by:

Arrived without battery, product description is very miss leading calling this item a "KIT". with a .5 amp battery charger. No where in the product description did I find a disclaimer stating "Battery sold separately". Contacted etrailer had to purchase the break away kit with battery and now awaiting a prepaid return slip that needs to be approved by a higher level employee. Kind of ridiculous.

by:

Bought as a replacement and it fit perfectly. Wiring connected easily with plenty of length to spare. I highly recommend this product if it fits your purpose.

  • Parts Needed To Add Electric Drum Brakes To A Pontoon Trailer
Hey Jeremy, Typically with boat trailers the manufacturer will install hydraulic surge brakes because you don't have to worry about the water damaging wires like you would with electric brakes. That being said, if you use a heat shrink butt connector # DW05745-10 you'll be able to protect your electrical connections and shouldn't have a problem. To add brakes you'll need to check the axle/spindle to see if you have a brake mounting flange. If you don't then you'll have to buy new axles...

  • Why Does the Charge Light Stay on the Trailer Breakaway Kit 3802336 After the 7-Way is Disconnected?
Hey Shane. The light on the Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit item # 3802336 staying on after you unplug the 7-way means it's still drawing power. Most likely from your trailer's battery. If it's connected to a solar setup it'll draw power from there too. Is your Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit item # 3802336 connected to your trailer's battery? You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

  • I Am Looking For A Breakaway Kit With A Solar Battery Charger, Is This A Thing?
Hey Robyn, You can definitely add a solar charger to your breakaway kit, but there is not one that we carry that has a solar charger included. I would recommend going with the Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802336, which comes with a trickle charger already but only when you are plugged into the vehicle. What you can do with that is pair it with this solar battery charger, # PTW2997, that will simply mount next to or near the breakaway kit and charge it through solar. What kind...

  • Is There Small Battery That Could be Used for Trailer Wiring that Runs Up to Battery
Hey Erik, unofficially I have a solution for that with the Bright Way Trailer Breakaway kit part # 3802336. This is a pretty small battery in a box you could run your converter box to instead of all the way up to the vehicle battery but I have to emphasize this is not recommended and you'd run chance of killing the battery and not having trailer taillights.

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2004 Toyota Tundra w/ a Factory Towable Bumper
Yes, it will so long as you do not have a factory hitch installed. The etrailer Hitch item # e87KR is compatible with the 2004 Toyota Tundra's with the factory towable bumper. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver, that has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity and a maximum tongue weight of 500 lbs. It'll look like the picture below when it is installed. What do you plan on using a hitch for? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred...

  • Does Wiring Up Trailer for Winch and Lights Require Relays
You can use just a switch and not have to worry about adding relays. It would require you to use a heavier gauge wire for the battery like 10 gauge part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot.

  • How Does Trailer Breakaway Battery Wire to Trailer with Aux Battery
Basically you'll be wiring the 12 volt accessory circuit you have now that is charging the current battery also to the breakaway battery so that the charge circuit charges both batteries. Aside from that you'd wire up the breakaway like the Bright Way part # 3802336 the same way as it was designed to be wired. I attached a help article on trailer breakaway systems for you to check out as well.

  • What Info Is Needed to Add Brakes to Utility Trailer
Hey Morris, to determine what would be needed to add brakes to your trailer will come down to a few things. First we'd need to know the axle capacity of the trailer, it would need to have brake flanges on the spindles, and we'd need to know the wheel bolt pattern. I attached a help article that will walk you through this entire process. And then to allow the brakes to activate in the event of a disconnect you would need to have a breakaway kit installed like the # 3802336.

  • What Brake Assemblies and Hug/Drums Do You Recommend for My Axis 3500 Axle?
In order to know exactly what brakes/hub + drums you need, we need to know how many lugs you have on your Axis axle, but we also need to know the distance between the lugs. The most common setup for a 5-lug axle is a 5 on 4-1/2 inch. I went ahead and attached an article on how to measure the lug spacing. For the 5 on 4-1/2 inch route, I recommend the following parts: - Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # 23-468-469 - etrailer...
