Question:

Why does the charge indicator led stay on even after the trailer is unplugged from the tow vehicle. The kit is new and the battery is at 13.04. Thanks

Hey Shane. The light on the Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit item # 3802336 staying on after you unplug the 7-way means it's still drawing power. Most likely from your trailer's battery. If it's connected to a solar setup it'll draw power from there too.

Is your Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit item # 3802336 connected to your trailer's battery?

Its on a car hauler trailer with no AUX batteries at all. I'm getting power feedback up to my plug when its disconnected. I'm guessing there is no diode to keep this from happening. Is the built in charger shot? Without a diode that poor little battery is getting full amperage from the vehicle alternator. Not the .5-1 amp that it should be getting.

@Shane Yeah it's definitely shot then. If your truck's 7-way connector is the only power source it's time for a replacement.
