Snow Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan

Question:

Not sure what chains to buy for my 2009 Tiguan. Tire size 235R50 18. Thanks

The first thing you will want to do is consult the vehicle owners manual for any recommendations or restrictions on tire chain use. Some vehicles need a specific Class of chains.

For the 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan, if your owners manual states you can use chains, I recommend the Thule CG9 Pro Chains, # TH2004205104. These are the proper sized chain for an SUV with 235/50R18 tires.

The chains are easy to install and will tighten themselves as you drive. These chains require 12 mm of clearance around the tire. I have included a link to a video review and a link to our FAQ articles on chains for you.
