Question:
I would like to convert my load rite roller trailer to bunks. I have a 20 ft proline center console that weighs approx 2000 lbs loaded. Would these be strong enough to use? I can not find any weight ratings on any of the bunk brackets. CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies - Galvanized Steel - 11inch - Qty 4 Item # CE10001G-4 Thanks

Expert Reply:
All of the boat trailer bolster brackets we carry such as # CE10001G-4 are strong enough for general use so they do not carry specific weight ratings. These particular brackets are beefy 11-gauge galvanized steel.
For bunks we offer carpeted lengths up to 6-feet. For your 20-foot boat four 5-foot bunks # CE27820 should do the trick.
Keep in mind that if the trailer currently has roller bunks like # DL21741 switching to carpeted bunks will increase the drag/load on the trailer winch. You may want to consider upgrading the winch too since by using carpeted bunks instead of roller bunks you will be asking it to work a lot harder. Two articles on winches are included for your reference.
