Carpet Diagram

Note: This 11" wide carpeting is designed for use on 2x4 and 2x6 boards. If you use this on your 2x6 bunk boards, some of the board will be exposed on the underside.

Protect Your Boat's Hull

Over time, the carpeting that covers your bunk boards can wear down or even tear apart. This can lead to scratches on your boat's hull. Replacing the carpeting periodically ensures protection for your boat, and it will also prevent your wooden bunk boards from rotting.

Replacing Bunk Board Carpeting

To get started, remove the old carpet from your bunk boards, doing your best to remove any old staples and bolts from the boards as well.

Cut the carpet to the appropriate length and lay it down so that the backing is facing up, then place your bunk board on top. Make sure that there's enough extra carpet to wrap around the sides and ends of the board. Then wrap the carpet around one side and staple it in place.

Once you're done with the first side, tightly pull the carpet around the opposite edge of the board and secure it with staples. Loose carpet can easily snag or tear, leaving the wooden board vulnerable to moisture or damage.

Once both sides are securely attached, tuck any extra carpet at the ends in tightly, like you're wrapping a package, and secure the ends to the board with staples.

Etrailer is my go to place for my trailer needs. High quality items at great prices. Just received my bunk carpet for my boat trailer and was well pleased with the quality of the product.
A shout out to Paul B.for helping me this week.
Thanks for your help Paul B. !!

Good product. Measures as advertised.

by:

Good material, fast shipping, good communication on my order status. Made easy work updating my fishing boat trailer with new treated wood bunks, covered nicely with this marine grade material. Slight overlap on 2x4 bunks, but secures well for a nice fit.

by:

Great service, easy to install, quality of product excellent.

by:

As advertised and received on time. Thank you

by:

I just replaced the bunk boards on my 1993 boat trailer and applied the deluxe carpeting to the new wood. The old boards had rotted and the lag bolts had rusted and fallen out. I replaced the boards with new, pressure-treated 2x4s. The carpet was easy to work with and is quite slippery which should help with loading the boat onto the trailer. The only drawback was that the roll of carpet is 11 inches wide and I had to cut it down to 10 inches because the bunk boards are 2x4s and the carpet edges overlapped when I wrapped it around the boards.

by:

Great quality, fit to spec

by:

I finally was able to make the modification to my boat trailer and the bunk carpet worked perfectly. The job looks professional and it works GREAT! Thanks for your expert advise and great service.

by:

After 11 years in saltwater my bunk boards needed replacement. The carpet from e-trailer was just right. Easy ordering, fast delivery and a good price. I always check out e-trailer first when I need parts.

by:

by:

My first install and it was flawless. Researched etrailer videos for advice and made it happen. I'm very happy with the product. Looks great and my boat loads and unloads well (18' deckliner).

I did a total rebuild of my boat trailer. I ordered nearly all of the parts from etrailer. New carpet for the bunks new brakes and backing plates as well as a new brake actuator. New wheel bearings and seals. This trailer is old a 1974 but all of the parts fit I was satisfied with all of the products I received and the timely manner in which they were delivered to my door I am very happy with the fine service I received a t trailer and the help and selecting the right parts thank you very much etrailer.

by:

The items mentioned are still working well. I have been so pleased with my etrailer purchases that we bought 4 new tires and rims from you this spring. Paid less for 4 tires and rims than the local dealer wanted for two tires, no rims.

by:

looks good anyway, haven't put it on ye t.

by:

New bunk risers are in as is the new bunk and carpet. The reminder here is to check the bolts securing the bunks. The bunks came loose out at the Colorado river north of Yuma so had to jimmy rig the boat to the trailer on the way home to San Diego. Oh, and it was well over 100 degrees on the way home. No bueno! Everything good to go now.

by:

Easy to cut and attach to the 2x4 bunks I made for my trailer.

by:

I've used this bunk carpet in the past and will continue to do so.

by:

Just as it should be. Good quality, functions well

by:

Excellent product, installed on four buckboards in under two hours! Exactly what I needed!

by:

I installed CE Smith Deluxe Marine Grade Carpeting over new green treated 2x4s on my 2017 boat trailer a year ago. I am happy to say that the carpeting has held up extremely well. It still looks new to this day.

by:

Item was exactly as advertised. All were uniform length and width. Managed to recarpet our pontoon trailer bunks in only a couple of hours. And that’s first time ever doing that project!! Good service - good product.

by:

I haven’t installed yet but it looks to be very good quality.

by:

Great product! I've replaced my bunks several times over the years with carpet from the big box stores. Always lasts about 2 years, primarily because of wear where the boat slides onto the end of the bunks at the rear of the trailer. This time I decided to try a product that was actually designed for trailer bunks. One year later and my bunks still look great! For just a few dollars more I'm expecting these to last many years. We keep our 24' bow rider in dry storage so we trailer it after every use (weekly in season) and it's gets a lot of wear and tear. We are very happy with this purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking to replace their trailer bunks!

by:

Now I just received the package today so I can’t attest to the durability of the carpet but the orderwashandled quickly and certainly looks like it will do the trick. Now I just need to find the time to install it.

by:

Always a pleasure doing business with e trailer!

  • Recommended Carpet Width for Bunk Boards Measuring 2 Inches X 6 Inches
For 2 x 6 bunks you'll want the 18-inch width carpet # CE11349 in order to have full wrap-around coverage without exposed wood. As for wood, using treated could extend the life of the your bunk boards, but you will be also looking a higher cost then using untreated wood.

  • 10 Foot Long Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailer
I can certainly understand not wanting to have to connect 2 five-foot carpeted bunk rails like # CE27820 to get the 10 foot bunks you need. We don't offer them in the 10' length because the shipping costs would be more expensive than the bunks themselves. If you're a DIY kind of person, you can pretty easily make your own bunk boards using 2" x 4" or 2" x 6" pressure-treated lumber and CE Smith Marine Grade Carpeting like # CE11350. Most hardware stores will cut the boards to the length...

  • How Many Staples Do I Need to Install the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting?
You will want to use 1/2" stainless steel staples every 2 to 3" to install the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting item # CE11372. Make sure you only put staples on the back side of the bunks where they won't touch the boat hull.

  • Availability of 9-1/2 Foot Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailer
No worries, you can easily construct some bunks yourself. Go to your local lumberyard and get some treated yellow pine 2x4x10 boards. You can then purchase some of the marine-grade carpet we offer, like part # CE11372. You'll need one roll per bunk, which means you'll have some scrap left over, but if you're anything like me you'll find a use for the scrap. You can use carpet adhesive to attach the carpet to the bunks, but two years ago when I re-did the bunks on my PWC trailer I used...

  • Trailer Bunk Carpet for 14 ft long 2x4 Bunk Boards
To make your own bunk boards, pressure treated pine has long proven to be the best kind of treated wood to use because it holds up well and it is strong enough to support a boat. To wrap around the 14 ft long 2 x 4 bunk boards (actually 1.5 x 3.5), you'll need carpet that is around 14-1/2 ft long and just over 10 inches wide. Our closest option is going to be the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting # CE11349. I've linked an installation video for you to check out at the bottom of the page.

  • Can Bunk Boards Be Built Using Pressure Treated Lumber
You certainly could make your own bunk boards using pressure treated lumber and bunk carpet like # CE11372 if you wish. CE Smith doesn't use pressure treated lumber in their bunk boards because some of the chemicals used to pressure treat the lumber could leach into the water.

We have some bunk boards and brackets that you could use for your pontoon boat trailer. I have included a link to the bunk boards for you. Most of the them do not come with brackets, with the exception of # CE27850, but we have numerous bracket options as well. We also have bunk style guide-ons for pontoon boat trailers, # CE27671, if you are looking for something like that. For bunk brackets we have CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies - Galvanized Steel - 9" - Qty 4 Item #...

  • Can Pressure Treated Bunk Boards Damage Boat Pontoons
I've never had any bleed through that damaged the hulls of my PWC's but for pontoons (presumably stainless) there is some concern. The CCA used to pressure treat wood several years ago was very corrosive to stainless steel, from what I read the ACQ that's now used is nowhere near as corrosive, but could still cause some problems. In the forums, I saw that several folks have used non-pressure treated lumber like southern yellow pine with good results and durability, if I were in your place,...

  • Best Type of Staples to Use for Attaching Boat Trailer Bunk Board Carpet CE11372
Yes, you can use stainless steel (heavy-duty) staples to attach boat trailer bunk board carpet like CE Smith # CE11372 to pressure treated wood. You can also use hot-dipped galvanized staples. Either type is fine for use with treated lumber.

  • Installing CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards CE11372
I do not recommend using glue; instead, you should use staples to install the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards - Charcoal - 12' Long x 11" Wide # CE11372. You'll want to use staples to ensure the # CE11372 is always tight against the boards as glue may not be enough to keep it taut, and that can mean the carpet can possibly tear.

  • Correct Size Carpet for 2x4 Bunk Boards on Boat Trailer
The 11" CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards like part # CE11350 for blue, part # CE11330 for black, or part # CE11372 for charcoal is recommended for 2x4 bunk boards. It should not overlap but you will need to trim for the correct length.

  • Recommended Staple Size for Bunk Board Carpet
We typically try to use 1/2 inch stainless steel staples when we install the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting, # CE11372, but 3/8 inch staples will work too. I would not go much shorter than the 3/8 inch staples because you don't want them to work their way out over time. I strongly recommend using stainless steel staples if possible. They will last much longer because they provide the best rust resistance.

  • How to Install CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting # CE11372 on Wooden Boat Trailer Bunks
I recommend using a combination of non-water-soluble glue and staples to install the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting # CE11372. You can use the staples only on the back side of the bunks - where it does NOT touch the boat hull. Glue should be applied on the entire back surface of the carpet and then to hold it in place while the glue sets you can install staples. If you want to skip the glue then this is permissible. We do not sell glue or staples but your local hardware store will...

  • Is The CE Smith Bunk Carpet Available In Rolls Larger Than 12 Feet Long?
Hey Lonnie, so we do offer a larger roll with part # CE11373 which is an 18' long 18" wide grey bunk carpet. If you are wanting to stick with the 11" wide carpet, I am afraid the 12' long roll # CE11372 is going to be the longest roll we offer. You will just need to get multiple rolls for multiple bunks.

We have a roll that is 12' long and 11" wide in a variety of colors that will cover the 9' boards you need. • Backing Material and Weight of CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting
I went out to the warehouse to inspect a roll of the bunk carpet # CE11372. The back material is the same as the front but whereas the front is more fluffy, for lack of a better term, the back is matted. The shipping weight is 2 pounds. The actual weight will be slightly less than that since the packing for this product is very light. As far as a weight or Mil rating it doesn't have one; only that it is marine grade.
