Features to know about

Confident Driving on Snowy Roads: Diamond Pattern Keeps You Moving

When the roads are covered in snow or light ice, these Konig chains dig in and keep traction steady. The diamond pattern spreads the grip across more of the tire for consistent contact, so you feel stable on hills and packed snow instead of slipping or spinning. The square link design bites into the surface evenly, giving you reliable control without the bumpiness of traditional ladder-style chains.

No Hassle After Installation: Self-Tensioning System Does the Work

Once you’ve connected the Konig chains, you can drive away knowing they’ll automatically center and tighten as you roll. There’s no need to stop and adjust. The self-tensioning feature keeps the fit secure and snug even as snow builds up, so you can stay warm inside the car instead of getting back out to recheck.

Step showing tensioning chain being threaded through the large clip and secured to the red hook at the bottom of the tire.

Smooth Ride in Tight Spaces: Class S Design for Limited Clearance

If your vehicle has limited wheel-well space, these chains fit right in. They meet SAE Class S standards with only 3/8" internal clearance required, giving you the safety of chains without interference or rubbing. Their low-profile links help maintain a comfortable ride, even on long stretches of plowed or mixed snow-covered pavement.

Built to Last Through Winter: Manganese Nickel Alloy Steel Resists Wear

Each link is made from high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel, a material known for strength and corrosion resistance. The nylon bumpers and powder-coated side chain protect against scratches and rust, while plastic-coated hooks save your fingers from the cold. With the included durable storage container and kneeling mat, you’ll be ready for snowy drives season after season.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Great product. Great company. Great service. Have bought quite a few things from them over the years and would not hesitate to do so again.

by:

Have only had I use em once but they worked great! Pretty easy to attach. Pulled us through the white stuff with ease. Living in Colorado I’m sure we’ll need them again, And I have a no worries knowing these are with me.

by:

I have not had the opportunity to use them yet.

by:

Fast delivery. Heavy duty. Can’t wait to try it.

by:

Great customer service, easy size guide. Great selection.

by:

Fast shipping, and when I tested the chains, they were super easy to install and worked as expected. Thank you so much!

by:

Quite the pain to untangle the chains each time. Overall quality appears decent, but the use of some plastic in the construction of the chains will need to be tested once used on the road. Install and removal simple enough. Cheap "gloves" and "kneeling pad" are included. Probably toss them, as they are rather useless - made of very thin plastic like a trash bag.

The chains I had originally ordered were out of stock, but they called me to let me know and we found a very similar alternative, that even saved me a bit of money. Overall very friendly and helpful! The chains showed up quickly and in good condition. They fit perfectly on my Crossfire!

by:

an exceptional customer service: processing, shipping follow-up, product tutorial.

Prompt shipping, item as advertised. Haven't tried them on yet

by:

Great product w//expedited shipping!

by:

Just received the tire chains. I have not had a chance to fit them to the car yet. Shipping was on time. So far, no issues.

by:

The chains were very easy to install - particularly for a first-time user. My wife and I were able to quickly understand the installation process. The chains do tend to get tangled during storage and presents the biggest challenge. But once untangled, you can install both sides in just a couple of minutes.

Now we wait for an opportunity to use them....

by:

I have not had the opportunity test/ try the product. My only review at this point is the product shipped very quickly and was well packaged. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the product is in a carrying case. No more loose chains spreading all over the cargo area. The weather should be nice this weekend so I hope the product goes on as easily as seen in videos.

by:

Other than the tangling issue reported by other users, these chains are a breeze to install. Well worth what they cost. etrailer has the best price and quick shipping. Very pleased with purchase.

by:

These fit fine on stock-size tires, and ran pretty smoothly on snow covered roads. Other than the untangling issue other reviews mention, these chains are pretty easy to put on. My initial install was in the snow. Initial side took several minutes to put on, but once figured out, other side went on much quicker.

by:

good product but beware dmw owners. you can get these on but it's a tight fit. there's not much room to get your hands in between the tire and the wheel well. i did it in sunny conditions and it was not easy. in snow and cold all the much harder. the chains are a solid product. shipping took a couple days longer than expected so order early. i hope i don't need to use these but at least i have them if needed. btw 2014 428i

by:

Quick shipping and excellent customer service from the crew at eTrailer. I'd definitely buy from them again.

These chains work great and are easy to install. They remove easily too; I'm expecting the lack of the quick releases and other tricked out features to be a feature in itself due to reliability. Recommended.

by:

We put the chains on the tires, but have not used them yet.

Very easy to put on. The instructions aren't very good relative to the cable that goes on the rear of the tire. The key is the cable is put on behind the tire, not around the outside of the tire. By holding the two ends of the cable at the top back of the tire, you can easily connect the two and hook up the other chain connections.

No issues removing them either. It does help to have the tire in the same orientation, which is easy by using the large red connector as focus. Doesn't have to be exact, but you may have to move the car because part of the chain may still be under tire.

by:

Easy on after untangling. Safely up the mountain with no problem. Easy off. Found that individually bagging each chainset reduced tangling and eased storage in the provided carrying case. Hope this helps. Thanks etrailer.com for being there.

  • Can Tire Chains Be Used On a 2015/2016 Subaru Forester or 2017 Subaru Outback?
The Thule Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains, # TH2004205104, will give you enough clearance because they will adjust tension and not just have slack in the chain. If you are concerned about the seeming contradicting information, you could go with a cable chain like Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, # PW1042. With these style chains, spring rollers are wrapped around sturdy wire cross cables. With this product, Rubber Adjusters like # PW100 are recommended. In the Owner's Manual...

Hey Andy, The Thule/Konig brand is top-of-the-line so in regards to best, Thule wins hands-down when it comes to quality and ease of use. I'm not seeing that Titan Chain has a self-tensioning diamond pattern chain so you'll want to pick up the Konig Tire Chains # TH2004205104 for your application. Be sure to check for any specific instructions in your owner's manual in regard to tire chain usage.

For a premium option, I recommend taking a look at the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains part # TH2004205104. The Konig tire chains will work well in both snow and ice. Both the Thule snow chains # TH2004205104 and # TH01221104 are Class S compatible so they will work in that regard. The S rating means they have a very low amount of clearance required to clear you steering and suspension components on your vehicle. I am not sure why one is listed as off-and on-road while the other is only on-road. Both chains use the same D link style of chain that would work well for you in either situation.
