Question:
I have recently bought a small, 8x 5 open utility trailer. I would like to add electric brakes for emergency braking in case of an accidental disconnect. It has 12 wheels which I cannot upgrade to 13 due to fender clearance. Can you advise?

Hey Morris, to determine what would be needed to add brakes to your trailer will come down to a few things. First we'd need to know the axle capacity of the trailer, it would need to have brake flanges on the spindles, and we'd need to know the wheel bolt pattern. I attached a help article that will walk you through this entire process.
And then to allow the brakes to activate in the event of a disconnect you would need to have a breakaway kit installed like the # 3802336.
