These chains are built for anyone who’s done crawling around in slush or fumbling with frozen connectors. Just drape them over the tire and step on the center pedal—the system tightens itself without needing extra tools or tensioners. The automatic self-tensioning design finishes snugging up after one full wheel rotation, so you can get back behind the wheel fast and stay moving when the snow is coming down.

The diamond-pattern layout and small square links work together to maintain constant contact with the road, giving you smooth traction through deep snow or light ice. The smaller link size also means a less bumpy ride compared to standard ladder chains. Whether you’re climbing a slick driveway or packing down fresh powder, these chains dig in evenly across the tread for solid grip and control.
These chains take care of your wheels while taking on the snow. A soft-touch liner on the back of the tension bar, nylon bumpers, and a powder-coated side chain protect your rims from scratches and scuffs. Even the external release system is designed so you can remove the chains quickly without scraping against the wheel.
If your car doesn’t leave much space between the tire and the fender, these chains are made to fit. They meet SAE Class S clearance standards, needing only 3/8" of internal clearance. That low-profile design keeps everything moving freely inside limited wheel wells while still delivering full traction performance.
Handmade from hardened manganese nickel alloy steel, these chains are built to resist wear and corrosion through years of winter use. The aluminum tensioning element won’t rust, and every link is designed for strength under pressure. Each set includes two chains for tires from 14" to 18" and comes with a durable nylon storage bag that doubles as a kneeling mat when you’re gearing up.

These chains fit the following tire sizes:

These chains will be a solid choice for moderate snow and ice. They will not work as well as a heavier chain for heavy snow however they only require 10 mm of clearance to install. They are designed to securely stay on the tire. I recommend viewing our video install on a 2019 Toyota Highlander.

Due to the lack of snow in our area, I have only used them one other time so far. But I’m still really glad we have them and everything in my review I still agree with.

Going on the 2nd winter of my 4th set now. I use the CU-9s during and after snow storms on the rural roads where I live. I take them off when encountering roads with little to no snow. Cant drive with these on bare pavement. I have to use my CU-9s in snow thats only 2 to 3 in. deep. I drive a small two-seater w rear-wheel drive that hasnt much traction even with best of snow tires. With the CU-9s, however that all changes. Ive driven up icy hills passing other vehicles that couldnt make it.

Maybe I was overexuberant... Second use, Up steep driveway again, spun tires at the top and VOILA! the chains came off. So easy on, easy off...Reviewed order w customer service, who says I ordered wrong chains. Website is ambiguous, stating no, no fit, and just below, in ordering based on exact tire specs, yes will fit. So beware. Check reviews for a real history of use, not just first impressions. Not even sure Id give the product 3 stars now, 1 year out.
