not releasing). I called customer service and I had a new one within two days, it's now installed and working great!! Great product! Awesome service!! Stops better than any other trailer brakes I have ever experienced. 338160

Bolted right on. It was half day job installing this unit with my entire brake job ripping the old drums off and installing Discs, this unit is fantastic and works flawlessly. Sometimes I show off the effectiveness of the EOH system with the disc brakes to my friends. I have a 7,700lb boat and I'll only use my brake controller instead of my brake pedal going down steep hills. the trailer brakes quickly and effectively slow the GMC Yukon and boat by themselves with no vehicle brakes. I've attached photos of a few phases of the install as well as the entire vehicle to see what I'm talking about. This unit is very responsive and very effective, the greatest advantage if EOH systems is braking going backwards. It is awesome for launching the boat. Enjoy! 284060

Review from a similar BrakeRite EHB in Brake Actuator

It’s been a year of use and no surge brakes problems after my conversion to the BrakeRite - electric over hydraulic pump. I have a two axel disk brake boat trailer that it now services. I like it very much and had to modify the mount placement High so it didn’t get wet when backing the boat down the boat ramp. All in all I’d recommend it if you can afford it and want more consistent stopping power. Thanks etrailer and BrakeRite. 744475

This EHB was a little trouble putting in as the template for the holes was xeroxed so many time the holes were /4 inch off. So I had to fill in three holes in my chassis floor. Once nstalled and the brakes bled, it worked like a charm. Definitely much greater stopping power. 211364

Ask the Experts about this Titan Brake Actuator

  • Comparing the HydraStar Hydraulic Actuator and the Titan BrakeRite Hydraulic Actuator
It looks like you have certainly done your research in regards to the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator and the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator. In regards to repose time, this goes to the Titan BrakeRite EHB with a response time of .3 seconds whereas the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator has a response time of .8 seconds. This is due to the five vs three piston pumps that each respective units use. In regards to the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic...

  • Which Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator is Best for Trailer Brakes
We prefer the Hydrastar Actuator part # HBA16 as it is the most reliable and works the best. Rarely do we ever get emails or calls for help troubleshooting problems with this actuator and is the one our installers like the most so I would recommend it highly. You will need a brake controller installed in the tow vehicle that is compatible with this style of trailer brakes. The controller will put out a varying amount of voltage to the actuator which will then build the appropriate amount...

  • Can a Trailer Use Both a Brake Actuator and Electric Brakes
A trailer can have electric-over-hydraulic brakes. This system will use an electric brake controller to send a signal from the tow vehicle to an actuator when the brakes are applied. The signal triggers the pump and motor on the actuator and activates the trailer brakes. The actuator on an electric-over-hydraulic will look like the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator, part # T4822500. It will not look like a brake actuator coupler that is used on surge brake systems and bolts...

  • Can the Titan BrakeRite Electric-Over-Hydraulic System be Power Washed
The housing for the Titan BrakeRite electric-over-hydraulic systems is water resistant, but it is not water proof. I recommend staying away from the unit as much as possible when power washing because the circuit board inside the unit is only protected by the white plastic cover. If you want to design a housing around the unit, you will want to design a unit that still allows for air flow. There is a circuit board, a pump motor and electronic connections contained within this unit and...

  • What are the Wiring Functions on the Titan Brake Rite EHB Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators
The violet wire from the Titan Brake Rite EHB does indeed go to the positive terminal on a breakaway battery and to the breakaway switch. But the black wire does not connect to the brake away battery. It connects to the 12 volt circuit from the 7-Way. So if you have a junction box the 12 volt wire from the 7-Way will go to the junction box and the EHB black wire will connect to the same post in the junction box. I will add a picture showing how the EHB is supposed to wire up.

For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.
