Question:

We have a 2013 Toyota sienna with a hitch reciever that we ordered from e trailer. It is always very low and sometimes scrapes. When we tow our small box trailer the sag is very bad. What do you recommend to level the van? We have looked at the air bags and the coil spring additional. Can we use both? Is one better that the other?

There are a few options to help reduce the sag on your 2013 Toyota Sienna when pulling a trailer. I recommend Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs - Rear Item # AL60732. These are air bags that fit inside your factory coils. Instillation is fairly simple. The air spring can be adjusted to a maximum of 35 psi and a minimum of 5 psi with a load leveling capacity of 1000 lbs. You can adjust the air pressure in the bag depending on the weight to bring the back of the vehicle up.

You also have the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Item # TTORSEN04. These are a hollow rubber jounce bumper that install inside your factory spring. As the weight is put on the back of the vehicle the jounce bumper hits a plate that is installed on the bottom. This supports the weight by not allowing your spring to completely compress thus keeping the back of the vehicle from bottoming out. Keep in mind the instillation is more involved with these and they only reduce how much the spring compresses and they are not adjustable.

Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension - Rear Axle Item # CSS-1195R. These work similar to the jounce bumper however, the instillation is much easier. These fit in between the coil on the spring and again reduce how much the spring compresses by eliminating one of the gaps in the spring. These also do not have any adjustment.
