What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com Today, we're checking out this Leer Tonneau Cover and this is going to be a good, hard tonneau cover to help protect whatever's inside your bed. It's also makes your bed more secure, because with this on top of it, somebody can't get in there, your tailgate locks, people aren't going to get in to the inside of your bed. That's nice. This vehicle has a fifth wheel on the inside, so it's actually protecting that from the elements, when it's not in use. And if you do need to stack a little bit above your bed, or carry something that sticks out of the bed, it easily folds up and gets out of the way and secures where you can drive with it folded up.
Let's check it out. I said it was a hard tonneau cover. You can hear how tough it is. It's going to hold up to all those elements and it's not going to be an issue, you know compared to a soft style one, to where, if it snows that's going to weigh it down, even though it's got bars, usually in the middle that weight, that helps support it. It doesn't always help, or even rain puddles up and collects, its going to lower and stretch out your tonneau cover.
This one is gonna to hold it up to that. It's not going to cause any problems, that snow can sit up here. The rain is going to run right off of it. No issues. The other thing is security.
With the soft tonneau cover, you can kind of get a knife and slice right in there. If somebody wanted to, they could, even if your tailgate locks. This one it's a lot harder, it's not going to be easy to get in there. You're pretty much protected. With your locking tailgate, nobody's going to get to your stuff, that's in your bed.
The other thing I like about the cover, is how low profile it is. You don't think about that. Some of the other ones have that bigger foam strip, or the rails sit above the bed rails on your truck. This one's right in line with it and make sure you get the right one for your truck. If you look at the fit guide on our website, enter in the information, your vehicle, you'll find the tonneau cover that's right for you. So it's be just as low profile on your vehicle. And it really looks nice. It like blends in with the bed. Pretty much looks factory. I'm talking about how nice it looks, but that doesn't mean anything if it's hard to operate. So just open the tailgate and get right to it. On both sides, you kind of have these pinch levers here, that you just push them together and then you can lift up the first panel. And right away, that's pretty nice, 'cause it's not spring loaded. Some of the ones that are spring loaded, those are usually the soft cover, again, that I keep talkin' about. Those are so tight, that when you go to do this, it flips up immediately. So me keepin' my hand here, is not the greatest idea. I mean, it's, it's not going to hurt you. It's just, it's going to pop up. This one, you don't have that. You can just pinch this here, that easy to lift up that first cover. Now it works on the other side, just the same. So that's another thing, I've worked with some other ones where you can, it's just a cable or there's a button that you kind of have to reach and do both sides at the same time. And that's a pain. This one works way, same way on this side. So you'll need to pinch those two together to start folding. So whatever side you are on the cover you can get it to fold up. So once we've done that. You just fold it in, on its sections. It just rests on itself. It's very easy. And then you have another switch here, in the center, just like the one towards the end and you can do it either end, just pinch it together. Then it releases it up. One more here at the end, same thing, pinch 'em together, releases it on both sides. And you can tilt it up, like this. Once you get here, you actually have these prop rods. They fit in this catch here. And then you just put this end, over, this right here. The metal stud that's sticking out there, that's going to help hold it into place. And I'll come around on that side and do the same thing over there. Another thing I wanna point out. You can see these yellow straps. These safety straps are connected in here, so that even if it comes loose, somehow let's say, you've had it for on there for a bunch of years and you haven't checked it or tightened it or anything like that. 'Cause that's probably good to do once a year, is come back through and make sure it's nice and tight still This keeps it connected to your vehicle. You're not going to worry about this coming off while you're driving down the road. And with both these prop rods up, you can actually drive it like this too. So if you need this up and you're carrying some lumber that goes outside, extends outside the end of your bed, you can still do that with this cover. But you might not want to always go, with this leaned up against the back window, 'cause it does take up the entire back window. So we can set it down, back into place. And we have these clips. You can come around. Clip it in like that. That's going to hold this and keep it from flyin' up. You're gonna put one of these on each side of it and that's going to keep this down, so you can drive with it like this. You don't have to fully fold it all the way back out, when you want to go drive and you can use your back window at the same time. I think that's one of the good things about this cover though is that how many options you have when unfolding it. Sometimes those tonneau covers you really only have the option of foldin' up against your window. You can't see anything or it's closed, or sometimes they just tilt up and you don't get much out of it. This one has several different stages and it also locks, in three different places. So you've got the back, the middle and over there. So that way, you know, it's secure. It's not going to flop up on your, while you're driving down the road or anything like that. It's secure in many places, which means it's not going anywhere. Overall. I think it was a pretty easy installation. I've done quite a few different tonneau covers and you know sometimes, they do get a little difficult for no reason. This one seemed pretty easy. I liked the clamps a lot, the way they had that extra screw at the bottom, to kind of keep it straight, while you're tying it down was really helpful. Because with the cheaper tonneau covers, I always struggle with that part, tightening those where they don't have a lot of teeth on those clamps. So they'll kind of go like this as you try and tighten it down and it strips or something like that, while you're going. It's a huge pain, but this one didn't have that. That's pretty awesome. I like that. They keep it straight and it was easy installation. You know, I can't really say it was that hard. You just got to follow the instructions. Like you're watching me do it and you'll get it installed in no time. And it's nice and secure. I like the safety straps too. That way, if something wants to come loose somehow, it's going to keep that tonneau cover connected. It's not going to go anywhere. You won't have any issues. Well, I think that does it. I hope this helps. And thanks for hanging out..

I think overall the product is very good. The instructions are not very good and was difficult to figure out. I had to remove the rails and start over. I think there could be a little more margin of error built into it. I spent a long time trying to get it perfectly straight.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my son Quintin. He works in construction and I thought that this would help for his tools. We installed it together. It was easy to install. He has a F150. He says that it looks great and that he loves it. I know that it is only the day after Christmas but if he is satisfied with it then I am satisfied with it also. This is the second Tonneau cover that I have purchased from etrailer.com. This one for my son and one for my personal truck also. I am pleased with both of them. Thank you so much etrailer.com. We liked the videos also.
Package arrived undamaged. 3M foam pads didn’t cooperate, other than that installation was smooth.
They sent the wrong item initially and it was a pain sending it back. However they made good on their mistake and provided the correct item which has been great.
Fast shipping !! Excellent website !!
My Leer hard Tonneau cover fits perfectly!!
I have always thought highly of Leer products because they were made in USA but to my surprise and disappointment it was made in China. My fault I will research better in the future.
Great product but the installation instructions were not much help. Utube videos helped
This is the 2nd Leer Tonneau cover I have owned and am satisfied with the product. Like any product there are things that will fail like the plastic clips that hold the support arms in place. With the Florida sun and heat they breakdown over time and the exterior finish will start to fade in a couple of years. I would suggest cleaning it often with a UV protector cleaner like the marine grade 303. WIth this said, I would still recommend this product.
Easy to install, has really great features! Arrived in mint condition, fast shipping.
Just installed this tonneau cover. Quick shipping from etrailer. Ordered Tuesday evening and arrived Thursday. The etrailer installation video was excellent - very helpful. The Leer instructions and installation video were lacking - in fact the video was from an earlier version of this cover. That’s the reason for just 4 stars. One thing I did was before tightening down the cover itself is I unfolded the cover and checked to make sure the fore/aft position was good. In particular I was wanting to be sure the cover’s tailgate seal was firm against the tailgate to insure no water / snow entry. Leakage past the tailgate had been mentioned in a couple of reviews so I was wanting to insure that seal was going to do its job.
Overall the cover looks great. I like the pinch release for releasing the cover latches I know folks with covers that just have the cable you pull that were broken into by sliding a hook rod in and pulling the cable. I also like that there are latches on 3 of the 4 sections - makes it harder to pry up the cover. Installation was easy thanks to the etrailer video. I’ll update this review after I see how well this cover performs over time.
Chose this cover for its 4 panels (not 3). Does not cover the cab light bar/camera when vertical. Plenty of room with bikes hooked over tailgate when horizontal. Solidly made. Have not driven it through the car wash to check waterproofness.
Just installed this a few days ago on my 2026 Sierra. So far I am happy. It seems well made and looks nice. I like the quad fold and the fact that you can fold it completely up and out of the bed if you need to. We had very hard rain the day after I installed it and a very small amount of water got in. But not very much at all given the storm we had. I am going to continue to try to add more sealer (included with the cover) at the front corners to see if I can improve the "water proofing" even more. My only complaint at all would be the instructions. The paper instructions that come with the cover are a joke. The video on E-trailer was much more helpful. Though it was a different year truck and different clamps and some small things about the cover had changed, so the video was not perfect. But a big help. The paper instructions that come with it are not helpful at all. But once I figured it all out it went on fine and looks great!
Awesome product! I easily installed it by myself in about an hour. As waterproof as can be given the gaps of the tailgate. Very quiet at highway speeds.
Fit perfectly on my 2024 Cherolet 2500 HD.
No water gets in the bed. Heavy enough thst I can stack things on top of it if necessary. I highly recommend this cover.
Perfect fit on 2025 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x Crew Cab short bed. Installation should have been easy, and is probably a breeze after you’ve successfully done it once, but ended up being a several hour process due ENTIRELY to the atrociously unclear “official” LEER instructions. And this was after watching several YouTube installation videos. The video from LEER is hopelessly out of date and shows different clamps. There is NO front bulkhead seal and does not appear to need one. The instructions omit any no mention of the roll of sticky black putty, which is apparently to seal any small gaps remaining at left and right front corners of bed after completing installation. I had to use a little on each of the front corners (you can see gaps from inside the bed based on light penetrating and putty those up). Alignment of rails was spot-on. Clamps come with METAL SHIMS already pre-installed. MADE IN CHINA. Excellent fast shipping from eTrailer (ordered Tuesday evening, received Friday morning).
Superb quality and the quad-fold design on 2026 Chevy Silverado truck does not cover the rear facing camera when folded against the cab. Full-bed access on a short bed truck is critical, and this LEER design hits all the cylinders!
Fantastic cover. I bought another name brand for my previous truck. It was a high end name brand and worked really well but this Leer is better. I like the way you can still see the third row brake light (it’s four panel vise three so it’s shorter when folded all the way up), I also think this one is more water tight compared to my last one. I also like the unlatching mechanism better. I honestly believe it’s the front running for a hard cover short of the very very high end aluminum ones that sit above the rim of the bed. But this one will hold 450 lbs and sits flush. Won’t disappoint.
This is my second Leer tonneau cover so I was familiar with the installation process. The instructions are adequate but less than ideal. This one fit better and latches more securely than my the previous one. A few extra minutes spent getting it square both left and right and front to back is worth the effort. This cover looks great and functions well. My installation time working alone and taking my time was about 2.5 hours.
After the delivery of the leer tonneau cover, I was able to install without any issues. After the installation however, I noticed there was a rattling sound vibrating within the panels of the cover. I will be investigating further to identify what the noise is and of course contacting etrailer.
Install was easy fits great.
Installation instructions could be a little better also the latches are noisy when on rough roads.
The product itself is excellent.
The instructions leave much to be desired.
Just know, the lip on the rails need to go on top of the truck bed rail.
The large clamps that hold the cover down towards the back of the bed, go into the rail itself. Use the large lip of the clamp (not the small one). If you stick the large lip into the rail it will sit level like it is supposed to.
Before you clamp it down, make sure you roll it all the way out, check to make sure that when your truck tailgate closes there isn't a gap, make sure the locks catch on both sides of the bed in each section that locks down, and make sure the seals are all flattened out (including the seal at the front of the bed under the topper).
Squeeze latches work great, I recommend this product.
