Bolster-and-swivel-bracket assemblies are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. They allow a mounted bunk board, which runs from the front of the trailer to the back, to tilt to accommodate and support boat hulls of different sizes. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.

Galvanized Steel

Steel parts are galvanized by being hot-dipped in zinc after they have been stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

  • Recommended Placement of Bunk Boards on Bayliner Capri 1950
After completing a very thorough image search online, it appears that the most common bunk placement is about 2/3 of the way between the keel and the ridge that runs along the side of the hull. Rather than on end, most of the bunks I saw had the board meeting the hull on the flat. This disperses more of the weight of the boat along the bunk. The # CE27820 bunk boards you mentioned would be perfect. I'd also recommend using # CE10001G-4 bunk brackets and # CE15283GA-4 Galvanized u-bolts.

  • Centering Boat On Trailer With Wobble Rollers
The keel roller will help to center your boat as the wobble rollers you have allow the boat to sit slightly to one side or the other. We do offer the CE Smith Keel Roller # CE29505 which has a self centering design to help guide your boat to the center of the trailer. It is also a non-marring PVC construction which is more durable than the rubber rollers you have. We also have the Ark Ezi-Guides Self-Aligning Boat Trailer Loading System # AR84FR which is designed for power boats from...

  • Weight Capacity And Parts Needed For Modifying Boat Trailer For 26 Ft Regal Commodore
I spoke with my contact at CE Smith, and they said the Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assembly for Boat Trailers, part # CE10000G, do not bear the weight of the boat. The U-bolt that attaches the brackets to the trailer frame support the weight of the boat. There should be a bracket attached to each cross member of the trailer frame. If you are buying several brackets, I would recommend part # CE10000G-4. This is a set of 4 of the 9 inch adjustable brackets. If you need longer adjustable brackets...

  • What is the Weight Capacity of CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies - Galvanized Steel - 11" - Qty 4 # CE10001G-4 do not have a weight capacity, and are dependent on the U-bolts to hold the weight. With 2 U-bolts per bolster-and-swivel bracket assembly, and 12 total holding the bunks for your boat, you will not have a problem as long as your boat is not exceeding the capacity of your boat trailer. You can certainly add a keel support if you would like additional support for your boat, but it will not...

  • Converting Boat Trailer From Rollers to Bunk Boards
For the bunks I recommend using two sets of the 5' CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards # CE27820, or you'd like to get your own wooden boards you can wrap them in Marine-Grade Carpeting # CE11349. To install the boards, you will need a pair of Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10001G-4 per board, which are 11", as well as a pair of U-Bolt Kits # CE15283GA-4. I've added links to video reviews of these parts for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended U-Bolts, Rollers and Boat Trailer Lighting/Wiring for a 1984 Shoreline Trailer
Thanks for sending us the pictures! Since you are installing a Bolster-and-swivel-bracket assembly part # CE10001G-4 and need a 4-1/8 inch width by 3-1/2 or 4-inch length U-bolt, we currently don't offer a close match. I would recommend going to a local hardware store to locate a U-bolt with the dimensions you need. I would go with a stainless steel u-bolt because it is corrosion resistant and ideal for marine applications. For the lighting and wiring on your 1984 Shoreline boat trailer,...

  • Determining Trailer Bunk Board Length for 14 Foot Sailboat
It's not an exact science but typically you want the bunk boards on a trailer to extend all the way to the rear of the boat. It wouldn't hurt to have them go a bit beyond this too to ensure proper support during travel. Since the front of the boat should be supported by the bow stop you usually see bunk boards that measure about half the length of the boat itself. Since you no longer have the boards that originally came on your trailer it might also be a good idea to try and contact the...

  • Does CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies Have Weight Rating
Bolster and swivel brackets like the CE Smith # CE10001G-4 that you referenced actually don't have a weight limit as the manufacturers don't test them that way. All of the boat trailer bolster brackets we carry such as # CE10001G-4 are strong enough for general use so they do not carry specific weight ratings. These particular brackets are beefy 11-gauge galvanized steel. For bunks we offer carpeted lengths up to 6-feet. For your 20-foot boat four 5-foot bunks # CE27820 should do the trick. Keep in mind that if the trailer currently has roller bunks like # DL21741 switching to carpeted bunks will increase the drag/load on the trailer winch. You...

I can definitely help you figure out what bunk boards to use, but I think with a little adjustment we can get your boat to load much easier with your current setup.
