Titan Brake Actuator - T4822500

Get the best in brake actuator technology with the BrakeRite EHB. Use your brake controller in conjunction with a hydraulic actuator for better, more controlled stopping.

Features:

  • Electric-over-hydraulic brake actuator mounts on trailer and hardwires into trailer wiring system
    • Brake controller (sold separately) is required to send signal from tow vehicle to actuator when brakes are applied
    • Signal triggers pump and motor on actuator, activating trailer brakes
  • Pump-and-motor-based system increases response time compared with traditional hydraulic actuators
    • Trailer brakes are triggered when you apply brakes in tow vehicle, as opposed to when trailer pushes against hitch ball
  • Electronic, proportional pressure valve ensures that braking is smooth and effective
    • Controls braking pressure during long-term braking
  • Fluid reservoir is isolated and has diaphragm-type filler cap to prevent spills and leakage

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic drum brakes
  • Hydraulic pressure: 1,000 psi
  • Vehicle must be wired with an in-cab electric brake controller (sold separately)
  • 1-Year warranty

With a faster response time and more proportional braking than traditional, surge-type actuators, the BrakeRite is perfect for nearly any towing application from light to heavy duty. The system works with most in-cab brake controllers to sense when and how you apply the brakes in the tow vehicle. An electrical signal is then sent to the actuator to trigger its pump and motor. Brake fluid is released and sent to the trailer brakes to activate them. The result is real-time braking that, thanks to the electronic proportional valve system, is also smooth and controlled.

Video Transcript for Titan Brake Actuator - Electric-Hydraulic Brake Actuator - T4822500 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan BrakeRite EHB electric hydraulic actuator for drum brakes. Now this actuator has a faster response time, more proportional braking than your traditional surge type actuator. The BrakeRite's perfect for nearly any towing application from light all the way up to heavy duty. This electrical hydraulic brake actuator will mount on your trailer. It hard-wires into your trailer wiring system. Now the brake control, which we do sell separately is required to send the signal from your tow vehicle to this actuator when your brakes are applied. The signal will trigger a pump and motor on this actuator, which will activate your trailer brakes. Now the pump and motor base system increases your response time compared with your traditional hydraulic actuators.

Basically your trailer brakes are triggered when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, as opposed to when your trailer pushes against the hitch ball. On the inside it does use electronic proportional pressure valves to ensure that the braking is smooth and effective, controls the braking pressure during long-term braking. The fluid reservoir, right down here is isolated, has a diaphragm-type filler cap to prevent spills and leakage. Now it does come with the wiring. It does have to be wired into your trailer. Basically there's five wires. Just to go through them, the size and what color goes to what.

We'll start with the white wire. That is a 12 gauge wire and that's for a 12 volt ground. The black wire is the other 12 gauge wire. That's a 12 volt power. The blue wire is a 16 gauge and that's for the brake control input from your brake controller goes there.

The brown wire is a 16 gauge also. That's the breakaway input from the breakaway switch attaches there. Then the purple or the violet as they call it is a 14 gauge size. That's for 12 volt input or output between the unit and the breakaway battery. Again the specs on this, this is for hydraulic drum brakes systems. The hydraulic pressure on this is 1,000 PSI and one last note is the vehicle must be wired with an in-cab electric brake controller for this to work.

We do sell those separately on our website. That should do it for the review on the Titan BrakeRite EHP electric hydraulic actuator for drum brakes.

The brake controller pump is adequate however it is not a very good way to make brakes work on a trailer. It has nothing to do with your service or your quick shipment of that part. You're supplying the part and getting it to me was excellent as well as the service from the lady that took my order she did a great job. 597581

Review from a similar Titan BrakeRite EHB in Brake Actuator

The products were ordered on Sunday night late, delivered by Wednesday. Converting drum surge brakes to disc, electric over hydraulic on a boat trailer for 26ft Sea Ray boat. I had everything including Titan brake actuator, 4 kodiac rotor and caliper conversion kits with bearings, and new lines installed by Thursday evening. Installation was straight forward, everything fit perfectly. One of the calipers was malfunctioning (not releasing). I called customer service and I had a new one within two days, it's now installed and working great!! Great product! Awesome service!! Stops better than any other trailer brakes I have ever experienced. 338160

Bolted right on. It was half day job installing this unit with my entire brake job ripping the old drums off and installing Discs, this unit is fantastic and works flawlessly. Sometimes I show off the effectiveness of the EOH system with the disc brakes to my friends. I have a 7,700lb boat and I'll only use my brake controller instead of my brake pedal going down steep hills. the trailer brakes quickly and effectively slow the GMC Yukon and boat by themselves with no vehicle brakes. I've attached photos of a few phases of the install as well as the entire vehicle to see what I'm talking about. This unit is very responsive and very effective, the greatest advantage if EOH systems is braking going backwards. It is awesome for launching the boat. Enjoy! 284060

Review from a similar Titan BrakeRite EHB in Brake Actuator

I put disc brakes on my 38 foot 5th wheel travel trailer due to the poor brake quality of the manufacturer. I now drive on the highway with much greater confidence for our safety. The stopping power of these brakes is incredible. The quality of the brakes are superior. I installed them myself finding the instructions accurate and easy to follow. There was a small part missing out of the brake line kit and the part was overnited to me by E Trailer. I have purchased many items from this company and have found the products to be of top quality and fairly priced. The customer service is outstanding. Thank you. 306849

Is it normal for this brakerite actuator to have had brake fluid(not much but fluid is present) iin it? 575566

Comments

It is indeed! Titan bench tests each and every actuator before its shipped, so its perfectly normal for there to be a residual amount of brake fluid still in it.

This EHB was a little trouble putting in as the template for the holes was xeroxed so many time the holes were /4 inch off. So I had to fill in three holes in my chassis floor. Once nstalled and the brakes bled, it worked like a charm. Definitely much greater stopping power. 211364

  • Comparing the HydraStar Hydraulic Actuator and the Titan BrakeRite Hydraulic Actuator
  • It looks like you have certainly done your research in regards to the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator and the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator. Unfortunately, we do not exactly do extensive testing on either actuator therefore our knowledge comes from the manufacture and the reviews our customers submit on them. In regards to the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator you only have two options which is part # T4822500 (1,000 psi) if you have drum brakes...

  • Tekonsha Trailer Brake Controller Compatible with BrakeRite EOH Actuator
  • Not all trailer brake controllers will operate properly with an electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) trailer brake actuator such as the Titan BrakeRight # T4822500. Some factory controllers will function correctly if an adapter is used, an item such as # T4846000 or # T4845900, but these do not work for all model years of factory controller. Both of these adapters are for 2006.5 - 2012 Ford trucks. The OEM controller in your 2005 F-350 may not operate correctly with EOH brakes even with the...

  • The issue you are having with the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator part # T4813100 or part # T4822500 is attributed to the lack of power on the 12 volt wire for the 7-way trailer connector. This is what powers the unit so if you don't have 12 volts here then the unit will not function properly. The 2017 Ford F-350 may only send power to the 12 volt power wire on the 7-way trailer connector when the vehicle is in drive therefore it would be best to bypass the 12 volt...
