Question:
I wanted to confirm if drilling is required for this cover for a 1998 Chevy C1500 STEPSIDE - there is no rail lip on these trucks to clamp to, only holes with existing bolts. Pace Edwards Full-Metal JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover - Aluminum - Black Part Number: 311-FMC2576

For the 1998 Chevy C1500 Stepside, drilling is not required to install the Pace Edwards Full-Metal JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-FMC2576.
On Stepside models, the cover uses the factory stake pocket/bed rail mounting locations and existing hardware, rather than clamping to a bed rail lip. The existing bolts in your bed rails are removed and the mounting brackets are installed using those factory attachment points.
Is your truck completely stock or does it have a bed liner or bed rail caps installed?

Thank you. It has a spray on bedliner and no stake pocket covers.
